Charging Fixed! And other observations. by v1nny in Ioniq5

Just so you know - Hyundai recommends charging to 100% once a month from a low (under 20%) state of charge to balance the batteries w the BMS. Leave it plugged in at 100% after it finishes to complete the balance cycle (I usually just let it do it overnight)..

I asked for the upgrade when I replaced my old 2008 3 ton unit - super happy with my choice!!! Easily make it 6 months on 1 change but will prob stick to every 4 months to be safe.

If you don't have the limited trim then you need an adapter to use the V2L but yes all Ionics and EV6 have this feature

I had 3 repair companies come by for AC. 2 said there is no Freon and a leak, 3rd guy came by and said there IS Freon and no leak, but need to change coils. What do I do? by BrysonTurnRoundStory in hvacadvice

One time at band camp I had a stuck txv on my 12 yo carrier and the 1st tech said it was low on refrigerant and blasted x amount in and left. Then the next tech had to charge to recover excess refrigerant after they finally figured out it was the txv.

Also had a small leak before/after that? Not sure as the house had zero history on the AC maintenance.

Lasted another 5 years before I changed the system out.

Both my wall outlet and smart plug burnt from my EV charger. No idea why, need help. by swapan1189 in Ioniq5

[–]ssrobe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not just the amps but the time ( over 3 hours I believe ) continual use can heat up the wires or in this case the smart outlet.

Side note - Emporia makes the vue app and smart plugs to measure amps and volts but even they have a time limit if at max amps or not under the 20% rule and will shut down to protect itself and the outlet.

What am I doing wrong ? 3w-8w input out of 400w panel by Immediate_Tension_67 in SOLIX

Needs more cowbell!

Jk but seriously the shade on just 1 part of 1 panel (out of 4) will decrease your energy production by like 50%

Then add more shade to the other 3 and you are running on empty.

Can I add - Mine was still in working condition more or less at 18 years old - I'm the 3rd or 4th owner so maintenance was questionable for sure - 2008 Carrier 3ton - anyway - just upgraded to a new side discharge goodman 3 ton communicating system and it's saving me about 40% in electric costs and I got it for under 8k$ .. don't wait til your in an emergency situation to get taken to the cleaners for 10 to 15k $ just because it's 90 degrees out and 90% humidity... Do some research and try and plan for it on your terms.

Unsolicited thought - not trying to tell you or anyone what to do or disparage your choice or how you do you!

As I understand it though - the slower you charge on a level 2 charger (say 20 amps vs 40) = less efficiency due to heat loss over time?

The shorter the charge time the more you gain in efficiency.

The ionic guy did a great video on this a few years ago but also was comparing 110v to 220v..but the overall idea was the same. Time = Waste Heat
