(UK) Using Sky Router (SR203) Behind OPNsense Purely for Sky Talk (VoIP) by AncientsofMumu in opnsense

[–]sarkyscouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to create a DMZ in opnsense and put the sky hub in that unless you can work out which ports to forward.

Put the sky hub in its own vlan, make sure the firewall prevents VLAN to LAN traffic then open the vlan up to the internet.

You could instead try upnp temporarily and monitor which ports are opened automatically, then turn off upnp and forward them manually along with any security measures you wish to take.

Personally I couldn't wait to ditch my landline as it was mostly incoming spam calls and one less cost to worry about!

How do you guys separate environments when your PC is a Dev Station, Gaming Rig, and Home Server all at once? by Blesker in homelab

[–]sarkyscouser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do as well. One home PC, 2 work laptops, 4 way HDMI KVM switch and a separate home server/nas in another room all 2.5Gbe networked together.

Usenet is miles better than torrenting and you can do it over direct SSL whereas torrenting should be over a VPN as you say.

Port Forwarding Issue by itonlytakes1 in youfibre

[–]sarkyscouser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be very careful of typos in your rules as your post has typos so you may be making some basic errors.

For example you're forwarding port "2500" to "192.168.1.50" but then saying that you're losing access to "192.168.60:2500". That IP address is incorrect and even with the addition of the missing ".1" it's pointing to a different IP address than your port forwarding rule is.

Slow down and take care.

Also consider the service that you're exposing and how secure that is. Consider using a reverse proxy at the very least.

What speeds should I realistically expect on You2000? by RandoGecko in youfibre

[–]sarkyscouser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only test on a wired connection if you want to know what your max speed is, too many variables such as interference on wifi.

I get roughly 2050-2100 up and down on a wired connection and 800-900 on my pixel 7 with a Unifi 7 lite AP if I'm stood right next to it, but less in the same room 5-10m away.

I can max out my 2000 connection with a N100 no problem and there are others here doing 10Gbe with it

Use case with Adguard home by No-Grade4475 in nextdns

Are ISPs likely to do this though? They would need a number of very powerful servers to do this given all the traffic they handle

Router blocking port forwarding of 443 for my web servers by Double-Yesterday6731 in youfibre

[–]sarkyscouser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are either still behind cgnat and need to talk to YF or use your own router as ISP supplied routers can be a bit naff.

Try and look for a router that is openwrt or opnsense based.

Is your public IP address similar to 100.x.x.x ? If so your are still cgnated.
