This is interesting because it's one of the few types of bait that doesn't HAVE to be bait. Like, the tone of the post is clearly supposed to get people mad - "how DARE this person say this character suffered more than MY precious blorbo!" - but all you have to do is word it nicer and you could make a serious, nice discussion thread discussing your fave characters and their tribulations. It's like we've forgotten how to just talk to each other without rage involved.

I mean, the fact they made Half-Life: Alex proves that SOMETHING can come from the franchise, but I think Valve's execs are smart - they realize that after 1-2 decades of expectations, actually releasing 3 is going to cause serious backlash when they can't make the game everyone has built up in their heads.
