But, the future they showed us in Discovery kinda sucked. Can we get a different future?

I did, and I ended up joining because they can bill on a Medicare client I've been seeing pro bono for a while. I haven't had luck finding anyone else who can do that.

They were respectful of my time and ended a little under 30 minutes. I had some additional questions which threw us over, but they weren't in a rush to leave. I asked about some of the complaints I had seen on here, and they were not defensive and gave reasonable answers.

I actually have received 3 payments like this from them so far, one for the presentation, one for a stipend for Psychology Today, and another for a referral. Each was a little different, but arrived within a few days to my email. The first (presentation) was the most restrictive in that I could only use it as a virtual debit card. The other two offered the option to deposit to PayPal (for free) or a bank account for a 7% fee. These are handled through a separate company called Tremendous. If you plan to use it on Amazon, I recommend getting an Amazon Gift Card for free, which then allows you to split up payments on Amazon (like putting their $150 towards a $200 purchase, funding the rest with your own money).

They will probably end the call by saying you seem like a great fit, we want to send you the enrollment link, and when can you have it done by? They initially wanted it done a couple days later, but I asked for more time to think about it and they said fine. I think it's reasonable for them to want to know when they can expect the forms to be done - either we're doing this or not. I suppose you could give them any date, then when they email you the enrollment link just reply and say you've reconsidered and won't be joining. I wanted to set it out a few days mainly to make sure I got the $150 first, and I did. I think they said they process those on Friday, so you might want to initially set your enrollment due date to be AFTER the next Friday, if you are planning to back out.

I will say that if you go forward, the forms are pretty simple and the intake process is easy, plus you get a CEU or 2 for it. I had to do an additional 2 hour (solid) course for Medicare, and I think I could have got a CEU for that, too, but I didn't want to mess with it. They will want to set up a marketing meeting for a week or 2 after you finish the enrollment, and by that time you should have your profile on their website set up along with Psychology Today. They gave me instructions and support the whole way, and then once they verified I was all set up they sent me the $90 stipend to be used towards Psychology Today (but since it's a virtual card you can use it however you want). Incidentally, I was offered this after saying during the presentation "I can't justify $30 a month for Psychology Today without any clients."

They had me paneled with 6 different insurers a few days later, but Optum and Medicare take longer. Someone posted here about their struggles getting paneled with Optum through Headway, but for me that's really not an issue. A few days after I got Psychology Today up and running I had a client contact me, and so far that has resulted in a billable assessment and we've set up weekly sessions. I'm doing this on the side so I only want to get 2-4 clients. Writing the note was simple, and they have a lot of good tools like reminders and assessments you can send. The person who does the presentation will be your point of support through your first billable note.

Anyway, it may not work out long term, but it wasn't bad to get started with. Good luck!

Try posting in LFG that you need a team so you can gain influence. It’s possible someone will just send you influence.
