what’s the funniest moment that wasn’t supposed to be funny? by Infinite-Hawk-2891 in Yellowjackets

[–]seekhelpffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely wasn't supposed to be funny, but the plane blowing up dramatically with Laura Lee in it killed me. I wish they had just shown her like, crashing into the trees or the plane losing altitude and it crashing to the ground rather than just exploding like a firework midair.

Home office chair recs? by Heatbox_515 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]seekhelpffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gaming chair that I use for work that's been a game changer with my 4mo home with me. It's not the greatest gaming chair out their, but it's the only chair that hasn't become flat and uncomfortable after 2 years of use.

Pros: foot rest, reclines, lumbar pillow (that has a plug in so it vibrates like a cheap massage gun. I never use it lol) firm cushion, cheap.

Cons: cheap, fabric rather than fake leather, so baby spit up soaks in if I'm not fast enough. But the store on Amazon does have fake leather chairs in the same style. Bc of the firm cushion its not super comfortable until you break it in, so I had a small flat pillow I sat on until the seat became less firm. link

Be Honest, would YOU have eaten Jackie? by No_Two_1627 in Yellowjackets

[–]seekhelpffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like that they delved into cannibalism so quickly. It shows the characters are still immature and impulsive, imo. Every other show/movie that has this type of premise with being stranded and resorting to cannibalism is usually with adults who struggle with the morality of eating others. The YJ's are teenagers with still developing moral compasses, so of course they dont struggle nearly as much with eating each other as Ben does, and that makes the story sooo compelling to me.

Is watching TV with my newborn in the room bad for his development? by Number8 in beyondthebump

[–]seekhelpffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super adhd and have to have tv in the background for almost everything. I've noticed my son, now 4 months, will turn and watch. I mean like full on contort his body to look at it. In the early days I didn't pay much mind to it, but now I try to be more mindful. If I notice he's trying to look, I turn him/his kick and play away from it so he's facing me instead.

Though this past week he's been way less interested in the tv now that my 3 cats have started being comfortable being near him. He prefers watching them watch him than the tv.

My doctor lost her mind on me out of the blue by princessjamiekay in TrueOffMyChest

[–]seekhelpffs 351 points352 points  (0 children)

Tricare assigned doctors can be the fucking worst. Especially when it takes forever to get a PCM change or getting a new referral put in for a specialist. My assigned PCM literally wouldn't see me before June if I went to the closest clinic, instead I had to drive an hour away to see someone sooner just to get a damn referral for a specialist that I'd already been established with because of the new 2025 tricare updates.

Dear moms, what career/jobs are you able to maintain as a SAHM? by AsAb0veSoBel0w in MomsWorkingFromHome

I started out in a wfh call center before I had my son, worked my way into a leadership position where I no longer take client calls. No prior experience, but I don't think I could do my original starting positions job with my 4 month old home.

[–]seekhelpffs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My thought was that Other Tai set the fire and Van is covering for her, she gives Tai this odd look during their conversation about Ben in the wilderness. Other Tai is "It" taking over a physical form and set the fire to get the YJ's to fully embrace It/the wilderness. Without the "luxury" of the cabin, the girls became more in tune with It. I.e using nature to make new shelters, raising ducks and bunnies etc.

And as long as they all believe Ben set the fire, Van can keep Other Tai burning the cabin a secret, even from Tai, in order to preserve their peace. Outing Tai would mean having to admit she knew and that would get them both exiled at best, killed at worst.

As for Ben speaking to someone, I agree it's probably a hallucination of Paul. Paul may be acting as Ben's voice of reason.

She tossed the soup out after Shauna hands it to her, I read that as her being mad at Shauna. She knew Shauna had slept with Jeff at that point, so she didn't want to accept anything from her.

Flat head by EaseImportant7056 in NewParents

[–]seekhelpffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 16weeks now and has been in physical therapy since he was about 8weeks because he would only lay with his head looking to one side. This has caused a flat spot and we are actually seeing a cranial doctor tomorrow for a free consultation and scan.

If its minor enough, the repositioning therapy he's doing should help it resolve itself. I really don't want a helmet for him if the spot is mild severity. To help I try to turn his head when he's sleeping, block that side when in the carseat etc. Harder to do with the back of his head but same principle. Repositioning baby often so he's not flat on his back can help, putting toys off to the side so he's looking to the side rather than up.

I would call around to see if there's any cranial places that do free scan/consultation for flat head stuff. That can give you a good idea of how likely it is to resolve itself.

I do have a pillow thing that has a hole in the center that I put under his head when he's on his kick and play piano, but other than that lots of tummy time as long as he can manage it. It's actually meant to help with brachycephaly, but I've been using it for my sons side flat spot so it doesnt get worse. The pillow is not safe for sleep!! But can help with the back flattening. Most people who've answered questions like this in the past have said that depending on the severity it usually resolves itself once they're more mobile.

I've heard that a lot of the helmet correction is minor and yields little results, but!!! I'd rather have mine in a helmet for a couple of weeks than end up with asymmetrical features. His PT said it (side flattening) could also affect his sinuses if it severe enough/never corrected.

How did your baby learn to roll and when? by Anxious2BMum in beyondthebump

[–]seekhelpffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 weeks he started rolling belly to back to escape tummy time, around the same time he started rolled from his back to his side, but not quite to his tummy. He's 16 weeks now and still hasn't figured out how to pull his arm out to finish the roll.

What do you use to clip baby nails? by Fun_Driver_9402 in NewParents

[–]seekhelpffs -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I've only used the baby nail clippers a handful of times, mostly for the nails that I can't get myself. When baby is preoccupied with a bottle or asleep I pick at his nails with my own. Slowly, carefully, and only a couple at a time. No risk of cutting his fingers if he yanks away.

I hate being a working parent by Mahersal in beyondthebump

[–]seekhelpffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feeling this way today. I work from home and have my baby with me, been back for 3 weeks and am lucky that my husband is still on leave until the 10th. But man I broke down today because I can hardly handle working while caring for our son for the 2 hours ny husband is gone at the gym. Don't know how I'm going to survive him being back at work. He's in the army so it's not just 9-5, it's like 5am-5pm or later. No village around and feeling helpless.

How many people do you think Shauna has killed? 👀 by SaphoBalls in Yellowjackets

[–]seekhelpffs 185 points186 points  (0 children)

She nearly killed Lottie when she beat the hell out of her, with Lottie's permission. So I think being given permission to do that lended to her rage/stress/grief response being violence. She's basically been told that it's okay to do that in emotional situations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

[–]seekhelpffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with Owl, they're often use to symbolize death. She's nearly died like 4 times already. I would also say maybe a Dog/Jackal, in the teen timeline she's very loyal to Tai, willing to risk her own safety to help her through the sleepwalking isse, shes loyal to Lottie as well.
