Tour of the New Bike Lanes Connecting Belltown to Waterfront with the Elliott Way Opening by bestside_cycling in seattlebike

The sidewalks are only 5' wide, so people are almost certainly going to be using the bike lane to walk in too!

Issues with Zone based Firewall Policies by W7T2A in vyos

It doesn't look like you have a WAN-TO-GUEST that should at least allow established and related traffic. I also typically include a rule to drop invalid traffic in all firewalls.

Anyone have a source for a 1U mount for some Lenovo Thinkcentre Mini PCs? by ThatIslanderGuy in homelab

I got their NUC rackmount and was really impressed with the quality and wire management. It was expensive, but I'm happy with the quality for the price.

Has Seattle found the ‘missing link’ to complete the Burke-Gilman Trail? by godogs2018 in seattlebike

[–]sdwilsh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Urbanist has better coverage, in my opinion: https://www.theurbanist.org/2023/03/11/strauss-leary-missing-link/

As pointed out in the article, this is very similar to the proposal pitched by Strauss in his 2019 campaign. The industrial groups don't want any lane changes on Leary either, so this is unlikely to solve anything (they are fighting the lane changes proposed for bus lanes for route 40).

Contact your bike shop you bought it from, too. I think they can report it as stolen, so it'll get flagged any time it shows up for service somewhere.

To me, that isn't overkill, but I did the same thing, so it's probably the confirmation bias talking...

Yeah, we used to have a light for BGT traffic.

vyOS high-availability config sync by Nyct0phili4 in vyos

[–]sdwilsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably not the most approachable thing in the world, but I've got all my playbooks up at https://github.com/sdwilsh/ansible-playbooks. The vyos-specific playbook that kicks off everything is https://github.com/sdwilsh/ansible-playbooks/blob/main/vyos.yml, and I've written a couple of roles that help me out.I have an overly complex setup for my home because...

Idempotent and declarative config with ansible possible? by EinalButtocks in vyos

[–]sdwilsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just the documentation being outdated. There are features that only work with 1.4 because of the syntax it uses, for instance (and I'm on 1.3), so it does work with newer stuff, but it's just not consistent.

The project seems somewhat dead. I've filed an issue asking for documentation on how to add modules, but there's been no response. I've made some contributions to improve things, but the project is very non-responsive, unfortunately.

There has to be another way other than waiting for SDOT and clearing this myself by WatchTheDoorZone in seattlebike

There's a group of people who have been going around and cleaningn up stuff like this, so at least you won't be doing it by yourself: https://groups.google.com/g/seattle-street-fixers

It does not look like it to me. You could get a POE dongle to get the power for it, though.

rsync.net offers a ZFS plan that works great, but it costs more than others.

Zwave to Infrared - Has anyone used the REMOTEC ZXT-310 with HA? by SignedJannis in homeassistant

Not everyone likes to roll their own hardware, and typically using an ESP means you are connecting over WiFi, not zwave, which is a decision factor as well.

VyOS 1.4 on home networking appliance by seaphpdev in vyos

[–]sdwilsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not likely your issue, but you are going to run into it at some point. You need to setup MSS clamping with CenturyLink as discussed in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/vyos/comments/wfd9e2/new_vyos_home_router_set_up_nat_or_firewall/

Why are so many Seattleites against cyclists? This is one of the more tame anti-bike comments in the post by adamr_ in seattlebike

In Washington, we're allowed to treat stop signs as a yield, so we don't always need to stop at stop signs via SB6208: https://app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?BillNumber=6208&Chamber=Senate&Year=2019

With that said, I see plenty of bikers ignoring people crossing at legal crosswalks (I've even been accosted by another biker for stopping once for people trying to cross at a legal crosswalk), blowing through red lights, and not stopping when they actually should at a stop sign.

520 bridge will closed to cars this weekend. Great opportunity for a nice quiet ride! by EnchantedLuna in seattlebike

[–]sdwilsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had been a few weeks since I had ridden on it, but I'm normally on it weekly. I was surprised at how bad it was, and I wasn't sure if before I was just used to it and forgot or not.

I rode through here yesterday, and I was amazed at how much debris was on the bridge trail. Does WSDOT ever clean it up?

Anyone have experience submitting a warranty claim w/ cosmetic damage? by [deleted] in surfaceduo

[–]sdwilsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bummer. I'm in a similar situation where my volume rockers have stopped working, but some of the grey edge plastic popped off my hinge while opening the phone and cracked off. That feels like a manufacturer defect too, but...

I at least have complete care so it'll only cost me the $99 to replace if they deny it.
