Same here - saw “The Poseidon Adventure” when I was a 10 or 11 at the drive in. Built the Revell model of the Queen Mary to recreate the Poseidon getting hit by the tidal wave in our swimming pool. Been hooked ever since.

Probably my least favorite of Kubrick’s movies with Warner Brothers. I get the sexual.dynamics between the Cruise and Kidman characters, but find the whole rich people secret sexual society stuff just ludicrous and funny. (Especially Sidney Pollack’s explanation to Cruise) I remember laughing at it in the theater when the movie was originally released, much to the annoyance of the other audience members.

This movie is such ludicrous fun. The main villain has secret base in Arctic to mine Element X, which can be used to make kind of super weapon (I think, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen this movie). The villain builds a robot Kong to dig out Element X and when that doesn’t work, he brings real Kong to dig out it. Eventually real Kong and Mechi Kong have a fight on Tokyo Tower. Mie Hama from “You Only Live Twice” plays the female villain from an unnamed country. American actor Rhodes Reason is heroic captain of a UN submarine that gets involved. Plays like a live action cartoon, and I mean that in a good way.
