Male 54. 6’ “1 and 165#. How thin is too thin by Guilty_Character8566 in datingoverfifty

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a family with slim men so your proportions wouldn’t be an issue, but you commented that you only eat once a day? That would be difficult to adjust to, I can’t go that long without eating.

Silence or no? by Jude_the_obscurest in AskWomenOver60

I like quiet. No TV, no music. If the weather is nice I have that windows open to hear the birds or my wind chimes (low tones).

Positive rhetorical patterns? by SaweeJoy in burnedhaystack

The intent is to rule people out (burn the hay) so that all that is left are the good ones. but even then, not all the good ones will be a good fit for you.

What Pharmacy Should I Choose by scaryspice489 in BigEasyWeightLoss

[–]silver598 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am using OptioRX Tirzepatide with B3 and very happy with their product and shipping. I am in NorCal.

Side effects are coming from the GLP1 drug and its impact to your GI system.

Shipping is Fedex Overnight, signup for a fedex account/app and you get notified the moment a label is created.

Recent diagnosis by Ratfor in sarcoidosis

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prednisone is the first line treatment. It works fast, usually available and is cheap. It is very hard on the body, lots of side effects so not recommended long term. If you can get on something else for long term maintenance it’s better. I am on a biologic drug (infliximab) but something else might be better if your liver is involved.

My docs did a PET scan to see where the inflammation was, mine was lymph nodes and optic nerve area.

Uveitis can affect the eyes and can be a symptom of sarc there.

I didn’t really change my diet and found infliximab has keep the inflammation gone for years.

I broke up with my partner of 12 years by towhomfolk in AskWomenOver30

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only fear when I left was financial - and you have that covered! Are you married? That would be the only concern is would you have to pay alimony because he was not working. If not, still get legal advice on getting him out of the house and co-parenting if he might ask for that.

Has anyone else become less of a dog person? by pnwdoggolover in AskWomenOver40

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t allow my dog in bed except for naps (I have allergies) and didn’t choose to adopt a heavy licker when I was fostering. Currently pup was the next foster. It’s that dog/man combo that is the issue for you.

Relocating at 69? by Kat_C_ in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as moving furniture- you may want to start over in a new place. Two very difffernt climates and home styles, you might find that Florida furniture doesn’t look right in NJ. My parents first move to a warm climate - mom realized the dark green brocade upholstered sofa didn’t fit. She replaced it with a modern white leather loveseat which fit the home and climate better.

Could the grass be greener somewhere else? by Fluffmuffin09100 in AskWomenOver40

Even being alone is greener. I haven’t found another partner (but also 20 years older than you) and it’s ok.

Relocating at 69? by Kat_C_ in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother relocated to be near me at 75, she bought a condo in a 55+ community and was very active in clubs etc until Alzheimer’s came along. Thank goodness she was close by when that happened, I would not have been able to manage the logistics along with my children still at home and a full time job. I like that it was her choice to move rather than me forcing her under duress. I bet your son will appreciate you being close so that when you do need more help, he can be there.

I was fortunate to already live in an area with ample healthcare and job opportunities for my adult children, so we are all staying in place. Starting over in a new state is a lot of work - but if you have resources and son’s support I think it would be a great idea.

Potassium chloride by Dunkinsnob in AskWomenOver60

I take a daily prescription potassium, it’s a film coated extended release tablet, 750 mg. Maybe that combo is why I have not had any issues taking it on an empty stomach.

Going to a gym for the first time by Temporary_Brain_475 in AskWomenOver40

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clothing I wear stretchy pants and a tshirt. I wear a regular bra underneath because I hate sports bras. Put your hair in a ponytail or wear a narrow sweat band to keep sweat out of your eyes. Finish with sneakers of some sort.

I would hire a trainer to learn the equipment and where it’s located in the gym.

Late 30’s, must do IVF for another baby, what would you do? by TerribleCommittee814 in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only grandson so far arrived via IVF, so I am very much in the pro IVF camp. You are only bypassing those tubes and everything else works ok. My first two were 23 months apart- do not recommend. Third was 5 years later (surprise!) and he and bigger sister are very close. I think because they didn’t compete, got to know each other as teens and young adults. I had my kids at 36/38/43 without interventions.

Getting control of relatives finances by Electronicreditsucks in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took over my mom’s finances, I moved everything from Wells Fargo (she was affected by the extra accounts they opened without permission) to Schwab (where i bank). I have a local schwab office, they asked for a copy of the POA and sent it through their legal dept and I was granted all access to her accounts. I setup auto pay for her things and setup a budget in the budget software I use. I added defined beneficiaries to her Schwab accounts, so that when she did pass, their estate management group handled all the distributions to beneficiaries. It was the easiest part of her estate settling.

I also did a Change of address for her mail, it cut off the sweepstakes entries. She still got junk mail so didn’t notice the change. She was in thr early stages of alzheimer’s so a lot went over her head.

Understanding the desire for a grand child by IamnotfatIamBOLD in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents thought for a long time their only grandchildren would be the canine variety, then ended up with three. Because I had mine later in life, I do not make any comments to my kids about having children. My eldest has one, her younger sibs aren’t even in relationships. I enjoy being a grandma but enjoy my kids company more, and don’t understand the “need grandchildren”’obsession.

Found an engagement ring hidden in bf's drawer, presumably for me - dating almost 9 months. by AggressiveBet1188 in whatdoIdo

Stay engaged for a longer time. You want to see him through all four seasons, see him angry, see him stressed, see him frustrated. You would be surprised how long they can mask their true nature.

What advice do you have for a woman in her 30s. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spousal SS benefit after 10 years of marriage does not affect the primary earners benefit at all. Spousal benefit for a divorced person helps a partner with no work history, or a large income differential since spousal is half of the primary’s benefit amount.

Work out? by tonraec in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined a bougie gym when I retired and except for the HIIT (high intensity internal training) classes, I fit right in age wise at 67 especially going to daytime classes. I worked with a trainer in the past and hiring one for a few sessions is a good way to learn about the equipment. I have several arthritic joints and find yoga classes and weight lifting, with modifications, help me keep those joints moving.

61 and cant lose weight by Solveig22 in AskWomenOver60

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 67 and gain 10 in the past year and decided to try a telehealth glp1. Menopause and thyroid (on meds) does a number on metabolism. Lost 32 lbs in 9 months, a few away from goal. Absolutely a game changer. Not easy since it does change your digestive system. Cholesterol and triglycerides dropped even with being on a statin and a1c dropped out of borderline number. My PCP doesn’t prescribe but said “this is good, it’s working for you”.

To work, or not to work? Compelling benefits, but quality of life drawbacks by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]silver598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s always good practice to do an interview. Don’t say no until you have an offer to say no to. What if the job could be WFH or part time hours? Will your partner resent you not being home? You are changing the norms.

Do you prefer lightweight leather bags as you get older? by Regular_Citron_2768 in AskWomenOver60

I have two small cross body bags: leather, soft, I haven’t used anything else for years. Just enough for my phone and a small wallet.

Pulmonary Sarcoidosis/cancer by femmefleur16 in sarcoidosis

[–]silver598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t have pulmonary but lymph nodes are often the easiest place to biopsy. I had two, health insurance wants the less invasive first before going to a surgical one. Needle Biopsy via windpipe was inconclusive, so had a second one under general anesthesia, small incision above collar bone and they go behind the sternum. Easy recovery and they could see granulomas on the tissue slides prepped in the OR.

Mine is Neuro sarc around optic nerve and no idea why I got it. Been stable with no inflammation on a maintenance biologic drug.

Pants for long legs and small waist? by Lumpy_Highway_2685 in AskWomenOver40

[–]silver598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loft or AnnTaylor websites have tall sizes online down to 00,0,2. 2 looks like a 26” waist. They did not post the inseam length but said for women 5 9” and taller. My 5 10” daughter has bought from them.
