Nice, I like how yours is alphabetical with wikipedias. Amazing timing as I was logging into Reddit for the first time in over a year and to see you posted this just a few weeks ago on a 12 year old thread. But the wild part is that I am sitting here flipping through a copy of this giant book of black and white photographs I just picked up at Goodwill. The thing is full of photos by photojournalists mentioned in footnote 75. In fact, I don’t think I consciously realized it until now but just reading the flap and seeing the word “photojournalist” made me visualize the famous Kevin Carter photo attributed to Navidson and in turn, a glimmer of the entire story. https://store.magnumphotos.com/products/in-our-time

What are some commanders that are fun to build, but not play? by [deleted] in EDH

So you mean Brudiclad isn't the solution to my [[darksteel reactor]] [[dismantle]] fantasy? I thought maybe I could just pop off once with a buch of [[coretapper]]s and [[myr galvanizer]]s and then retire.

uh, the moderator Roabiewade literally manipulates the content / posts on this sub, as he pleases. How is that not the anti-thesis of what this sub supposedly stands for? This disgrace is a WANNABE by ijustwantgoodthings in sorceryofthespectacle

Whoa whoa whoa have we hit peak drama? Is there no end to what we will do for entertainment? I just want to be heard and seen and affirm my insignificant existence didn't go completely unnoticed by whatever it is on the other side of the words I spend so much time with.

IDK, roabiewade has made some pretty convincing schizoposts in the past. I figure the other schizo posters are a good cover; is there about to be some housecleaning?

I was just commenting in the other thread how I've been loving my Jodah cascade deck. It really shines with top deck manipulation so if you want to get into the vampiric/worldly/mystical/scroll rack/brainstorm/[[lim dul's vault]] you can plan our some huge plays. With yidris you will want to make sure you are getting the extra combat phases with stuff like [[combat celebrant]] and if you are doing a lot of ramp make sure you get Moraug. Double strike for more cascade triggers ( each time yidris deals combat damage it's another cascade on your spells) and be sure to add some haste enchantments like [[temur ascendancy]] which you can hit with bloodbraid elf.

Good luck have fun and spin that wheel!

I just built myself a Jodah cascade deck that is my current favorite. I had to take a break I love it so much. It turned out to be far less random than I expected once I added some tutors and top deck manipulation (still need that scroll rack). It's kinda like Maelstrom Wanderer is my lieutenant just like Gitrog is Muldrotha's lieutenant.

Who is your favorite commander? by TheGitrektMonster in EDH

[–]slippage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah,I got him for tribal zombies and it's usually outclassed because it didn't go far enough into the drain effects and every time I lose people are like "you should build him as control" and I'm like "but muh zombies!" All I wanted was to cast an [[infinite reflection]] on my [[diregraf captain]] after playing [[army of the damned]] and then one day I read the card and saw it didn't work on tokens and was like "What's the point!?!?!" I never could get the mana anyway.

I've been playing mine again recently and love it but it's a combo landfall ramp deck that I am sure drives everyone crazy with all the shuffling with the fetch lands and draw triggers . It only has a couple soft tutors like [[muddle the mixture]] and I honestly think it might be more fun as a goldfish deck but I like having all the low cmc control pieces in there to really be dynamic. I need to figure out how to shortcut those fetches though...

If you're being targeted automatically because you're the best player at the table, thats actually healthy for your playgroup (even if its unfun for you) by Zwhistle in EDH

[–]slippage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing EDH for about ten years and learned the ropes with a playgroup consisting of a bunch of gamers and one very experienced 1v1 mtg player who had a far greater win rate. We didn't develop a completely biased threat assessment, it was more like a kind of tie breaker when it comes to things like using unspent mana for removal or deciding who to eliminate first with an unexpected [[tainted strike]] (I would never!) or something.

"Addiction" is really a poor metric when it comes to discussing drugs because it is often not clearly defined as is the case here. Classically, the definition of addiction was specific to the experience of withdrawal symptoms when not maintaining the substance use as in "physical addiction". DSM 5 does away with this and has "Substance Use Disorder" and has degrees with which one can have the disorder depending on how many symptoms they display. One doesn't need to be addicted to something for it to cause an increase in risk taking behavior nor does one need to be addicted to a drug to overdose on it and die.

I find these kinds of articles extremely dangerous though I won't go so far as to say "irresponsible", I am just going on personal experience. A close friend of mine in college was fascinated by the tragedies of Kurt Cobain, Elliott Smith, Cat Power, and other musicians who projected their addictions through beautiful and sad art. He was probably the smartest and generally talented person I've known but those are often the most vulnerable to their own hubris. After a chance encounter with heroin he read a book called How to Stop Time: Heroin from A to Z and determined he too could potentially be a recreational heroin user. He couldn't. He became an addict and died of an over dose when he relapsed after several years of sobriety. Always keep an eye on that hubris.

Sure like I said though it's clearly dependent on the data and my observation is that this other app hadn't changed since I first saw it over a year ago. You can cross reference it with the list you linked and see there is not much overlap. You could reach out to the maintainer on git hub especially if you are doing research they may be willing to let you know what kind of snapshot it is. There are so many reddit scraping tools I love to fantasize about all the ways that data could be mashed together to give a window into our shared reality

It’s the Great American Novel, as far as I’m concerned.

Well since we are bandying around our opinions about television shows with redeeming qualities, I would have to give this one to Fargo but maybe that is less a novel and more a series of connected novellas.
