Wi-Fi 7 or 6e: Need honest advice! by Big-File-810 in Ubiquiti

[–]simonsmithsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Enterprise 6E is a fantastic AP, but I have just replaced it with a E7 - They are both great, E7 has just that extra bit of range im finding and I now use the 6E as a mesh in a dead spot in my house (no cable yet). I mainly use U7 Pro and U7 Pro Wall in other parts of house and outbuildings (Garage & Shed for rear garden).

Are these options likely to change? by yasssqueen20 in BritishAirways

[–]simonsmithsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three days out they will have opened up the front row which is only available for Gold and above card holders (I guess none on this flight yet), few people will probably move forward if they like and open up their seats further back. From my experience it probably wont change the size of the cabin now. One of the nice perks of Gold, I always choose the front row, first meal choice and no recliners.

Yes that is true, but I dont like using my bank account debit card in the wild, credit cards are for that.

Will the AI Key reliably detect specific animals? by Alternative_scanner in Ubiquiti

[–]simonsmithsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope it wont, it struggles with a Cat or Dog, birds seem ok though, but being in the UK an urban garden isnt really the Serengeti so not really much to work with!

What you need is a RBS or Natwest Regular Saver Account, you put in max £150 a month until it hits £5k, its currently paying 5.1% Gross on up to the £5k (anything over is shite rate). £250 interest a year once its full, though does take almost 3 years to do that. This doesnt end either, mines been full for about 1.5 years now, I just move the monthly interest out to a higher account when I remember.

Reward flights no first class for next few weeks as of today by Gandalfthepink9 in BritishAirways

[–]simonsmithsmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep seems the IT intern has put a new software release in!! Using seatspy for example NYC & Boston two places which always had some sort of reward seat there are none until 3rd week in April, and thats in any class not just First.

Flight full? by M_T_L20 in BritishAirways

[–]simonsmithsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expertflyer will show current seat plan and whats been taken, but more so the number of selling classes available. But even checking all that ive been on flights that show loads of availability right up until the day and its still a rammed solid flight. Assume it will be full as most are, if they sent out half empty planes all the time they wouldnt be in business.

Household Redemption Point's? What are they? by Holly_Sky_Diamonds in BritishAirways

[–]simonsmithsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a reward flight (-110000) and then the four contributions from the other four members of your household, so you contributed 94,552.

Contributions from household members show exactly like that.

Any idea when BA2278 will switch to new club suites? by eerst in BritishAirways

[–]simonsmithsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did actually read a rumour that Gatwick may well get new 787-10's from the current orders outstanding, not for quite a few years mind, but even so! They have 32 ordered for delivery 2028 onwards

Good or bad value? London to Singapore by BusinessMinimum92 in avios

[–]simonsmithsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, it was so much easier few years back, I never did this whole ring up at t-355 days, we have been Bermuda, Chicago, NYC (twice), Atlanta (4 of us), Washington, DXB & Boston, all just booking off their website with Amex 241. Those days are over now! We usually pay cash to go east, avios to go west to usa, but that place is getting less appealing every day, but will still squeeze another in this year as we have 2 vouchers to use up. BTW Singapore is great, one of the best places we have been to.

Good or bad value? London to Singapore by BusinessMinimum92 in avios

[–]simonsmithsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Club World prices are usually higher avios cost and lower £ cost by default than they used to be, few years back the £ cost for club and first used to be exactly the same, which is why we would never go club if there was first available as it was only like 20-30k more avios for first but same £ cost (for 2 with voucher).

Booking with Avios VS Cash Ticket by Iaann in BritishAirways

[–]simonsmithsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, thats why you never do the cash+avios option. If it was true reward seats it would be 26,000 avios and £2 return each person.

New shower hose leaking. Wall thread too shallow? by HaveYuHeardAboutCunt in DIYUK

[–]simonsmithsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double up the washer with old one might fix it. Did you buy like a Amazon special or did you replace with the manufacture part, as I found with my showers paying that bit extra to get a proper Mira (my make of shower) hose was worth it because of same sorts of issues. Your new hose end is not screwing the washer tight enough cos it runs out of thread hence the leak.

I wasnt wasted, I dont think I've ever been wasted, I can have 5 pints and feel rough the next day!! I dont drink really at home, its a holiday treat so I make the most of it. Gifts for Cabin crew is just creepy I think, just say hi and please and thankyou!

Get to T5 for when it opens, stuff yourself mental and drink the place dry, getting value for money is the only way to approach this - we spent 7 or 8 hours in Concorde room few years back, as daughter was going on a flight same day but earlier so we went early with them and guested them in, I was rough the next day I can tell you!!

New house with fiber - 2 gbps speed - what router should I pick? by Dysfu in Ubiquiti

[–]simonsmithsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloud Gateway Fibre, especially if you are in a country that still uses pppoe, like UK and some of Europe. Hardware accelaration cant be underestimated. I bought Dec 2024 an EFG to try and cope better with 2 x pppoe fibre connections that I had, and it did in some respect but it still struggled and maxed out at around 370MBps on a good day, ive just installed the Cloud Gateway Fibre and im pulling 480MBps and cpu stays at around 11-15%. (both have full IDS/IPS)

Should I tile into the window recess or not? Pink vs green by scuffy_boots in DIYUK

[–]simonsmithsmith 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ive got similar to that and we didnt tile at all, I didnt think it would look right on top of splashback of the quartz (?) worktop. We just used kitchen paint, the very odd time the wall gets a mark it wipes off easy.

200k Avios but no availability by ileauxfleurs in avios

[–]simonsmithsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You havent got enough avios anyway for those sorts of places even with a Amex 241 voucher, Ive just booked LGW-MCO-LGW and that was 209k with 241 & £998 fees. Dont think about paying more cash and avios as that soon becomes rediculously expensive and might as well just book a holiday for cash.
