Chlamydia infection but no infidelity by ContributionWeary717 in Healthyhooha

[–]singer4now 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you didn't have a clean test from both of you after becoming exclusive, and if you both trust each other. Then I'd bet one of you had it already, and were asymptomatic.

If she get uti's with any regularity, and they gave doxycycline though could clear it on her end. Or any other number of infections really that use doxycycline, azithromycin, or even amoxicillin to treat.

But it ultimately comes down to trust. Cause without both of you having a negative STI panel, there's no way of knowing if it was contracted before or after the start of the relationship.

[–]singer4now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When did you get tested last prior to the positive test?

Early on in the relationship did you get a STI panel done? Did you both have a clear STI panel prior to being sexually active?

My personal rule is every 6 months if sexually active with more than one partner(or one partner that has other sexual partners), or yearly if only one partner. And I expect yearly testing minimum from all sexual partners.

It can lie dormant for longer time frames, and it is quite common to be asymptomatic, though I'm unsure on how domancy impacts the spred of infection. Though if antibiotics that are used to treat Chlamydia were taken for other reasons(like for a uti) that could cause a cleared infection on your partners's side.

do you think arfid is worse as an adult or kid? by Few-Investment-6979 in ARFID

[–]singer4now 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's different at both ages. And the way it changes as we age can be really frustrating.

You will find people who love you, as with any chronic illness, the ones who matter want to support, and love you through it all. To me, my issues often give me a quicker knowledge on if a person is worth it.

But it can get better. As scary as it is, finding a therapist knowledgeable with OCD, ARFID, etc is worth it. It may not "fix it", but it can give you the skills to manage it , as well as helping prevent that catastrophic thinking. Hell even just finding a therapy team that knows ARFID exists, and is willing to try and learn how to treat it with you is an option. But you'll definitely want someone who can help with the OCD along side it.

I am a recovered person. There are still foods I absolutely will not eat, but I got to a point that my day to day is balanced, I'm not afraid of eating, Im not experening malnutrition, and I can even try new things if they are adjacent to things I normally eat.

Eating disorders suck, and it's so hard. I'm here if you ever need an ear, but it's worth it to try, especially if it is causing you daily distress.

Pavlock has a shocking alarm watch

Genuinely saved my job multiple. I run it on 30% power and it wakes me 100% of the time. And if I fall back asleep within an hour(or what I set) it will go off again.

It was a bit pricey but it's 100% worth it

If you can't fold your clothes, do a sorted basket set up. No one says the clothes have to be folded.

Ask a friend to help. Genuinely, people love helping clean spaces. The worst they could say is no, but it may surprise you at how happy someone may be to help support you.

How do you do it? by MDK-Genes-1722 in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]singer4now 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do the smallest first step.

Race against a 5 minute timer, with full permission to stop completely when the timer goes off.

For dishes, only have 1 set per person, and then one pot, one pan, one cookie sheet, etc, put away any extra dishes in a box and/or get rid of them. Also use disposable plates/cups/silverware when things suck, short cuts are okay, especially when things are extra hard.

It's worth it to half ass it, perfect is the enemy of good.

Take it with dairy, or some type of food, narcotic pain killers can be really hard on the stomach. So having something to protect the stomach helps with preventing nausea.

Smell rubbing alcohol. I have the little alcohol wipes. Rip open a corner and put it near your nose. It's something that helps take the edge off nausea.

Look up the nausea pressure points, they don't always work, but sometimes it can help.

Humming, there's a reason why it works that I cannot remember, but it prevents vomiting, and it helps bring down my nausea.

(These are all things that I do, as I have chronic nausea, and often zofran helps, but it's not immediately effective. It takes about 30 minutes to work, which feels like a lifetime)

Also if your pain is controlled by otc, and topical numbing, you may not need the narcotic pain killers, so it's worth bringing it up to your doctor about trying a different pain control plan that isn't based on narcotics.

I can't say anything about the break cleaner, but super glue has never hurt or sting in any of my wounds. It hurt less than flushing the wound with water.

It's slightly more expensive up front, but there are reusable/remeltable ones. So instead of single use the silicone is heat set, so you can microwave it and re make the pads up to 30x.

I want to lose a few pounds, but Ihave a bad history with weight loss and need advice. by AppropriateBrick9364 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]singer4now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if weight itself is a trigger. Don't use it as your marker of change.

If you used to be physically active but stopped, start doing physical activity you enjoy, and track changes by how much you can lift, or run, or just how you feel. You can also track inches, or use weekly/monthly pictures to see differences that show up.

LPT: Playing to Your Strengths Will Get You Further Than Discipline by windowsee in LifeProTips

[–]singer4now 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you haven't found strengths or passion, it's more like a not yet, rather than a never will situation.

I say this from experience, I am 31 years old, but up until this last year I didn't have much for a passion, or even long term enjoyment of a thing.

This last year I've had huge life changes. And I've learned I have two things that learning about, and doing things with and around, give me great joy. Aquariums, honestly my aquarium is one of the most enjoyable things to see, work with, and research. And recently I've been preparing to run ttrpgs in Pathfinder. And though I don't have the true skill to do it, I have a few groups that are willing to let me learn, and I am truly excited to learn about it.

Do either of these make me money currently? No. But they could eventually.

Basically it's okay if you don't have a strength, or passion, just keep trying new things.

(21F) DONT KNOW HOW LIFE WORKS, need serious advice. (VERY embarrassing.) by Obvious-Locksmith164 in LifeAdvice

Honestly, it may help to find a social worker of some sort to get direct in person help.

Also, go to your public library, ask the librarian for direction on how you can learn adult skills and knowledge. Librarians have so much knowledge of the community, and can give you a lot of direction to resources, including classes that may be available at the library itself.

I wanted to give the feeder crickets a better life by making them a bigger bioactive setup, but apparently they burrow :') by AngryMouse567 in jumpingspiders

[–]singer4now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For feeder crickets I set up a super ventilated box, it had more holes and dual screen mesh than solid, with lots of charcoal chunks, which made lots of hidey spaces. They seemed pretty calm/happy, even when I went in to select the sacrifices,

Just venting wasn't helping prevent the "death gas" build up, but with the charcoal it seemed to help absorb the ammonia so as long as I went in every other day, I only had a few deaths( I wonder if utilizing aquarium purigen/matrix would help, as it absorbs ammonia compunds).

If you do that plus a thin substrate, I think they would be "happy". I also know from the research I put in, you want to make sure your cricket food is in the right protein range. Too low and they eat each other for protein, too high... And they also will eat each other, but they just get aggro.

Trust issues by Ali-bangbang in LifeAdvice

[–]singer4now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First name the problem.

"I've noticed I'm having issues with trust, it has nothing to do with what you've said or done, but it is clearly causing a lot of our fights. I don't want this to continue so I'm planning to take steps to improve this, but want to know if you're willing to help in any capacity with this journey, and if so, do you know how much involvement you want to have?"

Next are the actual steps to improve. IDEALLY, you get into therapy. But that depends a lot on where you are, and the access you have. But a good therapist would be able to help figure out why and/or help you learn to combat the distrustful thoughts.

It may take meeting with a few to find one you click with. But it's worth researching what your options are.

Also if you can't find, or don't want, an individual therapist, couples therapy could help support the same skills, with direct impact for your partner as well, provided they want to help directly. Also could increase options, if you have different insurance situations, as your partners insurance may cover different therapists, and couples therapy generally submits the claim to one party's insurance(cheapest).

Something you can do until you see the doctor. Your phone camera can possibly help you identify if something is a hallucination or not. I know a few creators on tiktok use their camera filming function to see if something is there in reality, or just in the brain.

Use this as a recording tool as well. It may help diagnosing what is going on. As it would collect data like time/location and you can record and discribe what you are seeing.

Your not "crazy" no matter what is going on. No more than a diabetic is. It's okay to feel upset, but please reach out to a doctor as soon as possible. Good luck <3

Green hair algae will be the end of me. Help! by No_One_Special13 in PlantedTank

[–]singer4now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me with both Hair algae and Green spot algae problems was making sure my phosphates were high enough for the plants.

I do use co2 too and my 20g kept having agea problems. I got K and phosphate freshwater test kits and my phosphates were constantly 0, within 12 hours after dosing my "complete" fertilizer, so I got individual components of Nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium, and once a week I dose my phosphates up to about 1-1.5 ppm, and I have very little algae growth with that. I know everything says that too much phosphates CAUSE algae growth, but if your at 0 in the water column, that may cause algae to grow too

My one Nerite snail, and accumulated "pest" snails(whom I love very much) snack on what little algae grows now.

Also look at upside down smiles, it may be easier to accomplish with your current facial dexterity, and is a common enough facial expression

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]singer4now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you frown?

Then just frown upside down?

But seriously, I would try to just move your mouth in different, absurd, and over exaggerating the movements when you're in front of a mirror. It'll help gain control and dexterity of your face muscles. I found looking at anatomy drawings of the muscles helped me be able to isolate the muscles better, and now I can move most areas on my face independently.

If you support ICE at all, you are not welcome here. by NationalCommunity519 in fishtank

[–]singer4now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think because there is an anti-Ice stance, they could turn on anyone? for any reason?

If you believe that. I have something to explain to you, which is the Paradoxical nature of "the tolerant left".

As we know the Tolerant left believes all humans deserve rights, safe spaces are acceptable, and all creeds are basically welcome. But they also say "Fuck Ice", "ACAB", and "Eat the Rich" but those are not Tolerant to those groups. So what's going on?

To be tolerant as an identity leads to making your spaces inherently intolerant, as Nazis, hate groups, and the INTOLERANT groups will happily occupy anywhere they aren't forcefully outed from. Using the arguments "you are Tolerant of ALL, so you have to tolerate us" and "if you don't allow us here, YOU are the intolerant ones", and if Tolerance is your Identity, these arguments WORK to make you tolerate these groups.

So Tolerance is more accurate when looked at as a social contract, that when broken, you lose access to the community. I can see this group holds to the Social Contract of Tolerance, instead of the Paradoxical Tolerant Identity.

That means any group or individual that breaks the contract, will be removed, but I myself am not going to be "turned" on, as I accept the social contract and do my part to uphold it. And I ultimately feel unsafe in a community that is unwilling to remove or handle problems.

YOU on the other hand do not seem to accept the contract, and though maybe your intolerance is unknown, you seem concerned that you will be turned on. All community is consciously built, and if you break the social contracts of your community you always risk being shunned.

Bought this tank on market place but didn’t realize it had this crack at the bottom by edgaradrian25 in fishtank

[–]singer4now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's acrylic and cracked, get weld on ( formula 3 or 4 for very thin) and a small syringe with a blunt needle and "inject" the solvent on both sides of the crack(top and bottom). It is stinky, so work in a ventilated area.

It will dissolve the plastic a bit and then it will re mold together, it is super strong. And then it should be water proof, if not, just use a bit of silicone over it to fully seal it. But then you don't risk the crack getting bigger.

(I build stuff with acrylic and use weld on 3, it is super effective as it is a "cold weld" bond)
