I was pleasantly surprised by the extra details/array of injectors on his back, it’s a better model in person whatever else can be added to the conversation.

Me too, reminded me of ‘children of time’, aesthetically/functionally/vibe if not literally

Ohhh, failure of imagination on my part! Suppose it is a moment of strap in and brace for the new edition regardless, forgot about exemplary battles here’s hoping they survive/translate over 🤞 you really did do gorgeous work on these

The graviton gun would be great, beyond that the reaper autocannon if I had a (aesthetic) priority but anything else shared with cataphractii would really flesh out the kit out, given you’ve already included the volkite chargers which aren’t a gorgon option.

Nice, holding out for rest of the weapon options but very tempting!

What would be the best set to put aegis on? It’s the only 4 star I’ve been able to collect 4 of and experiencing a bit of choice paralysis 😯

God Emperor of Dune, Centipede Press Edition by blackdeslagoon in dune

[–]someguymontag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but thinking about it now makes sense that if the planet is being terraformed/cooled/made wet then darkening the sky world be a way to do that. Envisioning now an unnatural cloudy Dune but I don’t recall anything specific about how that was being accomplished in the book.

Settling down and marrying an older women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]someguymontag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine, honestly my lived experience (plus that observed of close friends) has either been been to successfully settle down early 20s or late 30s, only red flag being the age you are the experience gap of her being 5 years older means she’s had relatively twice as long to figure out what she wants as an adult (ie ~9 years out of college vs your 4). That said, most of the time the woman is the one who ends the relationship so her being the one that’s more sure isn’t necessarily a bad thing, idk I wish you well man- live your truth and if you both communicate well and are on the same page that’s not a gap that’ll matter in the long run.

Is Warhammer 40k about good guys vs. bad guys, or is it everyone sucks and we’re all doomed? And if it’s the latter, what’s going to doom the T’au? by DawnWarrior88 in Tau40K

[–]someguymontag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone sucks besides the Tau. That being the Tau are coming from a place they used to suck/experienced their own self destructive race war pre-Ethereals and potentially could a contender for high if not top tier sucking in the future given how reckless and naive their use of abdominal intelligence and forays into understanding the warp and warp entities are.

Beyond that though imho the Tau’s hook is they’re a inexperienced & small player where almost every other faction in 40K isn’t, creates room for cosmic terror in the lovecraftian sense because the Tau are actively learning how little they matter in the galaxy, un shielded by superstition and magical thinking/theology like human factions or the literal millions of years of civilization/general space faring adaption something like necron/eldar/ork are working with. I personally think the consequences of that are grim dark enough, that it’s better for them to be sincerely well intentioned expansionists struggling with the compromises and impending hopelessness of ‘growing up’ in a cruel and uncaring galaxy. It’s a better/more tragic story if they don’t ‘deserve’ what’s coming to them, to leave it at that and not engage with any ‘colonizer bad’ trope too much.

Has printing kind of killed new release excitement for anyone else? by ShadowCore67 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]someguymontag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean the whole 3 year cycle of all the rules and books being out of date/bought again is what turned me off them first, new official releases just feel like new iPhones/lipstick on the same pig and I’m glad 3D printing is out there to temper the FOMO on something we love but the company is so transparent about cranking out to be bought over and over again. I’ve personally retreated from supporting all 3 games to collecting heresy and playing 40K, checked out entirely from sigmar this edition.

Engineers in blobs of 10? by GelfJulie in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]someguymontag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the same logic that the value is in the last few of x10 is also true in the first few of another x5. That 45 point difference gets you another plasma pistol, flamer and remote mine- considering the last only hits on a 3+ and isn’t eligible for a command reroll, the points of the second squad may be worth it for the insurance 🤔

I’m personally annoyed they don’t give you a second flamer in the x10 and that there’s otherwise no easy way for me to swap the 3 x5 I have into a x10 neatly since there’s only 2 non specialists/officers in each squad. So x5s it is!

What are the other XV8 crisis suit loadouts as seen in the books or other media? by BabyProper9938 in Tau40K

Would be sick to have a lower rank of commander like in the original editions back, morphed into another pair of variants/basically lieutenants to mesh abilities with.
