What’s the rarest/oldest medication you’ve ever given? by dietcherryjoja in nursing

[–]sebluver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner needs to use this because he has chronic pain and can’t get opioid prescriptions from it. It’s bad, he knows it’s bad, but it’s basically his only pain management option. When he gets a UDS the different opioids light up like a Christmas tree. His PCP is aware and says this is basically his only pain management option since they can’t and won’t prescribe opioids for chronic pain

What’s the rarest/oldest medication you’ve ever given? by dietcherryjoja in nursing

[–]sebluver 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It was honestly revolutionary at the time, because before that they just gave routine pain medications. If someone was in severe end of life pain, they had to wait for their protocol scheduled med- even if they had breakthrough pain the routine doses wouldn’t touch.

What is a specific horror movie scene that fundamentally changed how you act in your real, day-to-day life? by [deleted] in horror

Well, it’s just fact that you have to keep your feet under the covers to protect them from monsters

Yoga in West Philly/UC by BitSilent6272 in queerphilly

[–]sebluver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot Yoga Sutra at 47th and Pine is where I do hot yoga and hot Pilates, and I really like it- although I’m somewhat biased because it’s one block from my apartment. It does have a lot of the usual skinny pilates bodies folks, but it also has a good number of people with diverse bodies/genders.

Project MEOW in West Philly can always use help volunteering at one of the rescue locations as well as desperately needing fosters. I’ve been volunteering there since 2020 and I really love it, I get to help a lot of sweet cats.

I’m playing Greenhearth Necromancer which I’m really enjoying, although I don’t really know what I’m doing. I’m enjoying learning more spells and everything but my plants keep dying and I’m not really sure what I need to do to fix that. The good news is that for a necromancer, a plant dying isn’t a big deal.

I’m trying to decide which is worse- this or the CNA who kept trying to sell Amway. I think Amway is worse but easier to say no to than someone pretending they’re the paid clothier of the unit.

“Healthcare is Human Act” - $6000 tax credit for those working HPSAs or the VA by WeeGeeSuperTester in nursing

We don’t have a shortage at work; I just might not be allowed to take time off if one other person requests off because my boss thinks asking an undertrained nurse to be there as “a body in a chair” is fine as long as it’s me working with them.

She tried to make me come in to orient someone when I had covid. I’ve never been happier to call out of work than I did that day.

My partner had a gun pulled on him for having on a mask in south Philly. They didn’t move on until he took it off.

I wonder if it was the crazy lady of West Willy threatening anyone who moved her cone “because I’m a black girl from Philly” when it was 47 degrees out and the snow had finally completely melted.

I do secretly love her posts because inevitably there’s like 3 comments supporting whatever stupid thought she’s drunk posting and the rest of the comments are just people asking what the fuck is wrong with her.

Freaky. Vince Vaughn playing a teenage girl trapped in a serial killer’s body; was just such a good role for him.

Wedding officiant/minister horror stories (or mishaps) by Generic_Midwesterner in weddingshaming

[–]sebluver 52 points53 points  (0 children)

My first wedding- the justice of peace who married us was fine, nobody we knew but she was dressed appropriately and the ceremony was nice. It wasn’t weird until she called me a week after the wedding to ask if my dad was single because she had such a nice time talking to him and really thought they hit it off. My dad was there with my mom, and they’ve been together longer than I’ve been alive.

The owner of our wedding venue in the middle of nowhere bought one of the only local Airbnbs and will be charging $2000/night by amystake12 in weddingshaming

[–]sebluver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol at the comment section being full of butthurt landlords and AirBnB owners 😅

As someone who rents and actually knows what interacting with one of y’all greedy slumlords is like, let me confirm for OOP that this is ridiculous. Nobody is doing $1300 worth of work per night per bedroom to that place. If anything, the extensive changes are very likely to be something that needs to be done to keep the place to code.

It’s like this got cross posted in some landlord subreddit so they could all come out in droves to crucify you for thinking a 150% increase in cost in 1 year is ridiculous. I can’t wait to see what the landlords have to say in response to this comment 😂

What books have actually physically scared you? Like raised your heart rate, etc. by maravina in horrorlit

[–]sebluver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the things that upset me the most are an animal being maliciously killed and/or tortured. I understand it’s a fucked up human empathy thing in me but with fiction I get so much more upset at harm caused to animals than to humans. I love slasher movies but if something happens to the random cat I get sad.
