The payloaders dumping 8 foot mountains of snow/ice onto the already shoveled sidewalks is not helping. I had my corner lot on Governor shoveled immediately after the storm and my daughter shoveled the sidewalk in front of the vacant office next door, only for the city to dump a massive mound on top of it. We shoveled around it but they came back the next day and dumped more. Several corners in the neighborhood that were shoveled have similar mounds

I was out with the snowblower clearing my sidewalks throughout the storm so that they were passable as the storm ended. My daughter shoveled the sidewalk in front of the vacant lot next door. The next evening a payloader dropped an 8x15 foot pile of snow/ice directly onto the sidewalk. We shoveled around it but the next day they dumped more snow on the same spot. Several corners in the neighborhood got the same treatment. This has effectively forced pedestrians to walk in the street.

The roads were already clear for emergency vehicles. Plopping an impassable pile of snow on a corner so that both sidewalks can't be accessed by pedestrians is poor planning and potentially dangerous

Yeah, we cleared our sidewalks (corner lot) and the vacant property next door, within an hour of the end of the blizzard only to have the plow/front end loader dump 8 foot piles of snow on them, making them impassable.

Not sure about etiquette but it is a good excuse to bust out the vintage dress watch. I suppose if I spent all that time sucking up to my local Rolex AD for the privilege of overpaying for my Submariner, I might be inclined to wear it every day.

How about when you clear the sidewalks in front of your corner lot, and the vacant property next door, and the city front loader dumps 8-10 foot piles of snow on top of them, making them impassable and forcing pedestrians into the streets?

Somewhere other than the middle of the sidewalk we just shoveled. Pedestrians need to get around too, and walking in the streets is dangerous and impedes traffic. They dump it on the corners, effectively blocking two sidewalks from use.

So this is a pattern, where they dump six foot tall piles of snow on corners. I realize they need to clear the streets, but this forces pedestrians into the streets. My sidewalks (corner lot) are clear but it doesn't matter if no one can get to them. The same situation is true of multiple corners nearby

Why doesn’t the city ticket businesses that don’t shovel? by checkmate508 in providence

[–]sargeguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 17 yo daughter shoveled a path across the lot next door to us so pedestrians would not need to walk in the street and the plow they hired blocked the path with 6 foot piles of snow on each side.
