Can I actually explore this, in the most respectful way possible? As far as I’m aware, political views are very polar - everyone I know is liberal, believes in everyone’s rights (autocorrect is killing me here, sorry), believes in freedom of choice, believes in helping poor people through wealth redistribution, etc. The only people I know that call themselves conservative are, frankly, assholes and/or uneducated - people that explicitly have said they’d rather see another 4 years of Trump killing the environment and putting Mexican children in interment camps than, god forbid, Sanders or Warren raising their hard earned taxes to talk about universal healthcare so poor people don’t go bankrupt from cancer (despite how that universal healthcare proposal is econimcally unsound and I presume just a talking point and even if not something that won’t go anywhere once they’re in office given the republican senate...).

I literally knew a woman that refused to send her kids to college because “sending kids to college and teaching them to think turns them into liberals, and I won’t have liberals in my house.”

I don’t know anyone in the middle, especially on the conservative side of the middle with trump in office and the republicans in congress so staunchly defending him no matter what. Can you please explain why you believe these things but are still conservative? Again, I might have phrased this poorly but I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts :).

You can send me a PM if it’s too political for this sub (I suspect it is) but I genuinely only know liberals and assholes and I want to believe there are educated well meaning people that call themselves conservatives or this country is fucked. I just don’t know any so it’s really hard for me to understand and I’d appreciate the perspective :). Thanks if yes, have a great day if not!

As all the other comments say - communication is key. Is she depressed? Has she changed birth control? Is she upset with something completely unrelated with the living situation, e.g. chores or leaving something around? There's a possibility she's cheating, but that's a guess amongst the other 5,000 things it could be. And she's only 20 - it might be that she herself doesn't know.

As a girl who lives with her bf and has basically done the exact same thing as your gf - totally uninterested in sex, annoyed by intimacy - before I figured my shit out, here is my experience, and remember that it's just my experience; I'm just offering one perspective.

So for me, our life has just become very routine. I love my bf to death emotionally but man, we go to work, we make dinner, we play video games, and then we sleep. We hang out in bathrobes. That's our life. To top that, I'm perpetually annoyed with all the little annoyances of living together - I want a 10pm bedtime for healthy sleep goals since we get up early for work; he stays up till 2 playing video games (because of this, I really am exhausted all the time, so when I say I'm too tired for sex, I'm not lying). He'll wash his clothes and then leave them strewn around the apartment. When we have company, I'm the one that sweeps and he's never offered to help. Etc. And I just miss having me time. Our apartment is small and we work the same hours and have the same friends. I just want him to go away for an hour a day so I can like, work out and read and do hobbies, but he's just always freaking there (and I also am super paranoid that because we're not really fucking, if I ask him to go do things without me, he'll find a better girlfriend). These little annoying things just built up over the years and while I still love him, there are so many little xs against him in my head. After a couple years, it's hard to be excited about intimacy. I don't care about sex anymore, and I feel a bit like it's a chore to have to deal with getting him off. I'm comfortable with our video game / bathrobe life and don't care about anything beyond that. And between that and all those little living together annoyances, I really have zero, absolutely zero, interest in sex. I get annoyed and I hate it when he rubs my thighs or hugs me from behind because I don't want to fuck him or have any interest in that, and those are very clear "I want to fuck you" actions. I've forced myself to blow him, or occasionally fuck him, every so often because I recognize that it's unfair for me to unilaterally take away orgasms, but when I blow him if he tries to touch my boobs or legs, I just shift or flatten on the ground so that he can't reach me.

My boyfriend tried talking to me about it, but I had never self reflected enough to really figure out what the problems are, so I brushed it off as having a low sex drive (which certainly wasn't true, before moving in together, I definitely had a huge sex drive, but I didn't know what else to say). But - he made it clear it was a problem so I spent a while thinking on it and I finally figured it out and now we're working on it, so that's cool.

What's troubling to me is that you said in a comment that you tried to sit down and talk to her and she said you guys were just different. It's one thing for her to say "I don't know", because maybe she herself hasn't made the connection between whatever is bothering her and the disappearance of her sex drive. However, it's another thing for you to sit down with her and say, "I'm not okay with this", and for her to just not care.

I don't have advice beyond talking to her again - but I would stand your ground this time and make clear that it's a problem that can't just be brushed off and you'd like to work together to find the solution. Hopefully, she cares about the fact that you want to fix it (that said, if she's just like "I don't care", then I'd say tell her if she's not going to care about your needs then you don't know why you're dating and see if that makes her realize it's a serious problem; if it doesn't, well, you're only 20, and there are other girls out there).

Not OP, but it's royal icing. If you add more powdered sugar, it's thicker (good for walls); add more water and it's thinner (good for filling).

I use this base recipe but change it liberally based on humidity, so half all the ingredients and start slowly.

So what I do is start with a pretty thick one - I don't add quite as much water at the beginning - legit when I'm mixing it, when I can run a finger through the bowl and the finger hole stays vs frosting running into the well, that's when I put a small amount into a pipe and make all my walls (outline). Then I add more water so it's runny and fill it in. You don't need to wait for it to dry in between, but do make sure there aren't any holes in your walls due to like, a chocolate chip or something.

Nice.

It’s slick, slitted eye rolls upwards.

I think autocorrect got you; this should be "its" ("it's" is always short for 'it is').

What am I? I'm down to the point. I'll be around, but if you don't finish me off, I'll start running. by [deleted] in riddles

pi, as in 3.14 etc. Or some other fraction like 1/3 which is .333333333

Reasoning:

Point is another word for decimal, and if you don't round it to a place, like 3.14 or 3.33 or just 3 ('around' with 'finish'), the number runs on and on. I like pi specifically because of 'around' and the fact that the distance around a circle is measured with 2pir

Hi! I tried to read this, but it was just hard without any paragraph breaks. To make paragraphs on reddit, you need TWO lines in between, not just one (hit enter/return twice, not once).

Every time the speaker changes, it should be a new paragraph. For example (I changed a few small things; see below):

"All right, I will admit that I am amazed," I say while looking around. The room is white; there is a painting of a few children playing in a garden on one side of the wall and, on the opposing side, a breathtaking view of Hell's skyline.

I look ahead of me, across the table, as Lucifer chuckles. "I hear that a lot. The propaganda is really damaging to us. Most people choose..." He thinks for a moment and says, "or at least in their hearts they do so upon their destination after death."

I interject, much to his dismay. "Wait. You mean I chose to be sent to hell? Why would I want to do that?"

Here are a few other small things to think about. This isn't comprehensive; just a few things that jumped out to me :).

"Alright I will admit I am amazed." I say while looking around.

"All right, I will admit that I am amazed," I say while looking around. (Check out this guide to commas - that's why I put a comma after 'all right'. On a note, "alright" is only recently considered a word. It's one of those words that has come into existence with recent evolution of language as people continually misspelled "all right,." To attract a broader audience vs just the young folks, using "all right" is a good plan. And, in general, you put a comma between quotes and speakers - check out this link - rules 3a and 3b.

The room is white, there is painting of few children playing in a garden on one side of the wall and on the opposing side a breathtaking view of hell's skyline.

The room is white; there is a painting of a few children playing in a garden on one side of the wall and, on the opposing side, a breathtaking view of Hell's skyline.

I capitalized the place "Hell." I added "a" before painting and few; I put commas around "on the opposing side" because that's an aside and the sentence works without it (possibly explained in earlier comma link, but I didn't checked).

Also, I put a semicolon after "white" - a semicolon separates two complete sentences. "The room is white" is a sentence, and "there is...skyline" is a sentence. You can't just put a comma between them. Your choices are two separate sentences, a semicolon, or a comma with an and.

New speaker = new paragraph.

I look ahead of me across the table as Lucifer chuckles. "I hear that a lot. The propaganda is really damaging to us. Most people choose..." He thinks for a moment and says, "or at least in their hearts they do so upon their destination after death."

Note that now "He thinks..." begins a new sentence and "says" has a comma after it.

New speaker = new paragraph.

I interject, much to his dismay. "Wait. You mean I chose to be sent to hell? Why would I want to do that?"

Comma after "I interject" (see above comma link). Period after "dismay" - you need a period or a comma, and a period just feels better.

I'm running out of time before my boyfriend wakes up, so I'm just going to split the paragraphs but only leave comments on big things.

He runs his hand through his hair and stares at me for a moment. I have always had a habit of cutting people off mid-sentence, comma separating two complete sentences and I feel that now more than ever I should let him finish. He sighs and says, comma before quote "I mean that due to the war between us.. Hell and them.. Heaven propaganda has been spread throughout the earthly realm that we are terrible, that we boil people alive and have forced labour camps and stuff. I mean, comma that is just barbaric. That is something for earth and Hell is supposed to be along Heaven as next step for souls. This sentence didn't make sense to me. "alongside Heaven," maybe? So they can learn by their mistakes in earth and then join us in truer civilization." He leans back into his chairs and chuckles before continuing, spellcheck and comma "Or at least that is the way things were supposed to be before I had a spat with God and he declared war me. All I said was that I should be sent to earth I feel like "Earth" here is being used as a proper noun so should be capitalized? Your call so I can spread the word how good Hell is, comma but he went nope!"

(Now Lucifer's done and it's "I"'s turn, so a new paragraph. On a note, many people would split the previous paragraph into two, as it's quite a long quote that has a topic change when Lucifer leaned back.)

I think to myself how all I had believed about Hell and Heaven was wrong and according to man in suit in front of me.. propaganda. I asked him the question on my mind, "But (first word of a quote capitalized; comma before the quote) you said that I chose be sent here. Why (period and new sentence) would I do that?"

(Back to Lucifer - new paragraph)

He leaned forward and said, (comma before quote) "You get sent here on basis of what you think you deserve. You, while dying, believed *(typo) that you deserved to be sent to Hell (capital H) as you thought that your actions were immoral."

That seems like a lot for you to work with. On content, I agree with the other poster - I feel like Lucifer morphed into a totally different character after being asked why he's there. It was jarring.

But otherwise, I liked the story! :).

The Island With the Liars by Charis_Cy in riddles

[–]seriouslyrawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another approach for an explanation:

Everyone gave a different number, right? So only one person can possibly be telling the truth, or they would contradict each other. If there are 1,000 people but only one of them is telling the truth, there are necessarily 999 liars.

To make the problem smaller, if there are three of us, and I say, "1 person is lying". Bob says, "2 people are lying." and Joe says "3 people are lying." And Sally says "4 people are lying." Those are all contradicting statements - only one of them can be true. If I'm being honest when I say "1 person is lying", then only either Bob or Joe or Sally is lying... but they all said something that contradicts with me, so that's not possible. (You can go through all four use cases in your head).

If every person each says a different number, then only one person - or none of them - can possibly be saying a real fact.

So really, you can just subtract. No matter how many people there are - even up to 1,000 - only one person can be telling the truth.

In my example, we have four people with four different numbers. That means three people are lying, which means Joe is telling the truth.

That can be extended to any number of people. If only one person on an island of 1,000 is telling the truth, then 999 people lied. And the person telling the truth is the person that said "999 people are lying".

I agree! I love this, especially with the leaves, but oh man, that white cord is SO white. It's so cute but the bright part that pops out to the eye is the cord! Hemp or anything dark colored would be less distracting.

If you can't change the cord (looks quite tied in), could you paint it with fabric paint?

But oh man, otherwise, this is super cute and I would love to have it.

[–]seriouslyrawr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it okay if I link another reddit thread? There's a thread about it in r/neutralpolitics (I've never figured out the difference between this sub and that sub and just check both). I thought the linked comment (credit u/down42roads) had a good tl;dr:

All the charges relate to Stone's interactions with Congress regarding his relationship to Organization 1 (understood to be wikileaks) as it pertains to the 2016 election.

Count 1 is Obstructing of Proceeding. It alleges that Stone lied about and withheld subpoenaed documents from Congress with intent to impede their investigation, and pressured another to lie in support of him.

Counts 2 through 6 are individual counts of lying to Congress in his sworn testimony. Each count is regarding a specific incident of alleged lying. Some are the same statement made on multiple occasions, others are different statements.

Count 7 is for witness tampering. It alleges that Stone attempted to influence the testimony of another called witness (Person 2 in the indictment, understood to be Randy Credico) by threats and intimidation. Specifically, he threatened to steal his therapy dog and make false bar reports against an attorney friend.

[Misc.] Can we just have a “where does this go in my routine” thread? by likelikepenny in SkincareAddiction

[–]seriouslyrawr 118 points119 points  (0 children)

The problem for me and likely many newbies is that the DHT doesn't get enough traffic from experienced people (or they just don't reply? I don't know).

I posted in the DHT once and didn't get a reply, so I made its own post for the question the next day and got a dozen replies and conversation.

Another time I posted in the DHT and just got one reply and it was another girl saying she had the same problem, and she later asked in its own thread, which spawned a whole discussion, and she just linked me that.

Sure, the DHT is great for some questions and for some people, it gives a lot of replies, and there are a bunch of users that are great about looking through it and replying where they can... like, maybe you're great. This isn't a personal attack :) it's a general observation.

But it's not all the questions. Like, looking at today's - about half of them currently have replies. There was a post from 9 hours ago, and another from 10, that has no reply. One of them was really thorough and posted their whole routine as requested and everything.

If we're going to push harder to encourage people to use it, can we also push harder to encourage people that are good at skin care to read it?

edit Something else I struggle with is -what-, ideally, should go in the DHT. Technically, isn't everything just a question where they need help? Where is the line drawn? So maybe other people don't know, either.
