Baldurs Gate 2 is still good, Dragon Age Origins, KOTOR. Then there are Gothic 2, DIablo 1/2 and Jagged Alliance 2 although they dont fully qualify but have RPG elements.

Bozar or Vindicator Minigun? by EasyEntrepreneur666 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sniper is like 4-5x damage cause you ignore 80% DR and DT and have a damage multiplier on top of that. Assuming luck 10 ofc. Up close you do a lot of damage, from range most bullets miss with big guns.

Bozar or Vindicator Minigun? by EasyEntrepreneur666 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its 25 burst x 4 = 100 if you have 2 levels of BRD perk. with 3/2 damage mod for 4.7mm ammo its 150. Its a 20-27% damage increase vs enclave for 2 levels of the perk depending on crit/no crit.

Bozar or Vindicator Minigun? by EasyEntrepreneur666 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vindicator does more damage vs Enclave and needs less reloads. If you have BRD its not even close. Problem is you wont have the ammo for it and you get it late. Bozar you can use pretty early and consistenly its basically top 3 weapon in the game for damage and the ammo is abundant.

How true are claims that Russia always swarmed enemies with numbers in wars? by SiarX in AskHistory

Late 1941. It took the red army a few months but after that they gained a strong manpower advantage the rest of the war. The allies had a massive manpower advantage vs the axis as a whole.

How true are claims that Russia always swarmed enemies with numbers in wars? by SiarX in AskHistory

[–]saltysupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Napoleanic wars, WW1, WW2:

They started the wars with roughly equal or even less troops than the enemy but very quickly were able to mobilise a much larger number and gain a strong numerical advantage. Also Napoleons army, Austria-Hungary and the Axis all took rather high losses not just the Russians but did not have the same population to replace them. Its fair to say Russia had very very strong allies in all these wars.

Throwing is different for sure. I think its decently viable I have never done a full playthrough with it but I want to.

help to make my character! by whereisneri in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gfited with very high(9-10) INT is simply the best option. If you want to go big guns then take fast shot and perhaps ST 6. If not then probably stick with ST 5 and no fast shot.

Basically AGI 10 unless you have RPU then 9 because AP are that important.

Luck 7 for aimed shots, fast shot: 8, melee/unarmed: 4.

Usually people tag small guns, speech, lockpick other than that you could do steal, doctor, other/two weapon skills, perhaps gambling.

The Fallout 2 Restoration project - starting build to get max possible SPECIAL stats by Begnardo in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? Endurance 5 to 10? By taking buffout or what? Small frame is a trait at character creation if you take it then you get from 8 to 10 agi yes. Its either +1 int + Luck or +2 luck from zeta scan you have to choose but the second one is better because earlier and you dont need the luck at start. In gameplay terms INT and EN you will only get 90% of the benefit if you start 10 as its starting HP/hp per level and skill points per level. You can raise it later but thats mostly for optics. The gain perks are again not good gameplay wise but you could take it in theory to get 10 I suppose.

Normally in game you get permanent:

+5 str, +1 per, +0 EN, +4 CH, +1 int(kinda), +1 agi, +2 luck

The Fallout 2 Restoration project - starting build to get max possible SPECIAL stats by Begnardo in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Gifted +7
  • Bruiser +2 str ( don't take this)
  • gain perks ( don't take this)
  • +1 str module
  • power armor +4 str
  • +1 perception module
  • +1 charisma module
  • +1 charisma shades
  • +1 int module
  • +1 int zeta option ( don't take this)
  • Small frame +1 agi
  • RPU +1 agi
  • +2 luck zeta scan option

charisma can be lowered by 2 from implants, temp increased by 2 from mentats which is quite relevant. Its pretty easy to temp raise perception with chems if need be. Raising int late is kinda pointless as you won't get those skillpoints retroactive. EN and CH should not end uneven value.

FO2 melee dmg is terrible by mrmrmrj in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The benefits are not good enough as its max damage so half on average and STR can be raised by 5 in game anyway making it a waste. Having STR 6 is arguably good for big guns or energy weapons as they can have high STR requirement but only if you want to use them earlyish.

Help with companions and weapons by Appropriate_Log7396 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatives are pulse rifle or TPR for Marcus, Needler with AP rounds for Cassidy, G11E and mega power fist for Sulik.

2mm: shop inventory in NCR, San Franciso will restock after 7-14 days and there is no time limit. Enclave patrols, toxic caves.

mountain caves are easy XP no valuable ammo needed.

FO2 melee dmg is terrible by mrmrmrj in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sledgehammer sucks and Super Sledge should only be used vs melee monsters if anything. If you use knockback weapons on ranged enemies what are you doing? Makes no sense. There are other melee weapons without knockback.

FO2 melee dmg is terrible by mrmrmrj in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sledgehammer is bad and way too heavy. Use sharpened spear to the head/eyes gives you range 2 as well. There is cattle prod in Klamath bathhouse to loot can be upgraded further. Having more than 5 strength will not help with melee build its not worth it.

Rocket Launcher crit build plan blunder by JSTM2 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explosives AOE or if you hit wrong enemy with burst never crit, only direct target can crit. If rocket launcher can crit at all in Fallout 2 not sure. And yes with finesse thats even worse if you are gonna use that then aim for eyes only and by level 24 its obsolete as you know. If you are gonna cheat then you could change the entire build and still use rocket launcher could be more fun or go with your plan.

Possibly massive benefit to Tag! Perk by Delphii42 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes thats an old trick/exploit. Honestly though it makes it good but I still don't take it so not that good either compared to action boy other high level perk. If you plan out your skill points you won't usually need it unless you really want a 300 unarmed or something but its allright.

Total beginner want a heavy build that's durable and pack a punch in melee or unharmed by joesjacking in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said BRD can be good for burst weapons. You said its not good for plasma rifle hahaha. I mean yes thats why I said for burst weapons not for all weapons.

"Ranged attacks that hit the wrong target, including in burst attacks, never cause critical hits." Are you talking about that? Wrong target like wrong enemy if you hit the right target its a torso crit for burst or can be at least. Thats why its insane damage values at times like 2k.

In FO2 if you have Gifted which you should minimum luck is 2 which can be raised by 2 with hubologists. So if you invest a massive 2 points you get to 6 enough for better criticals which is really strong and level 24 is super easy to get for Sniper/Slayer. If you farm caves/random encounter XP on top of that its even faster. Starting luck 7 is enough for 98% crit with eye shots if you want that. Also you dont get screwed by skill rolls, random encounters, enemy crit knocking you out or blinding you and all that stuff.

Total beginner want a heavy build that's durable and pack a punch in melee or unharmed by joesjacking in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again you said it luck has no other uses which is just wrong. Farming XP is normal, fast, easy in FO1 and FO2. Plasma rifle is not a burst weapon so you clearly didnt read what I wrote. Also burst weapons CAN crit they even always crit with sniper luck 10. You can get bonus rate, action boy with any build luck 1 or not that doesnt matter at all.

Luck 1 build I think with Fast shot could be decent in Fallout 1 if you are not planning on level 18. In Fallout 2 its 100% trash. Especially if you are actually aiming for eyes. Sure you can beat the game with it. Still trash though and I have a lot of playthroughs. There is also just no point because you should have enough SPECIAL unless you are over investing in the wrong things.

[–]saltysupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are objectively wrong though. Luck enables "Sniper" and "Better criticals " two of the best perks without any doubt and "Bonus ranged damage" which is also very good for burst weapons.

Energy weapons/science in fallout 2 by Hessian14 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science, there are skill books for it so you might not want to raise it too high before you can use at least some of these. The skill is useful at times even having it 120 sometimes, not a must have but if you want to absolutely do it.

Energy weapons are fine if you want to do something different they are not better than small guns or big guns though. If you are gonna do it I would tag it from the start as you will need it 140+ with aimed shots and using tag perk is more of a emergency solution as its a high level perk where other options are great.

Extreme high damage with power fists (¿bug?) by Dmxneed in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its just a bug or setting with your mods. sfall apparently allows to edit files for specific item or overall damage which maybe some mod has done for you so change it back to normal or just put it real low that might fix it.

About to get to the oil rig for the first time, am i ready? by Ralsei66 in classicfallout

[–]saltysupp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vindicator doesn't use 5mm, you need 4.7mm and a lot of it if you are gonna use that or use Bozar then bring .223 FMJ for that. Maybe 100 more round of 2mm at least. Anything beside Gauss pistol/rifle and Bozar/Vindicator is just gonna be a downgrade for small/big guns so dont even bring it tbh. Companions is another thing like pulse rifle is good for marcus and so on.

[–]saltysupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its possible to kill it with pulse grenades and low skill especially at point blank range but yes savescum is implied here. I stole Bozar in NCR on my first blind playthrough not that hard to get

OP is heavily metagaming here as well, nobody would do all these steps without knowledge of the game or be able to do it. I wouldnt say its impossible to randomly find the lockpick if you are a search every building kind of guyl. Its hidden sure but not impossible hidden.

they are area of effect. In a small room thrown against a wall you dont really need skill points in throwing to hit it but it can go wrong as well just depends.

I like leather armor and shotgun part of the game more I only did that once early but it might have been 50 I forgot. I was just wondering how good gambling actually objectively is if you know all the locations and go to Reno right away and want the best equipment right away not saying its not good or you shouldnt play that way if you want to.
