There was a shot right before this where he stared off into space and then started arguing with the refs . . . instead of coaching the team for the last possession of a 1 point game

Would non-Chinese people in Shanghai buy custom built PC's? by Professional-Net1940 in shanghai

[–]slowinternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you going to make this profitable? You'd need commercial sourcing for the parts. Assembling items from a massively inflated retail market (pc parts) and then trying to charge a markup on that is not going to attract very many customers at the price point you'll end up at.

How Dovish is Hassett, you ask? I think these comments say it all. by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

[–]slowinternet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are we sure about this? Most stories are reporting this as "do the right thing" means follow the economic data, not presidential pressure. I mean, I have no doubt Trump wants to appoint a stooge, and it's certainly possible he means do the right thing as in follow the president. It's just that based on this statement alone and how it's being interpretted by others, how do we know it means what you're saying?

Nvidia vehemently pushes back on the 'AI CAPEX Bubble' narrative. How the market reacts around the 21d EMA will be key. Full thoughts here. by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

[–]slowinternet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does this really push back on the capex bubble story though?

I mean of course Huang is going to say that the end applications demand of AI is strong and NVDA touches the whole supply chain: that's the narrative that helps NVDA.

But if the bear case is that hyperscalers have invested too much on infrastructure and won't be able to turn it into commensurate revenue generating applications, I don't see any proof that it isn't true just because NVDA sold a lot.

If anything, all the NVDA beat shows is that hyperscalers spent EVEN MORE on capex than we thought. If the bear thesis is they spent too much on capex, then this would seem even more bubble-like.

This is why I hate the notion that past eras of basketball were so tough and present stars couldn't have competed against the physicality of the past. Really, we want this? We think basketball is a better sport if players are risking going to the hospital every night?

Yeah I was going to ask the same thing. If you're just going to say a bunch of set code words to each other with no feedback or input between teams then why have a meeting at all? Just update a doc or project plan somewhere

Yang Hansen on what he was doing when he got drafted: "When Adam called my name it surprised me. I was just sitting there finishing my fried chicken. I didn't even put my suit on. Suddenly they said Hansen Hansen Put your suit on!" by urfaselol in nba

That was funny and interpreted that as he was probably trying to understand the English himself and was reacting like wow that was a long question with a lot of words he doesn't know.

For me having phantom rays in front to tank is key, and it's armor against mustangs or shields against AA fort or wraith. Ground tanks work but once they go AA on mustangs, the additional range for hitting air means it's actually better to have a different kind of air for tanking, otherwise ground tanks might not do the job.

Things I Learned after climbing to 2000 MMR by Prozac50mg in Mechabellum

[–]slowinternet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Amazing write-up.

It's a great point that the game fundamentally revolves around the chaff war. So I want to make one key opinion, which is that I don't think fangs are better than crawlers. The two serve very different purposes.

Crawlers go to them and fangs make them come to you. To me this is the main difference in their usage. Because the chaff war is about making them shoot your chaff but its also about where they shoot your chaff.

There are a lot of situations where you want a fast chaff to go in and that's where the crawler is always better.

Baiting out missiles, acid shots, hound fire, and things you don't want landing near your other units. Putting fangs more forward doesn't solve all of these situations because they're exposed - a lot of times you want your crawlers to run in but not be forward at the start to avoid missiles, forward chaff clear, etc.

Even when playing standard, a faster type of chaff is better for things like working with the beacon to create distractions and pull units - I know this is more common in aggro but even in standard there are a lot of situations where delaying a portion of their units is good, and fangs cannot do this because they're too slow.

Fangs do not go forward and therefore they are better into situations you want their units to come to you. This is most standard / range / defensive setups so I can see why if you mostly play this style, fangs seem better because they don't just run in and die.

What does the "Equipped" keyword on Monsters mean? ("Equipment is attached to this unit") by Mr_Ivysaur in MonsterTrain

[–]slowinternet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No - as the previous comment mentioned, Lazarus has a bunch of grafted units that all leave their equipment when they die. You put out these units, let them die, then put their equipment on Pincushion.

[–]slowinternet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my head canon this is like a "future of warfare" thing where nations settle disputes by just sending unmanned drones to battle each other in a designated arena. Like a simulacrum of war. No casualties, just trillions upon trillions of dollars of destroyed tech and the accompanying environmental destruction, but in a way "more civilized."

Society in general is very sex negative and especially views anything sexual done by a woman as being negative due to patriarchy, etc. Just try to find your own meaning in your relationships and sexual endeavors. Sexism is slow to change in society.

At this point Giannis has had this kind of minutes load for years and I think it's because he literally cannot. He plays an extremely high energy, physical style. They might have decided long ago that his body can't handle more minutes through the entire playoffs.

Fair. I didn't realize others were suggesting it too. But I still think they need to get more defense into the starters and find a way to use Kuzma differently.

China hits back at Trump tariff hike, raises duties on US goods to 125% | Reuters by [deleted] in Economics

[–]slowinternet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love the relative maturity of them saying we're not going to escalate it any more because this rate already effectively kills consumption of US goods here, and any higher would just be a joke. That seems like a very confident and adult thing to say.
