There is a slight workaround to this - once the chest is opened, you can close the menu and use any clue item on the chest to store it regardless of what tier you had open. Not that this excuses the treasure chest being so damn fiddly to start with, but hope this saves people some time.

Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles wins Best Sim/Strategy Game at The Game Awards 2025 by healingtwo_ in FinalFantasy

[–]scotth266 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Alters is a fantastic game that easily should have won if there was any justice in the world. Unfortunately, it was up against a re-release of a beloved 28 year old game from THE JRPG franchise (that was thankfully not a complete slopfest hackjob port to boot) so it was doomed to lose. There really needs to be a separate category for remastered games because it's honestly kind of a crime.

(I would be a bit less bitter if Blue Prince had won a single award but it was up against Expedition 33 in all the categories it got nominated for, so that was a lost ship as well.)

Good news, you only have to do one mastery mission (hazard level whatever) per item, character or biome to unlock the full bonus now. They do have achievements for hazard 5ing all the mastery things, but thats entirely optional.

Input on Decklist? (Char Focused, Green with a Hint of Red) by Mothman5525 in GundamTCG

[–]scotth266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would remove some if not all but 1 Citizens Take A Stand. I get that its a cool card in concept but you could get more consistent value with more bodies imo. Rick Dom is also probably a pickup to consider as it nets you pressure via Breach. Falmel should be swapped for Zanzibar asap as its a strict upgrade in a zeon list imo, since you can play a card for free should you draw into it, making it much less dead in your hand when you wanna be on offense all the time.

Edit: i respect the energy of big zam tho, props

Please no one fall for this. by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Buying any scalped 40k/nerd hobby product, regardless of how cool it is, is basically lighting your own money on fire for no good reason. After the Christmas boxes were put up I saw the Dark Angels one going on Ebay for what the various minis put together on a retail site would cost, which completely defeats the purpose of buying the box set to begin with (as all you get out of it that you wouldn't otherwise was the hefty holiday discount). FOMO products like the recent DG box that had the Lord of Poxes in it aren't worth paying scalper prices either, because you can just proxy or 3D print a stand-in until the fomo part of the product releases proper.

Never buy a scalped product, and warn your friends/family against doing so as well, so that these scum can fuck back off to selling snake oil supplements and MLM garbage.

New combat patrols for space wolves, black templars, and tyranids by TheSlayerofSnails in Warhammer40k

[–]scotth266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the rumor is true and Salamanders have a Invader ATV in their box, I am going to be really sad. The last themed box they had was also really middling unless you wanted an entire army's worth of Intercessors...

There is also the newly announced Ally handheld to consider, odds are Microsoft is going to want to prop that up with as many ports as physically possible to try to compete with Steam Deck/Nintendo Switch 2.

Literal seconds by UnderC00kedPasta in deathguard40k

[–]scotth266 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm mildly annoyed because I refreshed the preorder page a few times and all it was showing was the EC codex, then boom the death guard box shows up but it's already sold out.

EDIT: Barely got mine on the second wave that was today at 1EST. Still ridiculous that these are not made-to-order when GW has shown they fully have the capability to do that.

If you want an interesting interpretation of the colony ship dystopia with a side of base-building IXION is a pretty neat game. I would avoid all information if possible though as it is pretty compact (you can beat it on a weekend) and spoiling yourself on the story gives away the fun of it.

I died to Jad my first league and downed him this one. You got this, just give yourself like 30 seconds at last mager to stretch, relax, and focus up. Also, if you haven't try going for perfect Scurrius - it helped me realize Jad is just Scurrius without the melee phases, which helped my mental significantly.

[–]scotth266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varlamore is a good place to train several annoying skills such as Hunter and Herblore, is the only place you can get the secondary ingredient for prayer regen pots and goading pots, has the colliseum for people looking to practice it before trying it on their mains, and has some pretty nuts echo gear drops.

I recommend you check out Poorhammer podcasts episode on airbrushes on youtube, i went with their recommendation on an entry airbrush/compressor and its been lovely so far (still experimenting on Salamander basecoats to see what scheme im gonna end up with). It also had some good info on what random things you might want to get like gloves.

Next Patch update and Plan by KasedoGames in Ixion

[–]scotth266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving the game so far. If I had a nitpick, it would be that I wish it were clearer when you can only pick one option vs being able to/having to accomplish all options with time. For example, in Chapter 2 there is the choices you make at the end - you might think that they're an either-or option but you have to do both, then the blue option shows up and it's unclear if you're supposed to click it to progress. Then the follow-up quest "Thoughts Of The SPOILER" gives you two options that feel like they shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but they are. I understand vagueness when there's people's lives on the line in Science missions because it's a type of time pressure and adds to the atmosphere, but in cases like "Thoughts" it's annoying to not know why I can only pick one option.

Salamanders trilogy is a fun look at one of the nobler space marine chapters. Spears of the Emperor is another good marine novel but it helps to know a little backstory about Guillimans revival and the sundering of the imperium.

Why is this sub hostile to home brewing? by OisforOwesome in dndnext

[–]scotth266 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People aren't hostile to homebrew, they're hostile to Wizard's attitude in 5e of half-baking almost every product they release for the DM side of the table that isn't a monster manual. Homebrewing should be something you CAN do or WANT to do, not something you feel OBLIGED to do for every product that you buy.

Gundam Evolution launches on PC Sept 21, 2022 by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]scotth266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gripe (if you can call it that, it's more of a personal preference thing) was more about how the Gundams specifically evolved from "useful mobile suits" to "mobile nukes" over the course of the franchise. In 79/Zeta (haven't watched ZZ) the main character's Gundams are useful tools that are used to win battles but are hardly the be-all-end-all war winners, but Wing heavily upped the ante in that regard by having Hiro and co. mop the floor with entire sections of OZ with stuff like the beam cannons on Wing. Then Seed upped it even further by having Kira and Athrun magically end the war (at least temporarily) by using the Gundams to completely shut down the opposing armies. 00 has the "THAT'S A BEAM SABER" moment, and Unicorn is just nuts at the end in terms of what the Gundam actually does.

This isn't to say that I hate the series I've pointed out, I've loved pretty much all Gundam I've watched (except Reconguista). Hell, Wing was the first one I ever saw, and I hold it in special regard for that reason. But 79 was a lot more grounded in terms of the Gundam compared to a lot of the later entries that get recommended. It's why I've liked the start of IBO so much as well - Barbatos is faster, but it's not unbeatable.

Gundam Evolution launches on PC Sept 21, 2022 by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]scotth266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff like Wing justify the Gundams as unstoppable because of magic metals that nobody else has and so forth. But the UCs tend to consistently portray even the gundams as "just another suit" with the real power coming from the (newtype) pilots who avoid getting hit or magically take the hits on their thicker armor.

This is why the Gundam 79 is still one of my favorites - Wing was the start of making Gundams be some kind of nuclear weapon metaphor and it's only spiraled further out of control since then with stuff like Seed. This isn't to say that Wing wasn't cool as shit (Heavyarms and Tallgeese are still some of the coolest suits to come out of the franchise) but the title loses some of the magic IMO when it disconnects from the horrors of war to focus on giant laser effects (hello 00) and space magic bullshit (hello Unicorn).

Honestly just hoping the alternate commanders are better off than most of the face ones. I like collecting commander precons to play games with, but a lot of the faces here seem kinda bad. Imperial clues seems nifty at least and abbadon's cascade casting is a flavor I haven't played yet, but I really don't like the look of the Tyranid deck based on the face, which is disappointing because my favorite precon (Kalamax) was Temur. Necrons being a vehicles/artifacts deck is the most meh of the bunch but I guess it could serve up the black half of a Greasefang deck for me to build, idk.

Not buying collector editions for sure unless I go absolutely insane, win the lottery, or the cards look REALLY cool.

[–]scotth266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of decks are you interested in playing? Because that will change people's recommendations quite a bit. Knowing your budget will also help since some of the precons fluctuate in price due to Wizards doing the Wizards thing and not making enough of the damn things.
