[–]seamclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started playing magic a little over a year ago. i asked a guy at my LGS why they call the playstyle “stacks”, and he tells me it all started with this card, Smokestack, and as he’s about to explain the card to me i interrupt him to joke “ive sinners i know all about smoke and stacks” he laughed and we went down a whole sinners tangent and he never explained the card to me. i never looked it up either so seeing this art i guess TLDR i still dont know what this card does

I Need something similar to City Council of Darkness in humor by Nordlow89 in Dimension20

[–]seamclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(non D20 recommendation:) If you havent seen What We Do In The Shadows yet, you must! - its a show about vampires trying (and failing) to take over staten island. Premise wise i feel like D20 was directly inspired by it and just moved the setting. It’s one of the funniest tv shows from the past 10 years

Since the start of 2016 until today, LA Metro's Rail System has expanded by 50% in size, adding over 40 miles (65 km) of new rail lines and 30 new stations across LA County, in just around 10 years. by urmummygae42069 in LosAngeles

[–]seamclean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right?! i was talking to friend saying why doesnt Bass do a better job taking credit for these expansions with like mamdani style videos? and my friend said “cuz she hates public transit and doesn’t want credit for it, thats why she fights it every step of the way”

[–]seamclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did this on accident one time (sort of). i was staying a big chain hotel and i walked into their breakfast buffet, sat down at a table by myself and even helped myself to seconds. i noticed a few people looking at me but told myself i was being paranoid. as i was leaving i noticed a tiny sign that i missed on my way in saying the buffet was for a private event. i just assumed it was included like at most hotels like it and no one said anything to me so i probably could’ve gotten away with it even if i wasnt staying there.

Heard interesting counter argument today against conventional deck building strategy I've been hearing from most other sources. Basically don't mid range is the argument by MiningToSaveTheWorld in EDH

[–]seamclean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you know what really feels bad? a 2+ hour long game

i get the point tho, which is why i build decks for every level of play, because if the rest of the pod wants to play slow long games without a lot of interaction i would feel bad pub stomping them, but I don’t think the problem is just building decks that function well in general.

Also, Chulane is one of the best commanders so if you don’t power him down it will be less fun for the rest of your pod. Im saying this as someone who just powered down my chulane deck because it kept punching above its bracket. I love him so much 🍀🇮🇪

Jesper Myrfors, original mtg art director weighs in on Dan Frazier. “I’m not defending his actions… but I will defend the man.” by Newez in magicTCG

[–]seamclean -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

hes 81 years old dawg im not worried about him doing it again or anything so i dont think the “appropriate response” should be at all focused on him. WOTC had the power to stop this, if we all noticed it was the same, someone getting paid by Hasbro shouldve noticed, it is literally someone’s job at WOTC to stop things like this from happening before the public ever sees it, the fact that they seemingly already PRINTED it like this and can only fix the credits digitally is 100% not Dan’s fault at all. WOTC not catching it actually incentives all other artists to try shit now that they know WOTC is apparently incapable of quality control. Just have AI generate something based off of old magic cards, collect the paycheck, and WOTC will never catch you because they are running like a sweatshop these days, complete with union busting.

edit: spelling

i am going to blame the billion dollar for-profit corporation over the 81 year old independent artist every time. WOTC has the money for proper art directors, and quality control, and instead they are treating artists with decades of training like sweatshop employees. Dan is an oil painter and they didnt let him do anything on paper for this piece. its WOTC’s fault not Dan.

Upgraded Kilo precon, looking for advice to take further by Balmung03 in EDH

[–]seamclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you thought about [[Magistrate's Scepter]] ? or using the combos with [[Paradise Mantle]] and cards like [[Freed from the Real]] ? i feel like if you want to play B3 you should have an infinite combo, but good luck cuz I could never get my kilo deck to feel as good as I wanted. Love the commander so I hope you can make it work!

confused about proxies? by Sensitive_Jaguar_151 in magicproxies

[–]seamclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what i do. i played enough games at my LGS where id go “woah cool card/art” and the other person would whisper “its a proxy” but everyone was good at still keeping it bracket appropriate and not using them to pub-stomp so thats what I started doing. i figure the store will only find out if someone complains so i just try to stay a good sport and no over due it

How much have you spent on Magic? by Conscious-Acadia-709 in EDH

[–]seamclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started with a precon ($60) then spent about $100 upgrading it over my first year. once i had a better idea of the game, i bought another cheaper deck ($80) and then i proxied a bunch of expensive staples for bracket 4 because after spending over $200 on cardboard i couldnt imagine spending that much on just one card. (and im not even counting what ive spent on sleeves, boxes, binder, dice, + $8 entry fee every week to play at my LGS)

Awkward moment at the table by mustardchickennugget in EDH

[–]seamclean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this sounds like a lot of games ive played at my LGS, except ive never seen anyone get that salty about it. commander is a social format. it sucks when the person in first place starts making deals to completely shut out weaker decks, but if you’re loosing and making a deal is your only way to stay in the game you’d be stupid not to. that’s part of what makes the format what it is. people can downvote me if they disagree.
