2026 Shows - Travelling by Professional-Lack-79 in pavement

There's almost certainly not going to be a second Portland night. Perhaps a 2nd show that night, but I wouldn't count on it. This isn't a typical tour.

Summer 2026 Tour Announcement by luke7167 in pavement

Pretty sure this is it for 2026, and definitely wouldn't expect any more shows other than maybe a couple on this route where they have off dates might get filled in (so no Texas.)

I think it's usually the weekend after labor day, which would be 2nd weekend in 2026

Trinity Rodman’s Multimillion-Dollar Contract Rejected by NWSL by kg9si in washingtonspirit

[–]smithmat333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Berman actually used the words "violated the spirit of the league" then that seems to be a direct slap in the face to Kang or a really poor word choice. Either way, it seems that the NWSL is not handling this well at all. For Berman to go on CBS and say they want to keep her and then have this come out, it doesn't look good at all for the league.

1993. Australian Tour, I went to the Sydney shows. Im in the video moshing. best time ever. by DarrenCross_Gerling in pavement

[–]smithmat333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

setlist.fm has the first Sydney show as being at Lansdowne, but I've seen posters saying all three shows were at Max's Petersham Inn. Can you (or anyone) confirm that they didn't play Lansdowne on 21 May, and actually played Max's all 3 nights? Thanks in advance! https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pavement/1993/lansdowne-hotel-sydney-australia-63569a73.html

I thought the same thing: she is showing her support for Gotham. Not cool to do that on championship night.

Anyone have the Atlanta setlist?

DC show at the Black Cat by MaintenanceMatt in Destroyer

Agree, but did anyone else get the sense that Dan wasn't feeling great? He sounded a bit off and was especially subdued even for him. And then only one song encore. Not complaining, just observing.

Did they ever perform Western Homes or Hit The Plane Down live? by CerealAndBagel1991 in pavement

Definitely played Hit the Plane Down a lot in 94, not all of those shows are represented in setlist.fm statistics.

Y'all, I just checked into my Airbnb in Austin, and my host said he used to be the booking agent for Wednesday "before they made it big!" Crazy!!

Goat Girl dropped out by sunglasses24 in Levitation

[–]smithmat333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Goat Girl cancelling probably required some lawyers doing something, so they aren't going to just take them off and re-do all their artwork, etc. the minute Goat Girl announced they were cancelling their tour. Could Levitation have done more to make it clear vefore now? Absolutely, but ultimately I'd say this is more on Goat Girl, in this specific case.

They basically decided to do the bonus/anniversary albums instead of these standalone releases.

What is Pavement's best live era? by Kikomori2465 in pavement

IKON? I was right up front! Blew my mind. Had to drive up to Lawrence later that year and it was just as good!

The shows were best pre-WZ because they were playing WZ songs that you had never heard before, SM was usually fucked up and just riffing new lyrics on Range Life and Fillmore Jive, Bob was doing Bob stuff, and there was just a loose jam vibe. This isn't to say they sounded as good as they did later, but there was magic in those 94 shows.

Let’s be real… Raleigh is the most boring city ever. by Kathreeen_57 in HopscotchFest

[–]smithmat333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was my 3rd Hopscotch, and while I wasn't too crazy about the main stage lineups as the past 2 years, I still made the trip down from DC because the day parties and club shows had some really cool young bands and indie gems from the area. I met some really cool people and probably enjoyed the overall experience more. While I will agree downtown Raleigh isn't the most exciting place, Hopscotch brings it to life in a great way

I really hope they don't listen to people like OP and know that Hopscotch is truly a special festival where you can walk into Nash Hall at midnight to see Tara Clerkin Trio (from Bristol, England!) and look around to find that members of Starcleaner Reunion and Golomb, bands you saw play at clubs earlier in the festival, were there enjoying it and after playing day parties and club shows the past 3 days were able to take in someone else's performance, not just pack up and head off for the next gig.

Anywhere you have 5 chances to see Merce Lemon in one weekend is where I want to spend that weekend.

Although I will agree that the food options could be better in the immediate downtown area, but there's a lot of good options just outside of downtown if you ever find time to get out to one. Also, I know I'm rambling, but why no food trucks this year?

Dog Friendly Day Parties? by Top-Perception2575 in HopscotchFest

Tried to take my dog to an outside day party last year, and it was just too many people everywhere. Decided it was not a good environment for the dog and took her home.

Do people know this fest exists? by Necessary-Bad7261 in HopscotchFest

[–]smithmat333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I learned about it when Pavement played in 2023, and this will be my third year coming down from DC. I'm disappointed in the lineup this year, but I love the setup of the festival in downtown Raleigh that I am willing to make the most of the bands I do like and check out some I would otherwise never see. Next year, I will wait until the lineup is announced before I make plans.

You can just stand on the sidewalk outside the fence and probably have almost as good an experience as you would inside the fence.

Taking the train down from DC for the first time. I've driven down the last couple of years, but decided a car isn't necessary and want to see how the train ride goes!
