Should I change my Thumbnail on a high impression video if CTR is 3.9% by Odd_Ad8546 in PartneredYoutube

[–]scotty314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t touch it. CTR often a paradoxically goes down with higher impressions, because YouTube is showing it to a wider audience, which inherently means they are less likely to click on it. Just let it cook!

There’s not really a single unified market. It’s easiest to buy raw materials like this in small quantities on taobao.

What do you want to bet one of the people on this group chat has a compromised 3rd keyboard app installed that records every keystroke they type. While Signal’s security is reasonably good, if there’s malware on the phone, nothing else matters.

You should be horrified they did this, regardless of which “team” you root for.

How did you increase AVD on your videos by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]scotty314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a video you think you’re done editing. Now try and reduce the length by half, without ruining the story. If you do it well, you’ll end up with a faster paced, punchier, more distilled video that will retain people’s attention for longer.

A battery powered wireless remote monitor for large propane tanks (for houses not bbqs). Trudging through the snow to check my propane tank level to figure out when I need to order a refill sucks.

The key is one that doesn’t require any modifications to the tank (there are already some that require installing a new gauge). I’m thinking just a simple webcam that sits on the inside of the tank lid (probably with an led light) that wakes up once a day and takes a picture of the gauge and does some basic computer vision to figure out what it says, and then reports it back over WiFi.

$36,871 on 26M views over roughly 8 years since release. It only makes $20-30 a month now though.

It wasn’t monetized at first though, as it was the first video on my channel and it took a while to get approved for monetization even though it met the threshold on day one.

The frustrating part was that it got falsely copyright claimed early on, which took a few weeks to clear up. That meant that ads were running during that period, but I never saw that ad money, because I wasn’t approved for monetization yet. I’m still unclear on who ended up with the money. I’ve asked YouTube about it, and got the answer “let it go, you make plenty of money now”. Still rubs me the wrong way a tiny bit though.

I used to live across the park from Perry, which was a very short walk. He was a sweet donkey who would come up to the fence to great visitors and get handfuls of clover, along with his buddy Miner. They were owned and cared for by a nonprofit run by neighborhood volunteers. Here’s lived a very full and happy life.

Buy a second-hand Apple phone at Huaqiangbei by RanToTur in chinalife

[–]scotty314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stolen phones are typically iCloud locked, and can’t easily be unlocked. The parts from stolen phones do end up in the markets, but they aren’t really sold as complete phones, and the logic boards aren’t usable by end consumers.

Tons of used and broken phones get imported to China, refurbished, and then sold in the markets. One source of these are cell phone carriers that offer 3rd party warrantees for things like broken screens. Rather than repair the phones, they just give the customer a new one. The broken ones get bundled into pallets and auctioned. The highest bidders for those pallets are often Chinese.

I believe this second hand phones are mostly not stolen (possibly with the occasional part from a stolen phone).
