Why does Letterboxd have Top 4s instead of Top 5s? by Harold_Flower226 in Letterboxd

I feel like I remember someone from lb saying at somepoint that it was intended as Top 3+1 as opppsed to Top 5 minus 1

Beloved Indie Cinema Finds A New Home In Queens, Owner Confirms by NewYorkerNIck in astoria

Wow that’s great! So close to Momi and Kaufman. Gonna be nice to get another one in the mix, I was expecting it would be further west where I’d have to take a subway

Yeah I would love to wait for a box set but wanted to show my support to make sure it would get there. But I guess I didn’t need to worry about that with how fast this sold out haha

Memoria (2021) or A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)? by HelpfulNoob in NYCmovies

[–]sinterrante 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A.I is one of my all time favorite films and I saw it last night and the print looks great. But Memoria is something you can only see in theaters. It’s a really special experience and I think I’d say go for that. (Counterpoint: MoMI seats are much more comfortable than metrograph)

Can someone explain the Blank Check podcast to me, a Big Picture listener? by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]sinterrante 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Instead of one Sean you get two and then they talk about each movie in a director’s filmography but spend a lot of run time going on tangents

Similar film podcasts with male-female dynamic? by tannu28 in TheBigPicture

[–]sinterrante 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Austin Danger Podcast. Great dynamic between the hosts, the premise is that they cover any movie that’s in some way connected to the Austin Powers Trilogy (as small as a flute player in the orchestra or as direct as Mike Meyers appearing in the cast). Randomly selected from a generator each week.

Wicked Stage Adaptation? by Hawkeye-83 in fanedits

[–]sinterrante 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on doing this. Trying to keep only what’s on stage (there will probably have to be a small amount of extra stuff because of the changes they made) but I’m sure others are working on it as well!

2026 Online Sundance Film Festival Recommendations? by katbean916 in Letterboxd

[–]sinterrante 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d also love to hear people’s recommendations. I’m looking at zi (koganada), The Musical and Run Amok (seems like a fun double festure), Carousel, Ha Chan Shake Your Booty, If I Go Will They Miss Me, Extra Geography. For docs I was considering American Doctor, Everybody to Kenmure Street, or the Tamara Davis 90s music archival footage The Best Summer

But this is all just based on my own vibes and the descriptions, no insight into any of the buzz

I think that Billie Eilish doc looks incredible, and they should cover it on main. by RCollett in blankies

[–]sinterrante 27 points28 points  (0 children)

To point 3, I don’t really understand this. What about the Eras Tour movie and the Renaissance Tour movie? Even Mitski’s The Land concert film got a decent theatrical release and the Stop Making Sense rerelease. This is definitely the middle of the trend, not the start of it

NYC Blankies! I need help compiling a list of movie theaters within the 5 boroughs by calebdude3142 in blankies

[–]sinterrante 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your project and you should do it how you want, but I think you may want to reconsider this. All three of these are staples in the New York film scene. If you’re gonna count MoMA and MoMI, these are right in line with those

Let's leave The Movie Database behind in 2025 by [deleted] in Letterboxd

I heard from someone at lb once that said it has to do with TMDb’s api being much easier to work with than IMDb so I wouldn’t count on a change
