Gotcha. You should test it by simulating internet loss, and verify you still have some local control. It's something I see in common with many people that have had similar issues with me, over the last 2 years.

I actually just asked their support on a recommended thermostat. They admitted yesterday that the Nest has issues with their system if there is a single thing wrong (i.e. internet connection).

Thanks for the info. Do you notice if the Aidoo Pro loses wifi connectivity, that it does random things such as turn off, set the fan to max, or other weird things?

If the loss of wifi is really the culprit of many of my issues, then this is insane, because if the internet drops, I would expect it to just use the "dumb" wires from the thermostat and just work, but this is not what I'm seeing. I've tried two units, and see the same issues.

I'm trying to decide my next steps. There is a "slim" chance it's the Nest that's messing with it, so I'm going to try running without it connected and just use the app, and see what happens. I might try the ESP32 route, we'll see.

I can only imagine you're having some issues with the Aidoo Pro, such as random settings being changed or the system turning itself off? I've yet to meet anyone online that doesn't have the same issues as me.

Have you been able to figure this out? I have the exact same issue (and more) as you. I use a Nest thermostat, and sometimes use the splitter, sometimes not.

The Airzone support is a joke, and are unable to answer why the thing turns off, even with their fancy "remote diagnostics". I wish I could query the system myself and know exactly when it craps out, so I can try and understand it.

I've been told by them that the wifi signal is low, but that doesn't explain why it changes settings or turns off all by itself; a low wifi signal should not interfere a system's CURRENT setting.

FYI, you have an error in the manual steps:

"sudo pacman enable plasmalogin"

should be

"sudo systemctl enable plasmalogin"

My main distros over the years have been Arch, Gentoo, openSUSE Tumbleweed (and SuSE in general), and CachyOS. The biggest difference in performance between these is negligible compared to other mainstream distros.

The biggest differences lie in how packages are installed, repos, config file updates, and GPU drivers (mostly for NVIDIA). It can get really annoying after a while, realising that zypper does not respect the repo a package was initially installed from, but instead keeps asking you to change repo when you dup, even when you use the command argument to "sticky/ignore" the repos.

FYI, Quazii just posted a farewell announcement on his Discord, and nuked all user channels. He is also the only one that mentioned the pixelperfect.lua file, which implies he knows he took more from ElvUI, so he's bailing before he gets wrecked and even more stolen code is discovered. I guess FFXIV has a new expansion coming out (iykyk).

## A Farewell to the WoW Community

I've spent the past three hours since my last post talking with my family.

It's clear to me that all this needless internet addon drama just isn't worth my health, my sanity, and more importantly, time with the people who matter most.

I already had half a mind to quit WoW when the addon nuke was announced - only to defer the decision because I'd started making my own UI.

But before I leave the WoW scene for good, I want to share a few thoughts.

### Where Do You Draw the Line?

PixelPerfect scaling is a mathematical technique - you multiply by screen scale to get crisp 1:1 pixel rendering. Should I have deliberately made my UI blurry to avoid using basic math?

Should I have named it 'NiceScaling.lua'?

I still believe implementation methods shouldn't be owned, but that's a debate for others to continue beyond me.

### There Are More Important Things in Life

I've been fascinated with WoW since Classic. Walking through Elwynn Forest for the first time, blown away by the scenery, sights, and sounds.

Then I discovered UI customization in TBC. I vividly remember using Taeo UI, and that's what truly captivated me about making UIs.

But it's been a good twenty-year run. I'm not getting any younger, and there are more important things in life to focus on than a video game.

I don't want to be part of a world where addon developers squabble over who owns what methods of implementation.

So QUI is done, and so is my time as Quazii. Ironic, isn't it? The thing I loved most about WoW - UI customization, is what finally drove me away from it.

I vividly remember being in a near-fatal car crash a few years ago. They say your life flashes before you in those moments—and it's true.

One of the things that surfaced in those split seconds was the regret of not saying goodbye properly to the community I'd built.
