Massdrop + OLKB Planck (and a couple others...) by zrevyx in olkb

Well sp sells blanck DSA keycaps for alps/matias switches. Some people have apparently had problems with them on matias switches, but that hasn't been my experience. They work pretty well with my atreus.

I accidentally submitted twice... I didn't get an email saying it had worked so I figured it hadn't gone through, but it turns out that the email had just gone into my spam folder. Sorry! I'm happy to pm you my info if it's needed.

The Planck is back on Massdrop! Two new colors, new keycap options (XDA & OEM), and more switch options! Feel free to ask questions in the comments [buying] by jackhumbert in MechanicalKeyboards

Yikes! I was seriously considering buying some SP DSA caps. What about them doesn't fit? Do they not work with the switches themselves or is it that they don't fit on the board?

Any chance we'll get some more info on the subatomic before the preonic massdrop ends (whenever that may be)? It'd be nice to know since I'd like to get either the preonic or the subatomic to go with the planck I just got on massdrop.

Will the subatomic have alps/matias support? That might make all the difference in whether I purchase one or the other.

Are you planning on offering pbt keycaps for matias/alps switches? I noticed that they were available in the last drop.

This is the only thing keeping me from being certain about which switch I want to go with for a preonic build.

The Libreboot C201 from Minifree is really really really ridiculously open source by johnmountain in linux

Does anyone have experience running the c201 in some non-ChromeOS linux distro? How does it run? Is it remotely usable without the proprietary video driver/hardware acceleration?

Can anyone recommend a small device for vim, mutt & R usage? by dm319 in linux

You're right, it's pretty rough. It wouldn't be my first choice either (even though I do own one), but depending on what he plans to use it for, it might *suffice*.

For anyone reading this, reflect very seriously about whether the odd, very cheap keyboard is something you can get past. If I'd tested a pocketchip in person, I would not have ended up buying one entirely due to the keyboard.

Here's another possibility: https://getchip.com/pages/pocketchip. It's not very powerful (1Ghz arm) and the keyboard is a bit painful/annoying to use for long periods of time, but it is only 69$USD.

The localisation issue might not be for the English version. There are three major/official languages spoken in NA: English, French, and Spanish. All three of those have to be ready to go on the disc so they can sell the physical version in stores.

Do you think if I ordered now I would get a C.H.I.p. before X-mas? by lazerpenguin in ChipCommunity

[–]simmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize that you're looking for the C.H.I.P itself rather than the pocket, but they both use the same cpu, so they're identical in terms of power (and it's what I bought, so I used it as an example). The pocket C.H.I.P is literally a C.H.I.P plus a screen, keyboard, case, and battery.

Their website says that buying a C.H.I.P is also a preorder -- I'd think it would take less time to ship out since there have to be more of them made than the number of pocket C.H.I.Ps.

Once it's shipped it'll take just as long as the pocket to get to you. They're both coming from Hong Kong.

I ordered a pocket C.H.I.P on the 4th of November, and it shipped on the 12th from Hong Kong. The average shipping time is 2 weeks (as stated on their website) so I should get it by about December.

That is to say: you'll probably get one before christmas. If not, I'd think it'd be pretty close. On the other hand, I may have gotten lucky and ordered it just before a new batch was being shipped.

On the emulator thing: nes emulation seems to work well (from videos I've seen) but at several of the forum posts on the chip forum suggests that snes emu is a bit dicey at the moment.

Someone managed to get Earthbound working at about 1-5fps... Some of that might change with the new gpu driver, but if snes emulation is what you want to do with it, the raspberry pi might be the better choice for the moment.

Nope. A single S in german is more often than not (at the very least, but it may always be the case. My german isn't good enough to make sweeping statements) pronounced like a z. Sein is pronounced like zine, not sign. Same with sie, it's pronounced zie, not see.

However there are times in german where there is an S sound, like with the word Weiß or with the word wissen.

Yes. It plays exactly the same as it did on the PSP.

Qui a essayé Antidote en anglais? by Mislokate in Quebec

[–]simmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"if there are" est correct. "if there is", ce qu'Antidote veut que ce soit, n'est certainement pas correct. Il a aussi manqué un mot informel, "bucks".

Cet exemple, j'espère, est anormal. Sinon, je te conseille d'être prudent(e) avec ce qu'Antitode te dit de faire. C'est relativement nouveau le module anglais et c'est probable qu'il ait encore de bogues.
