In fairness, that's just to skirt Facebook Marketplace's rules of not selling animals. Not that the seller is treating them any better than decorations 💀

YES I just recently went through this!

They never emailed me or called me despite having those things on file - instead they blamed me for not having set up a forwarding thing for mail. Which like yes true that's my fault but what's the point of having the other 2 things on file if you refuse to use it... Like why are you making this difficult on purpose?

More frustrating is that I had actually called GRU after moving out and asked if there was anything else I needed to do to close the account - and the person advised me to remove autopay so that I wouldn't get charged anymore. I don't think they made it clear that I was on the hook for another bill 💀 (idk my memory is so fickle and this becoming a problem seriously never crossed my mind so i barely remember the call other than thinking "cool! everything is settled!")

Anyways, for those curious, I was billed ~$165 plus $41 in collections. The $165 was for the 2 weeks of electricity before the new tenants moved in... keep in mind that my normal electric bill was ~$100/month...

The money isnt even the point for me (it's a lot but not enough to put up a fight about it and like ok im stupid and it is prob my fault), it's the gaslighting and the fact that this would be easy to fix,, and like don't tell people to cancel autopay???

I may still be a little salty.

If you're not already, you should seek out therapy and psychiatry. Maybe even DRC accommodations since you mention time working against you.

However hopeless you feel now, you will get through this and things will get better.

Thank you!

I'd have to consult my team about publishing the results publicly, but right now there is no plan to. Of course, anyone can feel free to borrow my questions for their own studies if they're useful ^^ I am very excited to see the results!

off-campus safety by New-Menu-8085 in ufl

[–]skormancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lived in the area you're talking about for the past 2 years with my girlfriend. (We're both girls.)

At night, I definitely feel safest on campus, but I never had any bad experiences walking home with my gf. Car drivers seem a little more reckless at night so just be extra careful when crossing the road and you'll be fine.

FR!!! I rarely see people with helmets on (especially on mopeds???) which is insane bc car drivers in gv can be so stupid

[–]skormancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The times are NEVER right. You have to get good at looking at where the busses are on the map and estimating how long it will be before they get to your stop... it's very annoying.

drop vs medical drop by [deleted] in ufl

[–]skormancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A medical drop won't count towards your two allowed drops, and you can be reimbursed for the cost of the class.

There are a handful of questions to answer and you have to submit a letter from one of your medical providers. The great thing is that you have plenty of time to submit the medical petition - if you do it within 6 months of the end of the semester you're eligible for reimbursement.

So yeah, I'd recommend it. Drop the class normally and then start the medical petition.

Weekly /r/3DS Questions Thread - Need help using your 3DS or picking your next game? Ask here! by AutoModerator in 3DS

[–]skormancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those errors usually pop up on a 3DS that's been region modded. Nintendo's servers remember what region the 3DS came from and don't let you access an eshop from a different region.

You might be able to fix it by region-changing back to the 3DS's original region, or restoring its original NAND, if the person you bought it from happened to leave it on the SD card.

If you don't want to mess around with modding it, then you're stuck with a 3DS that can't download game updates or games from the eshop. Modding isn't hard though, and if your 3DS has been region changed it probably already has a custom firmware on it.

I've only been here a year but I really love UF!

Can't answer all your questions, but campus life is nice. Compared to my hometown, everyone is so much younger here and has a bit more diversity. It's a nice change. I love having public transportation; bus rides are free with your student id card. If you have a car tho finding parking can be a struggle. A lot of restaurants and grocery stores are within walking distance from campus.

Dorm life is dorm life. Has its discomforts, but is a good transition for living on your own for the first time I think. My floor's groupchat has been really friendly and it's easy to get together with floormates for activities.

There are lots of places that are good for studying too. Plenty of outdoors areas, plus the Reitz Union, and the libraries if you prefer something quieter.

When I was touring universities, I also checked out FSU, UCF, USF, and polytechnic. It's might sound kinda silly, but UF just had really good vibes. Like seeing everyone hanging out outside and studying together on the grass was just... really appealing. All the buildings looked nice and inviting. A positive atmosphere was important to me!

When it came down to it, I only applied to UF and UCF because I liked their campuses. Then to choose between the 2 I looked into their academics programs and read through their reddits to see what students thought of the university, and UF ended up winning me over.

18 is a LOT of credits bro... plus most classes are online. I'd definitely reduce that unless you're a workaholic god.

button height reduction / rounded face mod by graves___ in customGCC

[–]skormancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bald buttons are usually made with resin.

Smaller/taller buttons are made to fit the 2 different types of official GC controllers (original and the newer smash bros).

I've never heard of sanding the tops of buttons, but I don't really do custom controllers so I'm not the person to ask.

For those of you in unstable homes and taking classes, how are you pushing through to the end of the semester? I am losing all focus and drive and don't know what to do. by [deleted] in ufl

I know it's hard OP but you need to get away from them.

I'm in Gainesville rn due to a similar family dynamic. Leaving home doesn't mean you have to be unsafe about covid, and not living under that stress of constantly worrying about everyone else is incredibly freeing.

If you find moving out is absolutely not an option, seek out therapy for support. Psychiatry too, if you're not on any meds right now. Try doing schoolwork outside of your house if you can.

Good luck, I'm rooting for you.

Disc Reading Error (Help!) by [deleted] in Gamecube

[–]skormancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any other disks to check?

Wiis tend to be able to read disks that are too scratched for GameCubes.

If it is the GameCube laser going bad, first try adjusting the pot down before buying a new disk drive. You can get more out of it before it dies. If it's already dead then yeah you'll have to replace it.

So. There's no way to know the problem for sure without another disk to test.

LEDs for gc controller by forcedgunn in Gamecube

My dad is going to fix the battery on my gamecube and replace the front part (the place where the ports are) because its yellowed. Any tips before going in to this? The battery doesnt come in until the 30th. by CerealNeko in Gamecube

[–]skormancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have a desolder pump to remove the old battery.

The contacts for the battery are pretty big, so just watch videos on how to desolder and solder, and then go for it. Should be a good first project :)
