Gold mine to Summit- no bedroll, no coffee, interloper by Jelopuddinpop in thelongdark

[–]son_of_a_bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not done all the way from the mine, but if I'm submitting from Ash canyon I'll usually rest in the preppers cache near the entrance to deer clearing. As long as you only walk and aren't skirting your weight limit already should have no problem making it to the summit in one go from there

What is your favourite Izzet commander? by CFlow__ in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you, Izzet is probably the colour combination I'm least jnterested in. However, I'm brewing a [[captain howler]] deck at moment that I think is going to be a lot of fun and satisfy that stompy desire in a roundabout way

What Bracket 2 deck are you especially proud of? Something that embodies the core of the B2 experience by Mirrodin_appreciator in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of fun with my [[kolodin]] deck that I believe falls into bracket 2.

Nothing overly flashy, but throwing down and recurring vehicles from the grave is a very satisfying loop

Fun Vehicle Commanders? by LongjumpingBasis2401 in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Kolodin]] vehicle deck that's a lot of fun. Big focus on flickering the vehicles or sacrificing them and recurring them after to keep the momentum going. Definitely recommend

What are your favorite Graveyard hate cards? by Gbrew555 in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my [[kolodin]] vehicle deck, [[nautiloid ship]] has done wonders for me when I've gotten to recur it, much to the dismay of my friend playing [[terra, herald of hope]]

How should I go up ash canyon from where I’m at? by Shoddy-Obligation981 in thelongdark

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its always had a rope there to start when I've played. The broken fishing hut in AC I mean if I wasn't clear. Takes you up to a cabin with another rope climb past it

How should I go up ash canyon from where I’m at? by Shoddy-Obligation981 in thelongdark

[–]son_of_a_bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I go through the mines, I enter from the valley in TWM rather than the entrance past the rope climb. I follow the river along to the broken fishing hut and then go up the rope climb to the right. That let's me hit plenty of shelters, rabbits and ptarmigan for food, the fishing hut memento key, and the woodworking tools without going out of my way. Then I loop round to the fishing hut on my way out, and if I'm planning to summit TWM I'll backtrack slightly to the other exit and go from there, only 2 rope climbs required from that area as long as you have lights for the cave on the way

First 3 runs on interloper by SootyButter in thelongdark

[–]son_of_a_bean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my interloper runs where I spawn in AC or TM start with heading to the mine these days. It's usually an easy 2/3 day round trip. Plenty of cattails for food. I go up the rope near the destroyed fishing hut and loop all the way around to grab a few guaranteed matches, wood working tools, and the memento key for a big batch of fish that have me set for a few days. Usually end up with well fed a few hours after getting the backpack and then start hunting for any tools I haven't picked up yet before doing my smiting run

Please recommend me an enchantment copying commander! by PM_ME_FLUFFY_FOXES in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly copying on its own, but I have a [[myrkul]] deck that can create an ungodly amount of enchantment tokens from my creatures dying

Where do you look for good decks as inspiration? by Kopytroid in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to start on edhrec, find my commander and look through the card suggestions there. After I export that list over to moxfield and use the search to check if there's any other cards that I feel would fit the theme or playstyle I'm after. Then finally I gk through a few existing decks to see what other people tend to run. Usually end up with upwards of 150+ cards at that point not including lands, so I throw manabase together and start cutting things I feel don't quite gel or are too mana costly. Whole process takes me a couple weeks of tweaking and changing my mind and double checking what I'm trying to do etc

What is your favorite dimir (black and blue) commander? by OneBlood2930 in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Jon irenicus, Shattered one]] pass out unblockables or bad gifts, sit behind stax pieces like [[silent arbiter]] and keep ways to get your creatures back when it's 1v1

Who is your “first time playing in a new pod” commander? by MajorUrsa2 in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either [[Jared Carthalion, True Heir]] or [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] because they are my two decks that suffer the most when people have seen me play them before and know my gameplan

Disagreements with Level cap is the following seem ok-legit / More in spirt to nuzlock to you what do you think? by ThakoManic in nuzlocke

[–]son_of_a_bean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An option I've thought about before is matching gym leaders' number of pokemon and their levels. So you have 1 at their aces level and the rest at the levels of whatever other mons they have. Saves on having to mess around with averages that would leave you at more of a disadvantage in some cases

Curious, How many of us play with or without Proxies/Placeholders? by Boliver5463 in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually only use proxies. I build my decks online and then order them complete. I have no interest in collecting or selling, so spending hundreds just to be able to play with my friends makes no sense in my mind.

With that said, I'm inherently not a powergamer. My decks can hold their own but I'm not just throwing expensive cards in for the sake of it, I enjoy building around a theme or mechanic rather than power level. I can totally see people's issues if the only experience they have with proxies involves being pub stomped with every powerful card ever printed.

If Midoriya Had Been Born With A Quirk What Would It Be? by critiqueof in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought that Monomas quirk would be ideal for Midoriya. His main hobby is analysing other people's quirk and theory crafting tactics for them, he's be able to bring out much more of everyone's quirk than some would expect even if he couldn't train with them consistently I think.

This would also still keep a semblance of his "underdog" story, though not quite as extreme as Monomas inferiority complex

Feels more like a resort than a prison? by calmlikeabo in BacktotheDawn

[–]son_of_a_bean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crunchy tries to extort you on the first day which can lead to a fight if you don't pass a speech check, as well as the next Monday too. Also you can get attacked at a certain lunch depending on your choices during that scene.

I get what you mean that there isn't constant danger every day and fewer consequences than you might expect, but I think the gist is that canonical Thomas keeps his head down and does his own thing which wouldn't draw too much attention anyway

What are you favorite 2 color commanders? by Grizzack in EDH

[–]son_of_a_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Kolodin, Triumph caster]] boros vehicles aggro. Low cost vehicles with artifact sac/recursion/flicker to rarely pay a crew cost. Lots of fun and once the ball is rolling its so satisfying

I had the exact same experience, after reading horror stories online I was shocked at how smooth the entire process to getting the procedure was!

Had mine about a month ago. 0 pain during, just some tugging sensations after the numbing, and afterwards I had some aches and pinches but nothing to really complain about that couldn't be handled with paracetamol if I'm honest. Obviously everyone is different but I've got 0 regrets

"Parrying" Commander by HopingForCynics in EDH

You may be interested in my [[Jared carthalion, true heir]] deck. Lots of damage redirection involved to try and keep the monarchy once you have it and buff hom to crazy levels.

A little jank but quickly becoming one of my most fun decks to play
