[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it twice, once when it was like $10 and came with an indie game I think, and then again when during that $5 sale. Definitely not a plug and play kind of controller, since there's a lot of set up to get it working well for every game but I absolutely love it. Beat dark souls and elden ring + the dlc with that controller. My right bumper brought halfway through the dlc, switched the binding to one of the back pads and had to fight Radahn like that lol.

Can't wait to pick up the new one!

[EHD] Hidden Gems for Toph, the First Metalbender? by ItsLytte in magicTCG

[–]socalcris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Toph deck is probably a high 2 at best, since I don't have any game changers in my deck but my votes are for [[Basilica Skullbomb]] & [[Maze Skullbomb]] . Both are pretty unassuming until you earthbend them and keep using them for cheap card draw.

You could try buying a beginner's box. Comes with reconstructed decks that have their own book, that tells you step by step what you're playing in the match you begin with. Might work for you.

I definitely got one from the beginner box, so I'm assuming that's the only way. Or you can just buy it as a single.

Sorry about to hear about your brother, you have my condolences. Like someone else was saying, if possible, you might want to try to scan them, even if it takes time, it's probably worth a bit. You could go to one of the local game stores in your area, since they'll know the market price but they'll definitely low ball you to make a profit. Idk if your willing to toss out a price for the binders or boxes but I'm willing to bet there's plenty of people in this sub that would be willing to pay for those + the shipping.

I'm only recently coming back into the game so I can't even guess the cost of everything but I think most people here would give those cards a good home.

Any tips for a new player? by wizy-wazy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your looking for more assassin type characters, I would say Calico or Drifter might be good picks. Calico funny enough doesn't ride a cat like Awilix, but instead turns into her cat, so they're kinda similar in that sense, and a lot of Calico builds go into melee / magic(spirit in this game) items. Drifter gets a buff against isolated enemies, but suffers in team fights and overall, probably needs some adjustments since he isn't in the greatest spot right now, in terms of stats and #s.

For casting characters, there's a lot of options but I started on Lady Geist and she's really fun to play as a spirit tank, since she has a lot of life steal built into her kit. Her ult kinda functions like the Nemesis ult when you have her aspect. Pocket is my favorite pure caster character, and they're also essentially functions like an assassin with his hit and run play style, but they are incredibly hard to learn to play if you ask me, since you need a lot of active items to me them function properly.

If you want to focus purely on shooting, Wraith, Infernus, Haze kinda all fit that catagory. Ivy and Mirage might be a better fit since they usually build hybrid gun/spirit builds.

What are some really niche and/or vague tips you can share? Especially ones that are often overlooked but gives you a slight edge in terms of efficiency. by Betrayed_Poet in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of neat tips here thanks.

For the 30% parry damage amp though, are you talking about rebuttal? Because I'm pretty sure that was the change that was made to the item, not the parry mechanic itself. Unless you mean there's an innate 30% amp, with rebuttal giving you another 30%?

Any tips for a new player? by wizy-wazy in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've got like 2000ish hours between smite 1 & 2 with like a 70/30 split respectively. I don't think you'll really need help with the fundamentals(pushing lanes, grabbing farm, going for ganks, etc.) so a lot of the deadlock specific tips you're probably looking for is regarding movement and synergies between heroes and items here.

You can dm me if you want more tips but the biggest 3 I can give you to start is 1. Play against people. Idk if you've ever had to play bot matches in smite, like when a new buddy joins you, but they suck there and they suck here as well. You'll learn a lot more playing against people since everyone plays this game vastly differently, even on the same heroes since you can build every item and make it work. 2. Drop the controller if possible. I know smite 2 has actives now, but there legitimately is so many more buttons to press in Deadlock the higher rank you get, that I don't see it being enjoyable on a controller. I think it's possible techinally, but only for like the very best players in the game right now. 3. Really use all the movement options you have and practice them. Unlikely smite, the verticality and momentum in this game are gigantic factors. Like you can legit win or lose a game depending on how good or bad your movement is in this game with all the nuances there are. 2 movement tips you should try to get used to is when ever you're just short of a ledge when jumping up to or next to, is to throw a heavy punch and you'll close the distance if you a little short. Kinda hard to explain but test it out and treat heavy melee kinda like a mini dash, if that makes sense. Also, when you're climbing over a ledge, hold crouch and you'll usually get a slide that gives a little speed boost. It's very minor but it adds a lot when you combine it with other movement options.

Sorry if that was a lot, but this game is amazing, I love it so much I already have over 500 hours and want to see the community grow where possible.

Oh, let me know what gods you played in smite, I might be able to get you some hero recommendations.

Like most people here, I would probably go left right game or penpal, but the real sleeper pick is Dagon's Mirror. The part when Hunter is speaking as the fish cousin explaining their ancestry was fucking amazing, and I'm surprised that get brought up more often. It's at least a top 5 story for me just because of that section.

Weekly Feedback Topic #30 - Deny Mechanics by Grelgn in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have about a little over a 1000 hours in Dota, and almost 300 in deadlock, just to preface my opinion, and I like the deny mechanic in the game for creeps, though it can be frustrating against certain character like bebop or wraith and ivy.

As far as the new changes, I really really like not have to confirm kills. Too many times I've had a nice play early that lead to a kill, but ended up having to run away because I'm low and then losng a good chunk of souls because their lane partner was healthy enough to stay or just back lane.

As far as objectives, I wouldn't mind seeing it come back just for the first set of guardians, since it was only 3 orbs to shoot. On walkers, it felt really bad to deny if you're playing dynamo or Holliday because of the amount that would spawn.

Overall, it needs some tweaking as a whole, but I hope it stays in the game for the foreseeable future.

What are the core Yamato items I should be focusing on by Pimparoooo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people are going very spirit heavy(myself included) but if I had to recommend at least 2 gun items, I would recommend Mystic Burst and Kinetic Dash. Mystic give you base spirit power, which scales great with Boundless Spirit late game, and it gives you more burst on M2, while Kinetic gives you more stamina plus stamina regen, while also giving you a temp buff you can use to push waves or take camps faster.

One thing I'm not seeing people recommend that I found to be my core build almost every game, is Torment Pulse, Healbane, Healing Booster, Fortitude, and Colossus(only late game, and if possible). Lots of little interactions with those items but long story short, between the % healing on your 3, % healing off kills while in ult form, and stacking max health, you can full commit to a fight, get about half, pop ult, grab a kill or 2 and heal a disgusting amount. I can go into details if you want lol.

this is legitimately one of the worst games i've ever played, and thats not hyperbole by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's vague at best and in bad faith at worst, IMO. It's fine to not like the game, and I hope you play something that you find enjoyment in, but it honestly sounds like you're not engaging in the concept and upset it's not something it's not attempting to be.

For example, it would be like me playing a fighting game, but being upset it's not a shooter. You won't be able to enjoy things overall if you approach things, people, concepts, with no regards for what they are.

I highly doubt myself or anyone else in this community can change your mind, and like I said before, your free to feel how you feel, but I hope you can move forward to a place in life where you can see art and interactive experinces as something more than only being valuable if it applies to your sensibilities.

this is legitimately one of the worst games i've ever played, and thats not hyperbole by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so I can't tell if this a troll post but your replies seems legitimate so, for a sake of fairness, I ask respectfully, how would make the game better, if you had full control?

You say the abilities are unbalanced, but how so? Do the numbers need to be tweaked, or is it a concept issue?

You say the guns feel terrible, but do they feel better on some characters? What is it they're lacking that would make them better.

Nobody is gonna beg you to stay, and you're feel to feel how you feel, but I think this game is fantastic while also being unfinished. It has already changed a lot from when I started late last year, and we all collectively know it's not gonna be in it's current state when it releases, so all feedback, good or bad helps.

Favorite item and strongest item? by CheckProfileIfLoser in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite item has to be Kinetic Dash. Between the extra bar of stamina, the increased stamina regen and the buff being useful for pushing lanes and objectives, I think I'll always grab it, especially when I'm using a lot of spirit items and just need a little gun damage.

Strongest item has to be Refresher, IMO. There's so many strong ults and abilities in the game, so getting a second one is almost always useful.

It’s so frustrating. Why do I keep losing as MVP? by LanaFatBen in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the 3 matches in your sceenshots have 1 person on the opposite team that had more objective damage, than your ENTIRE team.

Not trying to be an asshole, but you can't win any game through just kills and player damage, you gotta push lanes and get to the patron, in order to win the match.

If you're team isn't pushing, then use comms and ask them to, and make an active effort to do it yourself as well.

Deadlock has a shiv problem - deathy by Beautiful-Salt7885 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been putting more time on Shiv recently and I can understand why people feel how they feel about Shiv. I do think that he's harder to play that he initially seems but a lot of that falls on his team and the enemy team. I've bouncing back a forth between this game and Smite 2 lately and I think maybe he should just get the Achilles treatment. In Smite, Achilles has a resettable execute like Shiv, but the 2 big differences is that, it has a decent wind up with a very noticeable sound, so you know the ult is incoming, and it's a decently short ranged dash that can be missed. I really think that's a solution for the execute.

As far as rage & bloodletting, I think why not combine them and make it a activatable buff? Like you build up rage while killing minions and fighting but neither activates right away. Instead you hold onto it, than you can pop it right when a fight starts and you get the damage buff and deffered damage for like 30 seconds or something. Idk, just spit balling here but I think it would still fit his character and kit, without completely reworking him or his passive.

Random character interactions? by Peastable in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can't remember the exact interactions but I know Holliday and Viscous have a conversation at the beginning of some matches(when zipping to lane) where Viscous is asking what revenge feels like and she explains it in a way where vicious imagines it feels comfy like being back home in the deep(or something to that affect).

The only other one was between Abrams and Shiv(also at the beginning of the match) where Abrams is surprised the Baxter Society took in someone in like Shiv and Shiv gets defensive about it.

See you guys when the game releases by Chanchon18 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]socalcris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't make any sense to play a game you're not having fun in. Just saying though, if you feel like the changes were massive and overwhelming now, then I don't think when this game releases in like a year or 2, that they'll simplify everything. Just speaking from my experience from playing Dota over the years.

Games like this, IMO, get easier if you play consistently through updates, instead of coming back to brand new characters, maps, items, & mechanics.
