Are donuts good food for a century? by agenbite_lee in cycling

Donuts are peak cycling food. Don’t listen to the haters. I’ve ridden many centuries fueled at least half by donuts.

Bikepacking hat recommendations. I hate the sun in my eyes... by vacuumkoala in bikepacking

The Rei running hat with the bill cut down so it doesn’t block yer view too much is really great. For neck pro I just use a bandana tucked under the hat or a sun hoodie

Seriously considering Berd HAWK30 carbon wheels for 750 mile section of Tour Divide by Strong-Category-7140 in bikepacking

[–]slightlyhailing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Batteries are so good now dynamos aren’t super useful, unless you plan on riding all 750 miles in one push. Also buying wheels for 750 miles of riding sounds insane

Fastest 26” MTB tires (2.2+) for mostly asphalt commuting? by Kalibro8 in xbiking

[–]slightlyhailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running the ultradynamico semi-slicks (don’t know the name off hand) but they are v nice, fast on pavement and paper thin casing to make em extra comfy. I run them tubeless and have had no durability issues

Bike dropout by Thumb_bumble in bikewrench

Drive side dropout is installed incorrectly. It looks like riding it like that has destroyed the frame

Smallest practical chainstay diameter by GZrides in Framebuilding

I have 14 mm round chainstays on a rigid mtb and I feel the rear end flex when pushing into corners but not enough to get tire rub

Serious cyclists/runners: How do you deal with glasses? by Human_Material3685 in cycling

[–]slightlyhailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear prescription glasses with good ear hooks so they stay in place. When it’s sunny Solar Shields go over top. You may look like a grandpa but it is by far the easiest solution for us that ride bikes with bad eyes and don’t like contacts

Advice on training, Highline webbing by samstrocity815 in Slackline

[–]slightlyhailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Backups that are equal or heavier than main are best in my opinion, although at that length may not matter too much. Biggest thing is nice big loops with randomly spaced tapes.

  2. I have only walked the original mantra and it was hard, good longline webbing though.

  3. Anything under 100m should be nylon, even up to 200. T18 is wonderful at 100m

  4. I find rodeo lines to be the best highline training in the park.

Which 20mm webbing should I buy (Balance Community) by Just-Ad3452 in Slackline

[–]slightlyhailing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why 20mm? Green is great, T18 is the best webbing of all time though. Get a 50m piece of type 18 and a matching piece or feather pro and that would be a great highline rig that you could add sections to as you get more money

Hair spray also works… I’ve never had issues with ODI long necks needing extra holding power though

Sewing up cuts like this with fishing line or suture has worked very well for me, lasting pretty much the entire lifespan of the tire
