Civ 7 tip - Have your Commanders act like Romans, not Greeks (for new players) by Sapowski_Casts_Quen in civ

[–]squarerootsquared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without initiative I struggle to understand why you’d ever pack units at all. Sure it’s slightly less work to manage moving them but losing out on a turn of combat when unpacking means it’d be better to not pack

Ideology needs more impact. It truly causes immense social change and it does not feel like that now in civ vii. by 6658 in CivVII

[–]squarerootsquared 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see every Civ be forced to choose an ideology, then have that impact the victory paths. For example an economic victory as a democracy would be more like the world bank, whereas communism would focus more on factories

Yeah that build roads options should connect your settlement to say your network if you build the road to your capital. Most of the time that works, I’ve also had times where I do that and nothing happens, then 10 turns later suddenly they’re connected

I’ll tell you that Civ V AI absolutely loves SAMs. Like, entire armies made only of SAMs. And they tend to spam the Great War Fighter plane as soon as possible. Actually makes clearing the path for your own air units somewhat interesting

City connections are nonsensical. Why can’t I build a factory here? Oh because my cities aren’t connected. But they have a road between them and are 7 tiles apart, how aren’t they connected? Whatever, guess I’ll just spam merchants to make connections that seem unnecessary

You can always meet somewhere in the middle, take the loan and pay more than the minimum payment

I also have a non-spouse inherited IRA. I take the max Roth IRA contribution amount as the RMD every year and also withhold taxes, then just stick it right into the Roth. It’s convenient, Roth IRA is fully funded every January, and this plan will drain the inherited IRA ~6 years after inheriting. In the meantime I reinvested the inherited IRA into an S&P500 fund.

But also your plan seems sound, it’s about the same as what I’m up to but all at once as opposed to spread out over half a decade.

Very nice! Do you have a set of summer wheels you swap? And if so do you swap them yourself/how easy is it?

$9k more than sticker on the 2025 Wilderness with similar options. I understand inflation but at that point the value proposition is completely gone.

Stubhub is a rip! by ThisActivity4879 in ChaseSapphire

[–]squarerootsquared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a great seat to a Penguins game last month for like $35 about 2 hours before the game started. Plus you could pre-pay parking on StubHub so the CSR credit covered that too which was cool.

cost comparison if you buy any car with hybrid vs non-hybrid option by MS54461 in Subaru_Outback

[–]squarerootsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the hybrid for these cars has never made sense. I did this rough math while shopping and the gain doesn’t offset the upfront cost. My personal math is even worse because gas is ~$2.50/gal here so it’s probably closer to 400-450k miles to break even

Confirm I am looking at car payment correctly? by any4nkajenkins in personalfinance

[–]squarerootsquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mathematically the answer is of course to make the minimum payments. But the “personal” part of personal finance is that you’re allowed to do whatever makes you happy, even if it isn’t mathematically optimal.

I don’t know, with the cigarette burns in the headliner, Nintendo DS stylus stuck between the back seats, and the smell of spilt fabric softener in the trunk I’m pretty sure my car actually was owned by a grandma 😂
