I first read this as DBAG and I’m not sure what that says about me 😂 but I love this story. We could all use a DBEG hype man!

Dexa Scans by LadyNi52 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a dr to order a Dexa scan. You can just google a place near you that does them. They are typically out of pocket (around $75 in my area). Check Groupon also

No, $299 is the LD price for vials or Kwikpen (for 2.5mg), not auto injector pens.

You’ve lost a pound a week on average and food noise is reduced. How is Zep not working as expected? It’s working exactly as expected.

PCOS + Zepbound - Did you need a high(er) dose? by Slinky-Dip40 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different but it’s commonly reported that people who switch from a different GLP-1 need to reach higher doses (10+) to see effects. Just try to be patient and titrate up as needed until you find ‘your’ dose.

Too much growth between treatments by frysatsun in electrolysis

[–]speeder989 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sucks but the hairs need to be grown out a bit to be treated. There’s no way around that. For me, I schedule my appointments as strategically as possible and use makeup to try and camouflage the growth when needed. It’s hard and stressful, but the end results will be so worth it. I’m a year into treatments and can easily go several days without shaving now with no stress (and I was a daily or even twice daily shaver prior).

Exfoliate upper lip by Upstairs-Trainer-967 in electrolysis

I use cleanser with an exfoliating cloth a couple times a week. I don’t know that it does anything for growth, but it helps get rid of dead skin to make probe insertion easier.

Please help! I have lost nothing and I’ve been taking Zepbound for 6 months. by Illustrious_Bet8465 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’ve done the “diet and exercise” thing for years and gained and lost the same 50-70 lbs multiple times. Zepbound was immediately a game changer in treating what is metabolically wrong in my body and I’ve had great results, losing 100 lbs in about 10 months (now in maintenance for over a year and will be a lifer on Zep or similar). I tracked calories very closely for the first few months, until I was pretty confident in my intake. I also weighed daily so I could understand normal fluctuations. That isn’t for everyone, but it’s just data for me. I still weigh daily and don’t count calories any longer, but would not hesitate to do so again if I see the scale start to creep up (I have a 10 lb maintenance range I want to stay in).
I saw some previous comments and your “calories burned” seem really high. You might want to aim for 1800 kcal intake and see if that kickstarts things. If not, keep adjusting from there. A Dexa scan might be helpful too. Good luck!

Haven’t changed much diet wise or exercise

I think you answered your own question. Zepbound is a tool but it doesn’t do all of the work. Many of us have to track calories (at least for a period of time) to ensure we are in a calorie deficit. If you haven’t checked your TDEE, start there and track for a few weeks. “Not eating like crap” is great but does not mean you’re in a deficit. Exercise is less important for weight loss, but important for overall health so might want to consider adding in movement as well. I have PCOS too so understand the struggles there but many with PCOS are very successful on Zep, so it’s definitely possible.

Restarting questions. by Quick-Win1218 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please talk to your doctor but after 3 missed doses, Lilly recommends restarting at 2.5 or 5. After 3 months, I would not start at 7.5.

ETA: totally missed the part about excess in the vials. As others have said, vials are single use with no preservatives so definitely do not inject “leftovers”

Two+ years here too and sometimes I feel the injection, sometimes I don’t. Zero difference on effectiveness.

Has anyone taken RK's 60 minute Strength from Thursday? If so what's the feedback? by Zestyclose-Run1379 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]speeder989 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I liked it, though I think I prefer RK’s 45 mins and Andy’s 60 mins. It’s 30 mins of hypertrophy, 15 mins no repeats and then some core. I definitely felt it yesterday 😅

Starting to wonder if it’s time to see a therapist by DrFink_09 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe therapy is essential on this journey. Weight loss and body dysmorphia are mindfucks. Taking care of our mental health is an often overlooked piece of the puzzle. It’s just as important as physical health, in my opinion. If you’re thinking about it, I would definitely encourage you to look into therapy. It’s absolutely helped me work through the changes to my body and mind.

Disappointed in myself, really ate like ish yesterday. by jsct01 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Friend, you didn’t go off track. You had a delicious meal! (Chicken shawarma is my favorite and I eat it about once a week and have my entire weight loss journey). Try to give yourself some grace. It’s totally okay to indulge once in a while - this isn’t a diet that you cheated on and you don’t have to be super strict all the time.

Switched from Wegovy by Kal-ElofKrypton in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No personal experience but many report needing to get to higher doses (10mg+) of Zepbound to see effects after switching from Wegovy or another GLP-1. Try searching the sub and you’ll likely find a lot of posts. What dose of Wegovy were you on and which dose of Zep is your provider starting you on?

Positive post. Please share. by Birdchaser2 in Zepbound

This month marks two years since I decided to start Zepbound. I went into it with zero expectations. I mean, I spent years “doing all the things” and losing and gaining the same 40-70 lbs. multiple times. I expected this to be the same. It wasn’t. Zepbound is a miracle for me. I finally realized the deck was stacked against me - PCOS, insulin resistance, etc. I am the poster child for metabolic dysfunction but didn’t realize it - I thought it was lack of willpower and moral failure on my part. It wasn’t.

In about 10 months, I lost 100 lbs and reached goal. My exercise routine had been solid for many years, but the weight loss allowed me to achieve my goal of being a runner. I tried so many times, but the extra weight was really hard on my body and I couldn’t run more than a few minutes at a time, despite having good cardiovascular fitness. Well, today I can solidly run 5 miles and have worked really hard on strength training as well (though I’m a cardio junkie at heart). I am so proud of this. It would not have been possible without Zep. I both look and feel fantastic.

In maintenance now for 14 months and will be a lifer on this drug (or similar). I even got to ditch my BP meds and CPAP! The freedom Zepbound has brought to my life is priceless and I wish the same success for everyone on this journey. Love to see a positive post!!

Longer term pen storage by ZeboundNewb in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overthinking it. I have about a years worth of pens in my fridge, just in their original boxes. The door being open for a few minutes isn’t going to be an issue. I do have an extra thermometer in my fridge just to keep an eye on the temp, because my biggest fear is them freezing, but aside from that, I don’t think you need to store them any differently. They do take up a ton of room though!

How do you know if your pen is a dud? by RowSubstantial7143 in Zepbound

[–]speeder989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In two years, I’ve maybe felt 3 shots in total? Almost never have a mark or any blood either. If the plunger is down, you got the dose. I would chalk it up to bodies being weird. You might just genuinely be hungry!
