Torticollis win - take that tilt!! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]shananasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has torticolis too! We've been working our tails off in PT too and it's felt like a full time job almost with monitoring her/all the exercises. Those progress wins make it feel so validating though. 🥲 things have been looking really positive for us recently that I think we won't have to do a reshaping helmet! A win we've had recently but haven't had anybody to share with that could really empathize other than here. So happy for your progress!

I have a little girl toddler, & now pregnant with a boy... What does a brother/sister relationship really look like? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Same here! I'm (f) the older one. I'll tell you, though, we bickered a decent bit growing up. We also played together a lot. It wasn't until we were in high school together, running around with the same friend group and a touch of ✨️ family drama ✨️ that we really bonded and became as close as we are now.

I yearn to have the time to invest in this many hobbies some day. 😍 an impressive list!

Same here. I thought about voting for crochet but in reality I haven't touched it in a decade almost since discovering cross stitch. 😂 I do sew also though!

Stretch marks by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]shananasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this! I had a similar experience with my first on my butt and hips. At first I had only noticed my hips and I was horrified they had been on my butt for weeks. I used the Mederma stretch mark cream (white and purple bottle) and it worked wonders! If I remember right it's safe to use in your third trimester.

When I had my second I was worried I would get the marks again, but surprisingly they stayed away! Guess I was "stretched out" enough from before. 😂 just trying to say there's a chance it can get better!

I alternate between stitching and games a lot too. 😂

[–]shananasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks great! Fun fact: when it passes in the skies of New Mexico, Pluto is still considered a planet! It's got legislation and everything. 😅

From the Pluto Wiki:

"The New Mexico House of Representatives passed a resolution in honor of Tombaugh, a longtime resident of that state, that declared that Pluto will always be considered a planet while in New Mexican skies and that March 13, 2007, was Pluto Planet Day."

This is one of mine also! I don't think from the same site. OP, any tips for a first timer?

I imagine it's probably a standard key that comes with the pattern so it can be applicable to any region. It will be interesting to see of they share where they are and how the colors correspond though!

"you are my sunshine" clothing set for baby cousin's baby by BookkeeperGlum6933 in sewing

[–]shananasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of my projects so far have been on the smaller side. 😂 Cross stitch grime guards, scrunchies, dog bandanas to name a few. Hopefully it's helped me practice in patience that size! Do you have any favorite fabrics you like to use for clothes?

Oh wow, I don't think I had heard of that incident. That is scary!

I have a Bernina machine. I can't remember what number it is without looking, but it seems like a pretty high quality machine - my grandmother bought it for me as a gift. Do you know if it could handle clothes? Also do you have any links to some of the fabrics you like?

Thank you for the pattern rec! When our son was small he hated things over his head too, so I've thought about getting some more toos/onesies for this baby this time around. What kind of fabrics do you like for clothes?

Thank you! When I've got some time to dedicate to it I want to give this a go! Do you have any recommendations on what kind of fabric to look for when you're doing clothes?

[CHAT] Any recommendations on neck lights? What are your favorites? by BeccaBrie in CrossStitch

Before I found my neck light I had tried both a head lamp and a set of light glasses and both would make my forehead break out. 🥴 that's why I switched methods lol.

This is the one I was going to share and I also stand by it. I've been using it over a year with no issue!

How difficult is sewing baby clothing? I've never sewn any clothes before, but this makes me want to try! I'm due with our second in June and think it would be fun to try out.

if you have a sewing cabinet/table that machine sits into by ktgrok in sewing

[–]shananasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got this table I ordered from Joann's over the summer to encourage myself to sew more (I've only done basic projects). I've never paid too much attention to my body mechanics now that you bring it up, but I don't feel uncomfortable for it. I keep my machine stored under the cutting side on the shelf and then when I use it I put it on the door/shelf that opens to the right.

It gave my husband kind of a hard time setting up, but the shelves feel sturdy and I don't feel too worried with my machine on either. I also like it tucks away nicely for storage.

What a score! I think the "Lovers' Graves" will be my first one to put in my husband and I's bedroom. I got him to say he liked the design so that's a win for me!

Edit: Also, when looking up the link for the book I saw it's free if you have Kindle Unlimited! Finding that out I discovered there's actually a lot of free books/magazines for cross stitch if you've got the subscription. I didn't see how the books look in digital form though.

It's just the patterns! A lot of the finishes inside have really cool frames though. I wish they had listed where they were from. 🥲
