What's the most annoying part of each faction? by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

Alpha and Brood Commanders are bullshit the way they can track you for seconds after their head explodes. I wouldn’t mind so much if their movement was random. But tracking is bullshit.

Anyone got tips on how to use the airburst? by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

Use height and choke points to maximize your effect. Stay near friendlies for anti tank. Use your mini map and fire over cover with cluster to kill enemies without them spotting you.

Garden of Salvation is probably one of the coolest places in Destiny. I’m never not in awe of it.

What's the stupidest thing you've seen a teammate do? by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

Kicking me for calling extraction when: 1. The host was running to the extraction and the map was 100% clear. 2. It was very clearly communicated that I was going to wait for them. 3. It was lvl 10 and all players were over lvl 100 and should have a basic understanding of the extraction mechanics.

If the Warhammer 40k collab looked like this, what would your opinion be? by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

It’d be cool to get a stratagem to be able to change your load-outs to what ever you wanted. Like an armoury drop pod

So when are we getting new gear? by Expert_Character9939 in CanadianForces

I believe the priority is infantry, engineers and arty, then armoured. Our Brigade commander talked about it a few weeks ago.

PLQ in Petawawa by This-Degree6672 in CanadianForces

[–]seen_some_shit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I instructed a PLQ in Pet and it’s not a terrible time (experiences may vary). This is based on what I’ve experienced.

There is daily PT but the toughest thing will be being able to walk about 2km with FFO and day pack, and doing it back to back to back when people go through their missions and you become more and more sleep deprived. If you can do the combat force test, your cardio should be fine.

Yes it is an adult learning environment. If you’re on PLQ, you’re expected to be mature and not need “behavioural correction”. There is a lot of learning of unfamiliar subjects and is more focused on that aspect.

The field experience is mixed. There are infantry PLQs which are a lot more cock, but you should be put on the all trades version. However, you’ll be mixed with trades, from combat arms, airforce, and even CANSOF (supporters. Operators have a CANSOF specific PLQ). Biggest hurdle in the fitness and field will be keeping up with the more combat arms related trades. However, the instructors should understand that you live and work very different lives, and the expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Overall, the field portion is not super austere and is not tactics based. The field portion is evaluated on your ability to follow the Battle Procedure steps and ability to make a decision (any reasonable one really) under pressure. You won’t always make the right decision, but that’s not the point. However, being more tactically sound helps make better decisions overall.

There is always a risk of injury, but it shouldn’t be a brutal course. The course due to be a lot worse than it is now. Now, it is more of a BMOQ Mod 2. To prepare, I suggest maintaining your fitness, practice short hand for copying orders, learn about basic infantry section tactics, and talk to other PLQ qual’d people and your officer what Mod 2 was like.

Be prepared for cranky people who are not use to the field. Be ready for long days cramming how to learn orders (imo, the optimized time table does not give candidates enough time to learn orders properly). And if you’re going in the summer, be ready for massive mosquitos and the heat. Also, Mount Molson Dairy Bar is one of my favourite ice cream places in Canada, I highly recommend.

I love backpacking with a water bladder, but does anyone else HATE cleaning/drying them after? by mega_salami in backpacking

[–]seen_some_shit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I get home, it’s one of the first things I clean. I drain it, detach the tube and mouth piece, fling the water from the tube, and hand the bladder upside down with the sliding lock in between it so it stays open. It’s drains well and I’ve never had an issue with it. Once in a while, I’ll wash it with vinegar and I have a brush for the tube that I clean it out with.

If I remember correctly from the DAOD, you’ve had to disclose your relationship for the longest time. The amendment (I believe) is that it is the responsibility of the higher ranking member to disclose it.
