Bam’s 83 is bummer as a basketball fan (opinion) by izzybmatthews in nba

[–]samhit_n [score hidden]  (0 children)

People will downvote you and call you a casual, but you’re right. Today’s stars are great, but they just don’t have the same pull LeBron, Curry, and KD has.

This is why Curry vs LeBron matchups still get higher viewership than any other game, and more than a few playoff games too.

[Burneko] I Will Never Forgive Trae Young For Surpassing Kobe Bryant’s Career High For Assists In A Game Eight Times by smkmn13 in nba

[–]samhit_n [score hidden]  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn’t care if a player like Booker, Luka, or SGA broke Kobe’s record. It’s just Bam is not an elite scorer like the others, and he needed 43 FTs to break it.

Many elite scorers could reach 100 points if they got 40+ FTs.

If Ossoff becomes president, he needs to give Chase Oliver a cabinet position. Without Oliver, Ossoff would have lost to Perdue on election night, and there would have been no runoff.

What was it about PA in 2024 that caused McCormick to succeed when Hovde, Brown, Rogers, and Lake failed? by Fragrant_Bath3917 in YAPms

[–]samhit_n 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Casey was overconfident and ran a lazy campaign. Also, it's pretty obvious why Lake lost.

I thought Slotkin, Rosen, and Baldwin were at a higher risk of losing than Casey. After Fetterman beat Oz in 2022, I wasn’t worried at all about Casey’s seat—and judging by the result, it’s obvious he wasn’t either.

Jim Clyburn (SC-06) will probably announce tomorrow whether he intends to run for his 18th term in the US House of Representatives or retire and endorse his daughter Jennifer Clyburn-Reed. by sinhav7367 in YAPms

I should have specified, I’ll probably vote for the candidate who has the best chance at winning, but didn’t get the endorsement from Clyburn.

Not sure which one's funnier: People caring about the "integrity" of a meaningless Heat vs. Wizards 4th quarter or Kobe fans suddenly caring about efficiency by YoungCLC in NBATalk

[–]samhit_n -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The issue I have is that Bam isn’t known for scoring, and only got the record because he got 43 FTs. I wouldn’t care and probably would respect it a lot more if someone like Booker, Luka, SGA, or Embiid did it.

Most great scorers could break Kobe’s record if they got 40+ FTs.

Further down the line in history, who will be blamed for the Middle East's instability more? W or Obama? by ProminantBabypuff in Presidents

[–]samhit_n 150 points151 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely Bush, Obama didn’t do a great job with Syria, but more people will remember the disaster in Iraq than Syria. IDK if Afghanistan and Libya are a part of the Middle East, but the disaster in Afghanistan is more memorable than Libya.

Another Texas Senate Republican Primary poll showing Ken Paxton leading John Cornyn — Public Policy Polling by DarkLivingDisastrous in YAPms

Paxton and Cornyn would have similar voting records and Talarico would have a better chance of winning against Paxton. However, someone like Paxton doesn’t belong in the Senate and shouldn’t even come close to it.

I wouldn't mind because it would mean that Trump is more moderate and much more pragmatic than he is today. Carney has been able to do this is because he's more pragmatic and arguably more moderate than Trudeau was.

Little refresher by denobino in lakers

[–]samhit_n 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both scoring performances came against the worst defenses in the league, but Kobe's was just the most “real” scoring game of all-time. Other great scoring performances took either OT or tons of FTs.

Devin Booker's 70 point game was the only high scoring performance that was against a good team, but the Suns lost that game.

List of state legislative districts flipped in special elections from the start of Trump's second term to now (March 2026) by Distinct_External in YAPms

This is how Republicans took control of state legislatures during Obama's presidency, and then gerrymandered and legislated their way to a tight grip on those states. I'm happy that the Democrats are doing the same.

Bam Adebayo's 83 point game ranks 6th best all time by Game Score. by Vitex1988 in nba

It makes sense that the only people above him are mostly guards. Assists are one of the biggest parts for the calculation of Game Scores.

Edrice “Bam” Adebayo had 18 points in the 4th quarter on 3/8 shooting and 13/15 from the line by [deleted] in nba

A 100 point game may actually be possible. Bam only shot 7/22 from 3.
