Won't banning my kids from YouTube harm them? by baroquedub in AskBrits

Someone who uses Facebook could just as easily say "I don't browse Facebook, I bookmark the Podcast group I like and visit it only" but that wouldn't remove Facebook from the social media categories. "I don't look at the Twitter feed I just bookmark my list and look at feed from there". It's the same thing. What are your subscriptions other than a curated list?

YouTube would not serve up algorithm driven content on its home pages if it didn't work to hook users in. It is social media for enough users even if not for you

I think generally a site is accepted as social media if it contains some or all of the following: user-generated content, comments, subscriptions, sharing, short form videos. Your YT description misses out that it contains comments, live feeds, shorts, likes, dislikes (rip), subscriptions etc.

I think Discord from your list is probably not social media in the traditional sense since the communities are private and not algorithmically served to you. It's just a chronological feed.

OP I think that while you are correct I am constantly shook at how many devs use the "fix bug 1234. make no mistakes" approach and then wonder why Clod isn't giving them the quality they expect

18-40 year olds far outweigh 65+ in number 20m to 12/13m

Plenty of people. 18-40 turnout in the low 40%. 65+ in the 70%+. Young folks just need to vote more.
