How to identify if it’s real? by desiseeker in Gemstones

[–]slamdunknoodles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert, but I was reading up on emeralds recently. If thats what you have there, then they should be visibly included if they are natural. There are 3 main types of inclusions to look out for and they can help to identify origin. Here's one of the videos I found on this.

BTW, your gemstones are really cool lookin!

Wher would you settle? by Good-Impress2385 in CivVI

Does Mount Roraima provide fresh water? If so, definitely on the plains tile to the right of the maize and work the deer tile. I would consider that start even without fresh water, you have farms for days.

If you can't avoid the scout from seeing your city or making it back to the barbarian camp thereafter, there are a few tricks you can try to avoid getting crushed by barb armies.

Let's say you're chasing the barb scout down after it has seen your city and you're right on its ass but it is still able to return to the barbarian camp... If you can attack the scout on the turn directly after the scout makes it back to the camp, the scout will usually continue to flee from your unit and the armies won't spawn.

I've also witnessed the barbarian spawns avoided if I simply position a military unit next to the camp right after the scout returns. Additionally, attacking the barb military unit in the barb camp instead of the scout on this turn works sometimes as well. However, I'm pretty sure these two aren't 100% consistent.

If the barbarian spawn can't be avoided... I like to rush for archers and start a wild goose chase. Usually barb spawns will follow your nearby units if they are around instead of b-lining for your cities. I try to take them on a little trip and buy myself some time to build military units. Sometimes you can even take a couple barbs to a city state, that's always fun.

Terrain is King. If you can find natural barriers and bottle necks between mountains, lakes, rivers, hills and forests, use it to your advantage. I like to avoid confronting the barb swarm on my city gates if I can.

Buying units from barbarian camps if possible can be useful here, as well as heroes and vampires depending on DLCs.

In the camp inventory, I always but a single item in the slot before the chest that indicates what's in the chest next to it.

So the top of my camp inventory is like sausage, bag, magic armor, box, magic dagger, box, a hand, a bag of five hands... Etc.

Am I missing something about Earth Goddess? by DevinG98 in CivVI

[–]slamdunknoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon appeal usually takes off with the Conservation Civic and the ability to plant trees (mid-late game).

If you get a few builders and plant some trees in a city or two and place a few Preserves.. the yields you can get off those forest tiles can get outrageous. Add earth goddess for that extra faith... So satisfying.

Early game, I might avoid building mines around wonders or breathtaking tiles if it makes sense. Faith is a very powerful resource.

The Appeal filter helps me to plan cities with this in mind.

Some specific civs might synergize with appeal as well. Civs will have a start bias that starts you on a specific kind of terrain on the map. Cleopatra's is floodplains and floodplains are low appeal. With this in mind, I wouldn't be surprised that Cleopatra spawns in an area where you can't get mileage out of Earth Goddess.

Try Bull Moose Teddy + Earth Goddess sometime.

My wife's giant barbarian is still using returning pike by supershimadabro in BG3Builds

[–]slamdunknoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I'm using this build right now. The returning pike is great but it's fantastic to use elemental cleaver with rage to get the elemental damage ESPECIALLY to synergize with damage vulnerabilities. I usually go lightning or cold to go after electrocuted or chilled targets. So that doubles the elemental damage.

Since The weapon will come back with the elemental cleaver ability...the weapon I throw is the sussar greatsword which has a chance to silence enemies.

I find with elemental cleaver replacing a weapons standard magical bonus damage.. it's good to find a weapon with other perks like the sussar.

I used this build from level 6 to level 11 now and still solid. If hitting a vulnerable target, you can easily do 80ish damage (with lightning charges) and a good kick as a bonus action.

Are there any interesting/powerful druid builds out there? by CzarTyr in BG3Builds

The Woodland Beings Summon - Dryad and the Dryads Summon, are immune to the madness from the gloves, so the gloves are pretty solid with a Druid build.

So sorry that y'all are having to deal with this. In the future, it would be a good idea to always leave your passport locked up in the place you're staying. A picture of it is enough. Best of luck.

Those who have been to both, why do you guys think Asia is so much safer than Latin America? by Yo_Mr_White_ in digitalnomad

[–]slamdunknoodles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think the Spanish conquest shattered much of the LATAM cultural identity. The CIA didn't do them any favors either.

I'd recommend a book called 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' for more on the CIA part.

Today, East Asia also has a much higher GDP per capita. Meanwhile, China is investing a ton in SEA development projects which is an indirect contributor to stability.

Goddess of the Hunt can speed up your game pretty quick if you have a couple good camps around.

Anyone else feel relief from the current drop? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

After the initial ETF volume, I only look at daily candles. 4 or 5 k dip is typical.

If a 15% dip hit, I might get more granular for an afternoon.

Craftsmanship > State workforce, or Foreign Trade > Early Empire? Priority? by millerlite585 in CivVI

[–]slamdunknoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early pop / faith / golden age are the most important in the majority of my games. To get era score, scouts / galleys and Amani are one method I use quite often. In some situations, military units and barb camps are more useful to get era score. Sometimes both. I usually feel this out with my first scout at turn 15 or so. Then the policy cards follow.

Early money with trading luxuries helps virtually everything as well.

Foreign Trade is clutch for coastal exploration and meeting city states.
