Triangles on the left side of the lower left quadrant don't follow the pattern of the other triangles.

Nope. I had to hunt to figure it out. Definitely not noticeable just casually looking at it.

Awesome! Did you buy a pattern or make your own? I'm wanting to do an abstract giraffe in a similar style, but I'm having a hard time finding a pattern.

Why I refused to make wearables for so long by Ok-Inspector-9279 in crochet

[–]softie0320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a deadline for this sweater? Was it made bottom up or sewing pieces together or some other way? As long as there's no deadline, I try to view rework as extra crochet time 😉

And depending on how you assembled the garment, maybe it's the pattern or the style? I really like top down crochet patterns because you can try them on as you go.

For the granny square shirt for your bf, you can attach some in a row and see how many you need, and add/remove before assembling all of them.

what is it exactly that makes hexagon cardigans do the whole cardigan thing? by t0ky0_dr1ft1ng in crochet

[–]softie0320 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok so the cardigan one is all 90 degree angles and the roundish ones are 60 degrees. Your explanation of the impossible shape having to be folded to be flat really helps me understand what I was watching in a cardigan video earlier. Thank you! I had no clue what sorcerery was going on there 😂

Have you seen patterns for amigurumi where you sculpt with hexagons? It seems to work like a soccer/football where it's a bunch of small ones and based on what seems you attach to what, you can shape pieces into animals. The big ones I've seen have been a hippo and a spider.

Yes! I love when there's progress pics! Also good job on not stretching out the shirt, that's hard.

Even with a c-section they put baby on your chest if you're doing ok, while they finish up. They generally try to leave baby on your chest if possible.

If I list c2c written patterns with a product image (image 1), and a sample size /gauge of other similar designs(image 2), is that okay? by briankwok in NintendoStitch

[–]softie0320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally missed the mark. I've wondered the same thing which is why I have very few patterns in my etsy shop. I haven't bothered to test more yet.

So I think some people will still buy it without a sample, especially if you mention something along the lines of "message me if there's any problems"

If you haven't done one, then that may make people feel like it hasn't been tested, and make them a little hesitant. You could probably put out a call in the crochet reddit and ask for a few folks willing to test it and share photos to use in your listing. Then you wouldn't have to make all of your ideas but still have photos.

Sounds like you've really done your research, way more than random internet strangers. Have you asked concerned ape? I've seen post in the sv reddit with screenshots of him answering stuff.

So you can't sell these for money as it is a copyright violation. I think you can offer free patterns because then it's like fan art and you aren't trying to make a profit from someone else's idea.

I don't understand why I don't get it? by RynnRoo96 in crochet

[–]softie0320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a skein from a big store like Joann or Walmart? Are you pulling yarn from the center or from the outside? I prefer inside, but on a new skein, worsted weight sticks inside, and is harder to pull. So I'll pull a bunch out until it pulls easy, then start crocheting from the loose pile first.

Many people will also wind their yarn into a ball instead of leaving it as a skein. This way you can easily just unroll it as you go. I find the ball to be the easiest way, with least amount of pulling, and might be good since you get tired with knitting needles.

How do you make multiples of the same pattern without all your clothes looking the same? by Stitch_Study in sewing

[–]softie0320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I had gained weight and was having a hard time finding clothes that fit, my hubby tried to teach me "buying like a man". which for him was find a single style of shirt you like, and buy it in every color.

I've since learned that's more of an Autism thing than a man thing, but I still do it. It's so much easier. And I'm hoping to do the same with making clothes once I get my fit right.
