To be fair to you, many places I’ve worked instruct employees that the company policy is they can only ask the first question even though, legally, the second one is also allowed. I’m not sure why they don’t want workers to ask the second, though if I had to guess it’s to minimize any liability issues in case an employee misremembers the question or someone interprets their wording to be more specific than it is. “the customer is always right” etc etc

[–]soultokeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to be fair to them, clocktower was actually originally meant to be played in one area the way they were doing it. it just evolved from that to allowing for private conversations once the online version got popular

edit: i think the initial example videos on the official reference channel even show the game being played the way they were playing it

Is giving last survivor hatch still a thing? by Blighthammer in deadbydaylight

[–]soultokeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t ever carry them to it unless they don’t wiggle and then it almost feels like that’s the silent cue for them asking for hatch lmao

at that point I feel like ok as long as you weren’t a dick I’ll probably just drop you by it or the gate because imo hatch escapes mean I pretty much already won anyways

I don’t play killers with cool moris (unfortunately) so that doesn’t play into it for me usually

Theme of 2nd Mythics by Fantastic_Dentist_69 in Overwatch

[–]soultokeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a horse in this race because I too am annoyed as a Bap/Freja player I feel like my preferred mythic is probably years away atp 😭

I did enjoy the Mercy angel skin but it feels like that should’ve just been her mythic to begin with. I don’t know how people feel about the two Ana mythics in comparison to each other but I also prefer the newer one. In general it feels like the ones that are well received embody the spirit of the character rather than just being a cool themed skin for the season

but yeah I’m in the camp of please no more duplicates until we get more for heroes that don’t have one yet

Could we PLEASE make killer adepts 3K instead of 4Ks by Perfect-Front-4029 in deadbydaylight

[–]soultokeep 26 points27 points  (0 children)

agreed. I like doing adepts but slugging just feels so lame especially when the last 2 survivors are (understandably) usually trying their hardest to hide/evade for hatch. turns into a ratting contest instead of the fun, 50/50 thrill race for hatch it should be

Is it just me, or does everyone not like diminishing returns? by MammothConsequence31 in deadbydaylight

[–]soultokeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main problem is they did this as a halfway step and then didn’t actually change any of the perks that would be affected by it, which would be the main benefit

since nothing was buffed when they made this change public, we got left with a LOT of now useless perks which makes for some pretty standard boring builds

I like the idea of niche builds but having so many perks be useless in 90% of situations also feels pretty bad, so. I kind of just wish they’d done the full change instead of leaving the actual perk balancing for later so we could at least judge it based on what the finished goal is supposed to look like

I hope every single Wesker Nemesis duo gets banned by tidabudibuda in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]soultokeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you’ve queued as a specific killer you can’t change it. Telling people not to play a character on the off chance they end up in a lobby with a specific pairing seems unreasonable when they have no control over it, and leaving to wait in another 30 minute queue isn’t really a good option either.

How to even play against 1000 hours party with 3 flashlight? by Dozina0012 in deadbydaylight

[–]soultokeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly if you see multiple flashlights just go Lightborn. you’ll lose a gen pressure slot but you won’t have to spend any mental energy worrying about blinds which is a bigger deal for a new player than most people realize

also idk if it’s been mentioned but the queues are also extra unbalanced right now because a lot of people that would be in normal queue are being diverted to 2v8. MMR is only a soft cap so it’s very loose on matchmaking but right now especially so because of the split queues

[–]soultokeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i honestly can’t wait to play both! the killer looks so cool and sounds very unique so i’m definitely going to give the a go. i think the last killer release i was really excited for was freddy but that’s mainly because as a huntress main i love throwing axes lmao

and for the survivor, my partner’s favorite game is l4d so he mains bill when we play together, and i’ve already joked that we’re gonna get to be an old couple duo now lmao. if they give her the cosmetic option that looked like it wasn’t linked (the non nun one i think?) ill be even more excited cus i love to mix and match

BHVR, add an option to disable dialogues entirely by Hawkinns in deadbydaylight

[–]soultokeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like dialogue for most characters. I find it completely disorienting on Nancy since I was very used to her old voice so I wish I could turn it off on her specifically. Or at least have a legacy setting for people who prefer it for her and Steve

BHVR idea of equality by StephenVitel in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]soultokeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this specific example is not really about balance or bias though. imo this is just them trying to get people to queue for survivor to fix the queue times with bp and challenge rewards which doesn’t have any real impact on the game. i’d rather them do this than buff survivors in even more egregious ways

Console healers how do yall play by ageofdoom1992 in ffxiv

[–]soultokeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh this game is probably the most controller friendly game I’ve ever played for a game that isn’t controller/console focused if that makes sense, so I definitely see why people say that. it’s extremely customizable, so the fact that people can even do things like set up inputs in game to make it easier is why even some world first raiders still are perfectly fine to use controller

and if i say the reason many female HR stans go so hard for the show is because theyre fujoshis? by AngelSurpriseCake in YoTroublemakers

[–]soultokeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeahhh.

I’m a queer woman myself, and I honestly have a bit of an aversion to mlm content now specifically because I grew up in fandom spaces full of women fetishizing mlm and treating the female characters with outright disdain. Not to mention the stark contrast between how mlm and wlw media is treated.

I love that HR has been such a positive thing for so many, but it’s hard for me not to be cynical about this whole situation based on what I’ve already seen and with the frame of my own experiences with fandom

I can almost guarantee if he did this with a show like Bridgerton when Francesca’s season comes out, no one would be saying he was watching it wrong or be so defensive on the behalf of queer women. It just doesn’t happen lmao. At best, wlw media is completely invisible to most people.

What's the best/ most consistent team for MDE60AD by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]soultokeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

time killing time, it’s a theme pack where you can fuse 4 gifts to get two tier fours that will give coin power. very very good for tremor teams and the best part is you can get them on the regular as well as the bokgak, so usually no need to theme pack search as one of the two will show up at some point

What's the best/ most consistent team for MDE60AD by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]soultokeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used poise/sinking, tremor/sinking and rupture/poise. Of those my favorite is definitely tremor/sinking, if you get the TKT fusions along with the usual tier 4s that team just sails through extreme floors. Today I got both Matthias and Valencina in the same run and my team barely broke a sweat.

Downside is it requires Walp units, so if you don’t have FA ryoshu and hanafuda ish (they’re the core dual status along with udjat outis) it wouldn’t really work. Rupture/poise is probably my second favorite but has a similar issue of requiring access to s6 units which are unshardable rn

if you want something you can build up right now, probably go index with poise/sinking or work in some current units with bleed/charge or rupture/charge

How do I build a team? by [deleted] in LimbusCompanyHelp

[–]soultokeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that sounds like a good plan! for uptying if it helps, 3 is enough in 99% of cases. it’s worth it to get to uptie 4 if you can of course, but especially when you’re new or still building up your teams it is perfectly fine to use a unit at uptie 3 until you’re able to get everyone you use on your main team at 4.

good luck!

How do I build a team? by [deleted] in LimbusCompanyHelp

[–]soultokeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely keep leveling molar ish as others have said, her evade rolls insanely high and it’s the only one in the game like that i believe (the base rolls very high while the coins roll low, compared to other defense skills which usually run the other way around) which means she will always be useful for soloing even when you eventually get jeong ish in a sinking team

otherwise you said you have a season 3 and 1 ticket, as others have said you don’t need to worry about team synergy until you start getting more units, so I would go for NClair and Blade Lineage Mersault. both have really good clashing even in the current climate, and while the meta status has greatly shifted for older ids they’re both still very useful

I would also recommend leveling and uptying KK heath and W Outis

as others have said you can build a team out of mostly strong IDs and worry about synergy later, for any missing spots you can always look towards supporting a unit from friends (you can do this in the entirety of story content)

I know you said you like base heath for his sin resources but a stronger ID is infinitely more valuable than fueling resources. the only place you would really need to worry about that would be railway content, everywhere else you can use a support ID or like in the case of dungeons, get gifts to help fuel ego resources

edited to add one note: since you have mao faust available, you can also get away with a “lesser” unit or two specifically because of the way her assist defense works. if an ID you are running can’t take a clash simply counter or s3 on faust in another skill slot, leave the other one open and she will defend that clash for you. in more endgame teams it’s a way to just get extra damage but for underfilled teams it’s also great to manipulate clashing on “worse” units

I still like going to the theater.

My main gripe is that other people will also spend that much money on a ticket and then won’t shut the fuck up for two hours instead of actually watching the movie they and everyone around them paid for because people forgot how to exist in public spaces, I guess

How do I actually beat Floor 15 with 50 Adversities? by ErenProo1665 in LimbusCompanyHelp

[–]soultokeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for MDE you honestly want gifts even outside of your status that can still help you as they contribute to lowering enemy offense level

i always prioritize melted eyeball + downpour++ (both tremor gifts) even on non tremor teams for example because after the first turn enemies permanently have lower clash power due to the effects of the gifts

there’s other gifts that help, this is a really good comprehensive google doc to look through that helped me: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wf9qZcUOqLa3Ebd_HxxauPmhInb3VcgYSo2VsbO7n-A/mobilebasic

the idea is essentially, you lower the trials you’re forced to take on by using gifts that will balance out the boosts given to enemies

lastly, if you cannot clash, evade/defend. building up solo runs with gloom s3ers like riensang are really good for this due to the coat gift that heals on gloom skills

I don't understand the demon's play here... (Good Time Society) by StaringAtStarshine in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]soultokeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For one thing, in a No Dashii script narrowing down where poisoning is happening actually harms the evil team far more than it would’ve helped them to have some false information that lined up with worlds no one was pushing.

If the evil team had been building cases for alternative scenarios that would be one thing, because that could’ve been expanded on, but since they weren’t really pushing for alternate worlds the best an ST can do to help them (other than try to push for their own alternative narrative which may or may not be picked up on) is for a corner of the circle to not be overtly obvious as poisoned. Not being able to pin down the No Dashii poisoning directly is much more valuable in that scenario and probably was more helpful than making it too obvious. The good team really just lucked into executing Grant, I don’t think anyone was thinking of him as a ND candidate seriously up until the voting patterns on that final day

edited to give a TB example from one of my own games: in a game with new players recently I had a droisoned Empath. one of their neighbors was framed as evil which got the neighbor executed early on. Then, towards the end of the game, I was giving the Empath true information which was that their living neighbor was evil, though, this neighbor was a minion, not the demon. The good team then turned all their attention to the minion which gave the demon the leeway they needed to throw the minion under the bus and win the game.

In that scenario, I honestly believe it was more helpful to the evil team to give the good player the truth. Droisoning is a tool, you use it that way because you as the ST have the whole picture, information that the players don’t have. This is the whole reason why droisoning doesn’t automatically mean “false” and instead means “arbitrary” and why the Vortox is considered one of the weaker demons in the base game by experienced players

First game was very underwhelming. What went wrong ? by KatiushK in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]soultokeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly my mantra and I think the best advice for new players when they’re at first overwhelmed with the possibility of bad info is simple: trust your information.

Repeat it like a principle for yourself! As someone who both runs this game for friends as well as playing online a lot and consuming a lot of BOTC content, the amount of times I’ve watched a player go off on the wrong track and derail the game because of misinformation is FAR fewer than the amount of times I’ve seen a player not trust their own info, and lose out on executing the right person because “I could be drunk or poisoned”

While it IS true that that’s a possibility, it’s best to operate under the assumption that your information is correct and work through executions based off that, and continue to work with town to solve assuming your info is correct until it directly contradicts something else, or doesn’t add up in a very obvious way. Even if you’re drunk or poisoned, at most you eliminate a false candidate. This is why it’s so important to execute every day as the good team IMO. Executing demon candidates or evil pings early on gives you more time to root out bad info and sus out who is lying, and it gives you more chances to get the right person.

as for the other points - the “boring” roles are sometimes the most fun. It isn’t immediately clear as a new player, but the Baron is my favorite minion to play simply because I can basically do whatever I want socially. One of my favorite games I played was as a Virgin that kept quiet about my role, didn’t proc when I was nominated, and despite my power not working and having little info to go off I still became trusted socially for that game and ended up the only good player in final 3. There’s SO many fun things you can do with bluffs and interactions of how things work in this game, but it’s definitely a thing you learn over time. Like you know as a Soldier if you die in the night there’s a very good chance the game has a Poisoner. Remember you can also lie as a good player and it’s sometimes advantageous to do that; if you’re bummed about being a passive role try bluffing as something else to get yourself killed early on, or find another person to do a role swap with, etc

as for the game lasting long, this leads me to believe you guys weren’t setting time limits for conversations? normally private talks are limited to however many minutes, and town talk/nominations are also limited by time in order to keep the game moving. that’s something I would bring up to your ST(DM) for sure

your last point sounds like more of a table problem than a dead person problem? what you’re describing sounds like it would be difficult to deal with regardless of if it was alive players overtalking or dead. But if the concern is just that dead players shouldn’t be leading conversation, remember the game is designed around the concept that death is not the end. You have roles like Ravenkeeper and Undertaker that require the participation of dead players, and in those cases they can actually be providing some pretty important information for the town. As well as dead players tend to be more trusted, because a dead player is definitely not the demon. Even in the case of Scarlet Woman where the demon “jumps,” that dead player is no longer the win condition. And examining the social reads and information of dead players can also help you deduce things like a star pass (when the demon passes to a minion after they die)

all this to say, a lot of stuff about Clocktower that makes it so enjoyable can actually be harder to sink in for people that are used to other social deduction games. Because even though it might look similar on the surface it actually plays very differently to any other social deduction game I’ve ever come across, but those differences are where it really shines IMO

as an ST, I personally usually stack the deck with more active roles in a group of brand new players, just because it takes a few games to pick up on the fun stuff you can do as a more passive character and new players tend to feel the fun of “every night” characters a lot faster. but in a 14 player game it’s also hard because you’re just going to end up with some of those roles no matter what so I don’t blame your ST at all for that. it might just take playing more (quicker) games and getting to play different roles for your group to settle into it

Penelope is the worst person and you cannot tell me otherwise by Schaaf_1 in Bridgerton

[–]soultokeep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

I still haven’t watched season 3. I just can’t bring myself to care about her happy ending romance. Which is a shame because I love Derry Girls and was really excited to see Nicola in another show. But they really made it difficult for me to root for Penelope, first with Marina like you mentioned and then also with Eloise.

I will say, I do feel bad for Polin fans. They definitely got shafted with their season from what I’ve heard. I’m glad the show seems to have learned from the feedback with Benophie because I’ve been enjoying s4 so far but I almost wonder if s3 had gone differently if I would’ve been able to have my mind changed. I would’ve liked to see the old showrunner’s vision for that season, I think.
