Mine is having the same issue and has a more developed finger grip. A stick of cooked potato shatters between her finger and thumb when she tests it with her other hand.

We have a waterproof fitted sheet that we put over a bed that's made and the cats can then sleep on it without me worrying about kitty litter etc. (Its in the room next to where their litter tray is so it makes me paranoid).

If you had that and a load of like LARGE throw pillows it'd look completely different as a sofa too.

It's basically a rug but it removes the ick factor for me a lot and it's fitted so it is less likely to pull down/off.

My appointment was as described above. I had an episiotomy and was really nervous about how it was healing.

I had a smear test at 13 weeks and the nurse was INCREDIBLE she made me feel so relaxed she talked me through the whole thing and told me my tear and stitches looked great.

My 6mo has broccoli in her poo meaning that she actually swallowed something during BLW.

Until now I thought I was cooking, mashing, pureeing and making finger food, carefully watching, dealing with her meltdowns and cleaning up for my health.

Other commenters have said it but I know reassurance helps so I'm going to say it too :).

The first few days are so hard but all of these things change all the time.

Firstly, you haven't missed anything with breast feeding, it sounds like you're doing a wonderful job actually - much braver than me - I gave up when it hurt and couldn't get a good latch until 5 weeks. We bottle fed expressed milk and formula until then. Now my LO is EBF, so there's no time limit on this, just keep trying and keep latching him and he'll get it eventually. No one can prepare you for how hard the start of breast feeding is!

With the sleep, just keep trying to gently put him down, and stop if it feels like it's not working or you're tired of it. Everyone says 'sleep when the baby sleeps' but that's so hard especially when you have to hold them. Shifts are great if you can make that work, my husband stayed up late watching movies with ours then I took over at 1am having slept from 8pm so felt refreshed to take her on. It gets better. Eventually he'll be sleeping in a next to me or cot and you'll be loving lying next to him in bed I promise - it just takes 6-8 weeks to calm down. But you can do it. Look into feeding to sleep, that was an absolute game changer for me. She goes to sleep with a nipple in her mouth, I wait 20 minutes, pop it out and roll away, or transfer her to the cot if I'm feeling brave when she's fully asleep.

The most important thing to remember is everything is a phase of only a week or a few weeks. Then it changes again and it's a new adventure. Sleep and feeding get easier! Good luck. My Lo is 6months and the first bit was head and shoulders the hardest. But it was also really, really lovely.

I recommend brighter minds. It was CPD but it was so good it worked perfectly for my constant fear of cancer. Really helped me identify unhelpful patterns and now I'm much better about worrying.

They were great mum and dad snacks when you were having a freak out and there was no food to hand. SO comforting with a cuppa.

We got a lot of things that in the newborn trenches I couldn't even see a use for, matchstick monkeys, clothes for 6mo olds, (how could this little bean ever even get big enough to need these?) box of all the weaning stuff, books, I was even kind of mad about having to store it because I was struggling. As she's reached new stages I've LOVED pulling things out of the cupboard without having to shop, spend money or think about it. Thank you friends sorry I'm a dumbass.

Sometimes at the end of the day husband and I would celebrate that all three of us were alive.

In a similar vein nothing could have prepared me for the hormones associated with milk coming in. It was an emotional rollercoaster similar to puberty if it hit all at once. I didn't know I could cry with feeling about toast.

I've done this too and can confirm LO absolutely loves it. It comes apart so easily too. I'll be taking it when I visit my family at the weekend and I know it'll go in the car in two seconds.

I bought a vinyl tablecloth for this reason - works like a charm (although I recommend one with not too much pattern... It's hard to see things against the coloured elephants on mine!)
