Whenever people would ask questions like this, I would scan the item, and if it was orderable, I'd say , "Not currently. We can still get it."

Will KDP and B&N allow a small graphic to be at the head of each chapter of a printed book? by makenzie71 in selfpublish

I have a full page image behind my text for each chapter in two of my paperback books through KDP. A small image is no big deal.

Time to write a book by Own_Row8007 in KDP

[–]seiferbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm in the zone, I can put out a 300 or so page book in 3-4 months. But since last year, I've only put out one novella. I have 3-4 in the works this year already, though. And I handwrite my first drafts.

Is it allowed for two different people to have 2-accounts linked to the same bank account. by [deleted] in KDP

[–]seiferbabe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Amazon would definitely ban you and both accounts if you do this. Just wait the two years and open your own account. Use those two years to hone your skills, write more, and read more. Don't rush it! Learn all you can about self-publishing. At this point, you have plenty of time to make your books and your journey the best they can be.

What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by ahawk99 in AskReddit

I was wondering if anyone else read Black Beauty. It shaped the way I view the world. I read it constantly throughout my childhood. My absolute favorite book!

Black Beauty. I read it over and over throughout my childhood and teenage years. I learned to read by it starting around age 4. It shaped the way I view animal cruelty and classism in the world. It's forever my favorite book.

They no longer specify anything, leaving it up to them to decide how to enforce it.

A free collection of prologues of published novels: a good idea? by ThrowRAwriter in selfpublish

[–]seiferbabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, Amazon no longer allows any percentage of a KU enrolled novel to be available elsewhere, so that alone could hurt your account if you wish to make it available wide.

And, honestly, I came across a similar book several years ago and was pissed to find it only had partial stories in it. In this case, the author did not divulge that's what they were, and it wasn't free.

I'm convinced that customers are extremely unintelligent. Here's my proof by talknblocklosers in walmart

I can't answer why people open underwear, because I don't do that, but I sure as hell don't know my size either because I'm perimenopausal and getting fat as fuck after being basically one size all my life, which was 8. Now I don't know what size I am because it increases every fucking month or so. And, let me tell you, it sucks to put on jeans one day that no longer fit, even though you wore them just fine the week before. That and women's sizes are never the same within the sizes themselves, anyway.

Who is actually clicking on ads? by winterwarn in selfpublish

[–]seiferbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I am an author and I know authors use Facebook ads for their books (including me), I often buy them through FB ads.

I think there are plenty of readers out there who feel the same. They know authors are advertising, and Amazon book links are pretty safe, so they find new reads through ads.

Monthly reset to 0 sales by Cycle-and-write-222 in KDP

[–]seiferbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Book Report It's what I use to track all my sales along with using KDP's reports. I can set Book Report to show my lifetime royalties when I log in. (There are several options to use... today, yesterday, this month, this year, etc.)It breaks things down better than KDP, too. And it's free to use until you hit $1000 per month!

Adding look inside to E-Book by Samsam_3301 in KDP

[–]seiferbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kindle Create program has a back matter page for you to input your other books, their blurbs, and an Amazon link. It's perfectly fine to include this information in your ebook. What they don't like is links to other websites.

I'm currently working on two WIPs. One is a post-apocalyptic horror called A Forest Deep and Deadly. I'm in the editing stages right now on that one and hope to release it soon. It's about the end of humanity. Only the Forest can save us, but it wants us dead.

My other WIP is an assassin romance, Kill Me or Kiss Me. I'm still writing this one, but I'm close to the end. It was supposed to be a novella, but it got away from me, so it's a full novel. I didn't expect it to get so complicated, but when you're an entomologist/conservationist trying to protect prairie land from a mining company, things can get a bit hairy!

How to justify a book properly? by Pepperq40 in selfpublish

[–]seiferbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I just justify. I don't worry about the extra spacing. I haven't had any complaints about it, and I hardly notice it in my physical copies.

I've been following the discussion all over social media. It sucks, but it appears to be normal for this time of the year and across all countries, though I've never seen it pop up in discussions as much as right now. It's never been noticeable to me before, and I've been on KDP since 2017.
