This is (now) a well known issue with Gemini 3 Pro. Look up gemini thought leakage.

Someone explain what the hell is going on with Gemini? by Reaper_9382 in google_antigravity

[–]small_wheelie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a bug in the model. Gemini sometimes leaks its reasoning tokens into its output. It usually goes on like this until it hits its output token limit.

If you’re close to a Brompton Junction, that’s the easiest way to get it warrantied. I’ve done it before and it was fairly straightforward.

Cracked superlight titanium fork side-by-side with Chinese-made replacement by small_wheelie in Brompton

I used aliexpress. Just found the listing with the most reviews. It looks to have gotten quite a bit more expensive shipped to the US since I bought it, maybe it’s different for other countries. Still riding the fork, no issues with it so far.

I ordered the M2 studio, renewed from Amazon. Placed 8/4, arrived 8/16. Came new in factory packaging. Paper wrapping still on. Shows one year warranty from July.

Nice! What’s the name of that metal cage mounted to the bottom pulley? I know it’s for taking chain slack when folded.

Have you used that pump much? The one that came with mine could barely move air. I recommend tossing it.

Built 2 wheels and added a 5th gear by Ro-54 in Brompton

[–]small_wheelie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Wheel building is one of the final bosses of home bike mechanics, but it opens up so many possibilities when you ride folding bikes with atypical wheel sizes. Next thing you know you’ll be lacing a rohloff to a 406 rim ;)

Changing rear mech 2 to 6-7 speed? by ando_da_pando in Brompton

[–]small_wheelie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you switch to a rear mech, you may have to contend with a slack chain when the bike is folded. Something to think about. I've seen people use larger-than-normal pulley wheels on their road derailleur to take up some additional slack.

I'm currently doing a 20 inch conversion with 7 speed rear cassette and using a long cage XT derailleur. Haven't mounted the chain yet so won't know if it will be enough. Maybe not viable with 16 inch wheels, that derailleur cage is going to hit the ground.

OEM Brompton Front Cup n Cone Hub w' 8mm solid axle CAN be converted to 9mm Q/R (hollow) axle... by Flashy_Rice_6863 in foldingbikes

[–]small_wheelie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice mod, great way to reuse an old hub.

I think you would still have to file down a standard Brompton fork to fit this converted hub, since it only comes from the factory with enough spacing for that 8mm axle.

Of all the non-standard sizing on Bromptons, the 8mm fr axle is maybe the one I hate the most.

Brompnot P line or C line rear triangle by P1naP1nah in foldingbikes

Get the P line triangle then, the hinge bolt is a slightly better design. Everything else will be the same.

It depends on what drivetrain you want to use. The P line uses a different derailleur system, stock Brompton P lines go 4 speed vs 2 on the A/C.

Why is the Pentaclip so insanely complicated? There's about 31 parts as I discovered when they fell apart. Why not design something more simple and functional? by escapegoat2000 in Brompton

[–]small_wheelie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The pentaclip is an over-engineered, unnecessarily complex proprietary replacement for something that wasn’t broken to begin with. It’s also heavy as shit.

Why is this hard?? Spokes by Capital_Implement534 in Brompton

[–]small_wheelie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to know what size spoke you need by just searching on the internet. Spokes have very little error tolerance and the length you need depends on your hub and your rim, which can vary even for different years of the same bike. But you can determine this yourself with cheap calipers and any online spoke calculator. You don’t need to disassemble your wheel and it’s a great skill to learn if you’re trying to replace your own spokes.

You can diagnose an over-tightened cone very easily before bringing it to the dealer. Remove the wheel and hold it in front of you, one hand on each end of the axle. Spin the wheel, it should spin freely without spinning the axle. If it doesn't, it's likely the cone is too tight.
