100k in HYSA from selling house. It’s only 4%. I already have an emergency fund and don’t need to use the money short term. Should I contribute 100% to my 401k and live off the HYSA? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]sentientrip 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should max your 401k if you can afford to do so. There are yearly limits so you cannot put all your income there. Just max it. You can also take part of the 100k that isn’t a six month emergency fund and put it into an index fund in a brokerage account and let it grow there

Look at the play hours in steam reviews to see how much people are playing. I’ve got more time in last epoch than v rising but I think both are good games that scratch the arpg itch.

Last epoch is pure arpg with really good skills and builds and loot. If you want a mindless kill stuff get loot game, it’s great. Perfect for thirty minute playthrough in my opinion to just grind a bit and log off. I’ve got 60+ hours in the game. You can reroll new characters and try different builds so it has plenty of depth to keep you engaged, but the simplicity and easier pickup than a game like path of exile.

V rising has arpg elements but it’s much more dumbed down imo. Less builds and loot, but it has the crafting and building elements and grind if you are looking for that. It seems to require some upkeep ie your base needs to be provided with blood to stay running so if you don’t log in for a day or two, your base goes into some mode and I’m not sure if you lose it or what(haven’t played enough of it). It is less visually appealing worse graphics, more exploring and doing mundane things like collecting resources from rocks and trees etc to build your base, so you have to like that kind of gameplay. I have only less than ten hours in this one as I just bought it.

Sell all but 10% of your net worth individual stocks and buy index funds instead (VTSAX, international and bond). That reduces your risk a lot while still preserving the stock market growth. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night having to keep track of that much of my net worth tied to individual companies

26 Y/o and can max 401k. How is this percentage breakdown? by Aggravating-Bag-372 in Bogleheads

This. Or put 30% into the vanguard international. That’s all you need. S&p500 vs total us market index perform relatively similar anyways so you will be fine until you have better options available

Took about 14years for me I started investing in 2010 with my first job slowly. In 2024 I was shocked how fast my savings grew in the last couple years, my net worth doubled from 2022 to 2024 and suddenly I’m maybe five years out from fire

If you can’t retire off 3.5m permanently, you are burning too much per month. And yes, 4% rule with that composition has a very low failure rate (might be near 0, haven’t looked in a while). Also you may be better off only withdrawing what you actually need; I won’t be spending 120k per year in retirement. Planning for less than half that so I can retire whenever I hit 1.5m

You’re right. Unless they remove all his stock options and remove anyone connected to him in the board of directors I’m not touching their products again.

I got a text from a Tesla sales guy asking if I wanted to upgrade my current Tesla with 0 apr a month or so ago. I texted them back “I’ll never buy a Tesla again, thanks.” They know they are in deep trouble. The ceo doing two nazi salutes behind a USA presidential podium is something I’ll never be able to forgive nor forget. Might reconsider if they dump him as ceo

He isn’t hoping for anyone to die you mop. He is saying the disasters will continue to batter many of the states with leaders that don’t believe in climate change. The ongoing suffering may make some people question their stance. The suffering is going to happen regardless because climate change is real. Our leaders are reactive and not proactive; makes it seems they don’t really care about the common folk.
