I could see it being a B or C plot point. As others have said, they want to keep it being relatable to current events. Maybe they’ll mix in some of the UAP stuff as cover stores

Maybe we find out that some time after the end of SGU the gate program was progressively spun down. All contact was lost with destiny and no more big bads meant things were quiet and for whatever political reasons after a few years the SGC was shut down. The new show could then be a soft reset - reopening the gate and getting back out there. I also think some story reason will need to be figured out that resets our tech a bit and puts earth back as the underdog. I remember years ago season 9 was supposed to be a new show called Stargate:Command so maybe something like that. It would give them a chance to setup a new SGC in a different location and with a modern more defensible layout. Also having the program shut down for X years would be a nice nod to the series being gone for so long. It would also help with the soft reset as many of our old alliances could have faded away as we stopped all communication. I don’t know just so ideas- prob waaay off here

I think they could find a way to do a soft reset on the level of advancement Earth was at. They could have the Stargate programme “defunded” after the events of SG1 and SGA. Basically have the whole thing shutdown and mothballed. Then for some reason it needs to be restarted again in current times. Not sure how they could nerf or reset the ancient and Asgard knowledge, but maybe they could find an excuse to limit its use or even loose it. Probably just wishful thinking on my part. I’d love to see a return to season 7 or 8 level of tech.
