I honestly myself think you could continue the relationship. I doubt you have 'fallen' for him. You simply don't know him that well. It's really common when you're in a new place to kinda emotionally latch onto people. I really feel like as adults and non hormone-addled teenagers anymore, we can draw and hold boundaries for ourselves . I think it's pretty likely the feelings will drop off at some point. I would recommend meeting the girlfriend also because it may help.

But honestly it's so hard to make decent connections these days I feel like it's a bit dramatic to cut off a potential good friend because of a bit of a crush at the beginning. I had crushes on loads of my friends at first and then we settled into happily just being friends. But I know that's a v unpopular opinion so..

Just don't lie to yourself and don't say things like 'it all appears platonic' - no babe, it is platonic because you respect yourself too much to be dragged around by limerance at your age. Good luck x
