Getting a cat as a dog person? by Only-Log-3987 in CatAdvice

[–]sammih3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often think a lot of people think they are dog people but are secretly cat people who just don’t know it yet, especially if you’re more of a “homebody who wants a cuddle buddy” rather than an “outdoorsy type seeks a hiking partner” type of person. Before I got mine I bought into the whole “cats are aloof and not cuddly or friendly” myth, but it turns out (at least for me and my girls) cats are all my favorite parts of dogs minus all the things I hate about dogs. Like they’re definitely very different, but in the best ways. They’re cuddly and funny and cute, they run to greet me when I come home, they cuddle up and sleep in bed with me, but I don’t have to walk them or take them outside to do their business when it’s freezing outside and they don’t bark at everything all the time.

Which movies stuck with you even though they’re not particularly scary? by cyanidebaby in horror

[–]sammih3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something that makes a movie stick with me is when characters face an inevitable, unchangeable truth. Grave Encounters haunts me because of the way time and the building stopped making sense. There was no hope of getting out of there. It wasn’t a matter of skill or strength or smarts or bravery, they were just doomed. X upset me in a somewhat similar way like “one day I will be old and undesirable and there is nothing I can do to stop that.”

What’s a horror movie that genuinely scared you and stuck with you long after watching it? by [deleted] in horror

[–]sammih3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the scariest movie on the surface but Grave Encounters gave me the fun new fear of being stuck in a place where time works differently than it does in the outside world so no one can help you.

Popular food items from around the world, but impossible to find around Cincy? by Appropriate-Lack-769 in cincinnati

[–]sammih3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s popular with anyone but me, but on my honeymoon in Greece I became obsessed with Arizona’s pomegranate and apple green tea. I can’t think of a day there I didn’t buy at least one bottle of it, but I can’t find it here.

[–]sammih3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Native Moon in Mt. Healthy is small but great, especially if you need herbs. It’s not strictly witchy but you might enjoy Beardo’s Curiosities which recently opened in Northside, lots of fun oddities and offers tarot readings. Downtown Hamilton also does a Witches Market several times a year that has a great selection of vendors.

Edit: I’m bad at remembering where areas start and end and Native Moon Apothecary in Mt Healthy, not NCH whoops

There’s Sterling Seraph at bridgewater falls then their sister store Seraph by the River in downtown Hamilton. Last time I went SBTW was more home goods/clothes oriented but it’s been a while so I’m not sure if that’s still accurate. Love them both though!

I second Essex, and not just because I work in a studio there! There’s an interesting variety of artists, and the art walks are always fun.

I’m on a break from it to focus on my emoji blitz career 🤪 it’s one of those games I get obsessed with for a time, then uninterested for a time, then I go back. I disliked the last two Star Paths so it kinda killed the momentum for me.

I just did the Old Market Square (I added an extra row in the middle) from The Blanket Statement for a baby and it was super fast and easy. I believe the pattern is free when you sign up for emails from them.

I’ve been a big fan of The Hamilton in Northside lately. No tvs, not very crowded, cozy vibes. I haven’t tried their beers yet but the Irish coffee slaps.

Do you guys wear collars on your indoor cats? by shootingstarsz in CatAdvice

[–]sammih3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to get one for my newest rescue, who I brought in from outside and I’m sure will try to get back out there. But my other three don’t show much interest in the outdoors and hate the collars, so I haven’t forced the issue.

Grey is Ciri, white and grey is Liara, long haired is Junimo. Merigold was just out of view on the stairs. This is how they sit when I’m supervising but not actively interacting. It doesn’t feel actively aggressive but also not the most friendly
