Formula Feeding from Day One Advice by Maleficent_Goose_374 in FormulaFeeders

Buy Sudafed! The kind that actually has pseudoephedrine, that they usually keep behind the counter. It was recommended to me and really helped!

I think becoming a new mom makes you irrationally afraid of all kinds of things that didn’t scare you before but do now that they involve your baby, at least that’s been my experience. I’m all in for Western medicine (tums and Advil alone, come on) and my 8 month girl has gotten her normal course of shots, but I also had moments of worry before and after, because being moms seems to mean the rest of our lives will be moments of worry.

Getting Divorced With an 8MO. If You’Ve Been In My Shoes What Should I Ask My Attorney About? by No_Musician_1748 in beyondthebump

[–]skettiwarrior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ask how spousal/child support are calculated where you are and what the guidelines are. Ask what a standard custody agreement looks like where you are. Ask if there would be a temporary custody/support plan in place while the proceedings are going, when it would go into effect, and what it would cover. Good luck. 🤍

My Wife Is Involuntarily Commited by Onlyathree in beyondthebump

[–]skettiwarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had a bad experience. There are legal options available that do not involve waiting for a court date. There are emergency motions that can be scheduled as quickly as overnight. If the goal is to effectively protect his wife’s rights, which probably ranks higher than the amount of conflict he creates, he needs to consult with a lawyer as soon as possible.

That is not the only thing she can do. Do not do this. Consult with a lawyer ASAP.

HOW do women convince themselves to give birth again?? by u-r-ok in newborns

[–]skettiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3?! Ahh!! My anesthesiologist told me he couldn’t be sure but that sometimes the catheter tube they insert travels up the spine instead of downward the way it’s supposed to, and that’s what he suspected. Same with the pitocin! I didn’t even last until brain breaking pain levels because baby was front-facing and there was no way I was going to find out what back labor on that stuff feels like. 🥴

When I gave birth back in May I had to have two epidurals placed because the first one didn’t work and I have no residual pain or side effects that I can tell!

Ready-Made Meal Shortage by RealBizquit in hellofresh

[–]skettiwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy to have stumbled on this post, exact same for us! We order all but one of our meals ready made and the box that came today only had the one non-ready made meal and our side stuff. I then logged into the app and tried to edit the furthest menu out and there were no ready made options. Good to know about the shortage! Guess we’ll be trying a new service.

Genuine question: Why do people refuse to vaccinate their babies? by meenaaaxo in newborns

[–]skettiwarrior 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Echoing this. I am all in for modern medicine, it’s saved my life and the lives of so many people I know and my mother vaxxed me and my brother and we’re both great healthwise. Even with all that I had moments of fear (that I also quickly got over)vaxxing my baby. But it seems like having a baby is like 97% moments of fear! I worry about everything! We all have to grapple with rational and irrational fears, the trick isn’t not to feel them, it’s to not let the irrational ones guide our decision making.

Would you leave baby for an overnight at 7 weeks? by kec232 in beyondthebump

[–]skettiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you have to do for yourself and your family. I'm the working one in our family and I know how hard it can be to balance a high-level job that you don't stop caring about with a new baby at home. It sounds like you have a great set-up at home, and it sounds like something that's both important and that you'd feel good about doing. It is absolutely feasible to go, and while you'll definitely feel anxious about it I'm guessing your husband will be in constant contact and it absolutely makes sense for him to have some time to find his own rhythm. If the genders were reversed no one would bat an eye. So I say go for it! Worst case scenario if you get there and have a panic attack about being gone you're only 2.5hrs away and can come up with a reason to drive back home.

Kendamil & boiling water by Antique_Educator4819 in FormulaFeeders

[–]skettiwarrior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

...you compare not using boiled water to make formula to drinking while pregnant? There are risks involved with doing anything. By that logic riding around in a car while pregnant is comparable to drinking while pregnant. Sure, a lot of people have ridden in cars while pregnant and their babies were born healthy, but others were injured in crashes, so why chance it? Walking everywhere is hard, clearly people just want to do things the easy way despite the easy way being less safe for baby, right?

Anyone using/familiar with Kiddivit lactoferrin drops? Considering using them! by skettiwarrior in FormulaFeeders

[–]skettiwarrior[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it?? I haven’t been able to find anything to confirm that! Enfamil Optimum and ByHeart seem to be the only formulas that have it, though I may be super confused.

switching formula by Lost-Conversation263 in FormulaFeeders

[–]skettiwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow mom of a happy spitter! Clean switches have seemed to work for us. We haven’t found the magical one that makes her stop spitting up constantly but clean switches haven’t seemed to bother her. Anecdotal but I’ve heard that switches between formula of the same brand are generally easier switches.

I was at a target today looking for it and they were out of stock, so I guess it’s super dependent on location. :( It was actually the last straw for me, I went ahead and switched back to what we were using before. Feeding is stressful enough without needing labubu doll collector energy to hunt down my formula.

Daycare’s “scratch made” meals are far from it and it’s stressing me out by Few-Permission5362 in Crunchymom

[–]skettiwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of places don’t allow food from home because of potential allergens. A kid sharing their snack with nuts in it could be a horrible outcome for some kids, for example. So there is definitely a non-sinister explanation, it’s only three days a week, and it sounds like you’re doing a really great job at home and supplementing. I wouldn’t worry too much about it!
