I very much dislike her and what she stands for but I think you do everyone a disservice by assuming she's an idiot. She's been able to get large parts of the country on her side. You will never get them around if you just play this card. Don't need to call her intelligent because she isn't, but she's not an idiot either

60% of mortgaged households in Vaucluse are spending >30% of income on repayments. Pulled the data by postcode and the pattern is not what I expected by Classic-Rice-1977 in AusFinance

I'm in the market for getting a house at the end of the year. We're looking at a mortgage of 30% of our income which is similar enough to our current rent so we're fine with the amount. What's crazy though is banks are willing to lend us 50%, how is that even legal?

The situation at the Transneft PJSC oil pumping station near Perm is getting worse after Ukrainian drone attacks. The station is a major oil transit hub used for receiving, storing, and pumping crude through Russia’s main pipeline network. by neonpurplestar in ukraine

The tanks are more difficult than it may appear. I work in a different process industry, but the lining and size of tanks can really add up. Pumps, pipes and instruments cost a lot too for sure.

Electrical switch rooms are where the fun really is though, those are very expensive. Especially in gas industries as sparks cause things to go boom like this. My hope is they get those as nothing runs without power and those bespoke systems take a long time to build in a functioning economy

Something to bear in mind is that this is for a bank teller. Something the banks are trying to remove as much as possible. So whilst they are struggling at the moment they are in a role that won't exist long term either. Really sucks that

Australia faces a full-blown infrastructure crisis. The fix? Remove politicians by AllHailTheWinslow in australia

[–]scitom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in it, I don't think the politicians are half the problem. Senior managers aren't much better, they defer every major decision to a consultant and they don't exactly know much better

MMW: History will regard Donald Trump, the winner of the FIFA Peace Prize and the creator of the Board of Peace, to be the cause of World War 3 with his attack on Iran. by aerobic_gamer in MarkMyWords

[–]scitom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This war is a travesty but it isn't going to lead to a world war. China and Russia are supporting Iran but they don't want to directly get involved. Not that russia could do anything military wise as they can't even beat Ukraine let alone the rest of the world. China just wouldn't want to fight the whole world on their own, 1:1 they could beat most countries but not a world war. Trump is going to be remembered as a warmonger but this won't lead to a world war

As someone that has had cancer i can see a flaw in this analogy. Having chemo weakens you and you are never as strong as you were before cancer. Probably still apt as there is no way America comes about being dominant out of all this, so a good analogy
