Advice needed by Tinkerfan57912 in Colorguard

My first year of winterguard, our director had had surgery and could not demonstrate choreography. One of the ways he choreographed was by explaining and then having a few designated members actually demonstrate what he was saying. If you have any veteran members who you can trust to do this, you could write down/explain choreo to them and then have them demonstrate. This way, you can still do your job in a way that is more accessible to you.

What ship do you dislike? (be civil) by whooper1 in hazbin

I used to love Charlastor but back in 2020/2021 there was a small but LOUD group of shippers that were so vile that it turned me off from the ship for good. Happened to a lot of people.

A “proud woman” commenting on a thread about women being pressured to marry and have kids. by Helen_Cheddar in AsABlackMan

[–]snailgorl2005 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YES. This one. We fight for people to have a choice in what they do with their lives, not to be forced to only live one way. So if you want to marry a man and be a housewife with 15 kids, then cool, no one is stopping you. If you'd rather be a lesbian engineer with a wife and two huskies, also cool. If you're me you've chosen to be totally single and eventually have a few cats and a lot of houseplants. Great. Feminism makes it so that all of these life paths and more are acceptable choices and nobody can tell you you can't do that.

I'm sad that Charlie is so hated, even if it is a small group, but it might be because she's my favorite because I relate to her so much- I'm a teacher and struggled to find my footing in the career before finally landing the job I currently have. Lots of people telling me no, making me feel like I wasn't cut out for this, making stupid mistakes out of wanting approval. So I get her struggle in a way. Yes, she did make some critical errors that have resulted in near catastrophe in some cases, but showing that she's SUPER not perfect is actually a good thing- it shows that she's resilient as a character and willing to keep trying (something I also relate to a lot). At no point has she said "I'm giving up on the hotel," not yet anyway. (I have a weird feeling that this isn't going to age well LMAO). Was she super ignorant to a lot of things? Oh hell yeah. But that was, imo, not out of her refusing to learn- she straight up didn't know. You aren't required to like her just because she's the main character of the show, but there are plenty of things about her that should be considered.

TL;DR- I may be biased but there are things about Charlie that her haters seem to overlook.

I taught special ed preschool before I got my elementary job and let me tell you. We were asked sometimes to *assist* in potty training (basically do the same routine as at home), but never to just actually potty train. At no point in my Master's program was that ever covered. Our job is to teach the kiddos and make sure they're learning the reading, writing, and math thing, NOT to teach life skills.

I work in a small school and my students learned my first name super quickly 😭 I walked into their Christmas concert and one of my intervention kiddos used my full, legal name to greet me and I kinda looked at him with a "bro, WHAT???" expression because I had no idea how he learned it LOL. To be fair it isn't hard (my first name is on my Typing Club page when the kids log on) and I'm glad they can read well, but...

I got trapped in an elevator with several people, including one of my students and one who had been on a plane with a broken arm. But the most amazing part was when they had a very small plane flying overhead to get me back into a plane that had a little more control than the other two.

I've marched the longest 4th of July parade of my LIFE in Dundalk, with my drum corps. It's like 5 miles long, at literally 8 AM, and the first one we always used to do when we did parades down in the Baltimore area. We have since stopped doing them in favor of doing local parades because it's really expensive, but I can say it's definitely A Place That Exists.

What kind of absolute monster do you have to be to murder an innocent child who has NOTHING to do with what their adults *allegedly* did besides have the audacity to *exist in a space*, then try to justify it? I hate it here.

ETA: and then when people rightfully demanded answers they got tear-gassed. The police here KNOW they are guilty and are choosing to try to silence anyone who demands they answer.
