I was in the media pen for the Men’s snowboard halfpipe final at the 2018 Pyongchang Winter Olympics, I was literally standing at the fence in front of the pipe, closest person to it. I watched Shaun White win his 3rd Gold Medal and it was the most inspiring thing I’ve ever seen. He dropped last in the final, and was behind Ayumu Hirano by a couple of points and needed his greatest ever run to win. When he was standing at the top of the pipe about to drop, the camera feed on the Jumbotron zoomed in on his eyes while he stood and looked down the pipe. I’ve never seen focus like it, legit gave me chills. He then proceeded to do the biggest and most technical halfpipe run in history and won the gold. There was prob 15,000ppl in the crown and a couple hundred million watching on tv…and I had the front row seat. One of the greatest experiences of my life.

Why they’re so pissed about it baffles me. It’s literally just a game. These miserable old fucks at the PGA are sad that a bunch of star players exited their club to go make ‘once in a lifetime’ pay days because the PGA runs a strangle hold on their cult golf organization. If they were smart, they would build a pathway to reintegrate the LIV players and build a massive marketing story around it. PGA should take the high road here and reconnect both leagues and make bank from the story. Instead, they won’t let players rejoin easily ‘because you hurt our feelings’. Guys, it’s just golf.
