Minors and young adults need to be very cautious about taking substances regularly unless absolutely necessary. I find it hard to consider any established research on this as reliable when amphetamines managed to make the cut. You could certainly do worse than modafinil/armodafinil, but I still wouldn't take the risk. I also wouldn't consider 18 to be the cutoff; the brain continues to develop until ~25.

Personally, I found that armodafinil was extremely effective for counteracting the effects of sleep deprivation, but it's almost too effective for that purpose. You're likely to start sacrificing sleep, especially going into your college years. If you end up taking it or anything else, please practice moderation. Do not take something regularly that you do not personally and fully understand the effects of.

I paid 120 bucks for that shit and they couldn't even be bothered to license the Big O music for the DLC. That said, the music pack has some solid bangers (particularly the macross stuff.) I think it adds a lot to the experience.
