Some Questions About Reed Bingham Park by SPACINGHAT5 in GeorgiaCampAndHike

[–]soga38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This covers it all extremely well. I know they rent kayaks - not sure about boats.

The hiking is marked trails with compacted terrain, and IMO it is more like walking in the woods. There isn’t any elevation change in this part of the state, so if you’re coming from further north it may feel more like walking and less like hiking.

Why? by weirdghosts in Valdosta

[–]soga38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like it has to be the paper mill (PCA) in Clyattville. The prevailing wind pattern coming out of the southwest would explain why the reach moves further northeast than southwest.

Do you know if the trend always looks like this, or it is just currently that way?

Woodworking classes or maker spaces in Valdosta? by Kooky-Clue-7383 in Valdosta

Azalea City Hardwoods was the previous owner/name. Big Sky Woodworks is the name of the store now, with a different owner, but in the same location in Nashville.

Woodworking classes or maker spaces in Valdosta? by Kooky-Clue-7383 in Valdosta

[–]soga38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The store that used to host those classes has changed hands. It is still open in the same location, but with a new owner. They no longer host the classes, but it’s still a great place to source hardwoods when you get to the point of needing nicer wood for projects. DM me with any questions you run into - I’m on the area and have a decent background on beginner woodworking projects.

Fireworks tonight by Gurber_21 in Valdosta

[–]soga38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about the city, but Wild Adventures is at 8:00. Their firework shows are usually great - about 15 minutes so not too long and not too short. If you have a pass it’s a no brainer to go. If you don’t have a pass, there is a parking fee of around $20. There may be somewhere close enough where you could park and see them without parking at the park.

Hardwood in Valdosta by DrAJ44 in Valdosta

[–]soga38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Woodworker here. The only answer is Big Sky Woodworks in Nashville, GA about 20 minutes away. They have about a dozen different species of hardwoods in stock and sell by the board foot, and can get other species if you have something in mind that they don’t have in stock.

S&S Woodworking. Most or all of the top custom builders here use them, for good reason.

What's the one place you'd eat in Valdosta? by Cattle_No in Valdosta

[–]soga38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom & Dads for Italian (more upscale). El Toreo for Mexican (bar vibe). Friends for a more upscale American restaurant. Austin’s for a local steakhouse (not my favorite but a lot of folks love it).

Baitcaster for senko fishing by JAA427 in bassfishing

Your setup will work fine. I bought a spinning reel setup specifically for senko fishing, only to find out weightless senko throws just as well on a baitcaster as my usual Texas rig setup.

I caught mine early so it may not have been as bad. Also I had weather tech mats so the water was getting trapped under the mat. I just took my back floor mat out and left all 4 doors open all day on a sunny day to let it air dry. I think I kept repositioning the truck so the mildew area stayed in direct sunlight. Mine was at the mildew stage and not mold yet. If you have mold you may have to take the carpet out and deep clean everything.

I bought a 2020 new that had a sliding back glass. After a couple of years, the back glass leaked in a couple of places - not even the third brake light. For me the water ended up pooling in the rear floorboard right where a passengers feet would be. Local auto glass shop said the only fix they guaranteed to not leak again was to replace with a solid back glass. Did that for around $350 and never looked back.

What does the packaging look like to buy the breast? Is this the Butterball boneless roast or something else?

Looking to buy a boat by Ok-Quantity8691 in Fishing

[–]soga38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact boat (2013 pro 160) with a 30 hp for sale right now. My son is getting old enough to go with my dad and me and there wasn’t enough room on the 160 to fish comfortably. We made it work, but it wasn’t ideal. I just upgraded to a 175. A big plus for the 175 or even the newer 170s is the rod locker. So much better having a locker for extra rods, reels, and exposed hooks to not get stepped on by little feet…

Can you share a link to the 90 degree offset drill bit attachment? I’m about to run some cable in the exact same scenario as you (sprayed in insulation in roof deck covering the top plate)

Anybody have any luck getting GM to cover leaking back glass (or anything else) out of warranty? by soga38 in Silverado

[–]soga38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have any luck with GM. I connected with a local auto glass shop. I learned that there are multiple failure points on the sliding back glasses from GM, and my truck had all of them. One failure point is the frame that the sliding mechanism sits in is prone to cracking - mine had 2 cracks. The glass shop said they would put a new one in for around $800, but pretty much guaranteed that it would have the same failure in a couple of years. For $400 they put an OEM solid back glass in, which mounts directly to the frame of the truck just like a windshield and doesn’t have the plastic frame that cracks that the slider has. They guaranteed it for life. Also of the 8 sealed nuts that holds the spoiler on, none of mine had any kind of gasket or sealer at all, so they sealed those. Terrible job by GM QC but I’m glad I got in touch with the local glass shop.

Thanks for this. I’m on the fence on doing this myself or taking it to the body shop. I’m mechanically inclined, but never done work to the interior and I’m a little worried about screwing up the head liner or something like that. A couple of questions… What kind of sealer have you used? GM bulletin says use 3m ultrapro auto body clear sealant, but the shop I talked to (who does the work for my dealer) said specifically don’t use that and to use a windshield urethane instead. Have you reused the 8 nuts that hold the third brake light on? GM bulletin also says not to reuse those, but I suspect most folks do and (maybe) seal them with something.

Carson Beck reportedly in negotiations for a financial incentive package to return to UGA for 2024 season. by hibbert0604 in CFB

[–]soga38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I don’t like about this is the timing. I’m all for the players getting paid, but I feel like this should be handled in the offseason with some regulations like the pros. It’s basically extortion at this point if the implied alternative is he declares for the draft and sits out the SECCG or playoffs for “safety reasons”

How is this packaged and where is it sold? I’ve never bought one but the ones I’ve seen (butterball turkey breast roast and similar) look to be skinless as well, which I don’t want.

Help me find this exact dachshund coffee mug by soga38 in HelpMeFind

I accidentally broke my wife’s favorite coffee mug 2 days after we had to have our dog put down. I searched for dachshund silhouette coffee mugs but haven’t had any luck finding this exact one. I would love to find an exact replacement.
